[up]Marisa

[up][up]That's what I think too. It has been basically forever since she killed herself. (She did kill herself right?)

Anyway, since it's Yuyuko we're talking about. Mood is probably inappropiate

Fujiwara no Mokou. Her hair was black to start with.

Also, Reimu and Marisa.

I'd assume the Saigyou Ayakashi's soul is still in the tree.

And Yuyuko is, you know, a ghost who was once a living person who's body was used to seal said tree. Not the tree itself.

PC-98 is of dubious canonicity.

And there's no evidence that Mokou's hair changed colour spontaneously. It's possible that white hair is the result of the way that she neglects her body.

Mokou's hair color is arguably the result of stress/aging. Or maybe she was dying it black before...?

[up]It is, absolutely. But motherly, caring Satan figure, phantom might-be-an-oni swordswoman and possibly insane-definitely out-there policeman/princess are too great of ideas to disregard.

Yuuka, Alice, Reimu, Marisa, the existence of Makai... I don't find that dubious. Considering the numbering continues from there, too...

The Hourai Elixir prevents illness. Illness, ageing, and staying dead. Her hair is still white. <.<

Infinity posts out of nowhere.

I think that might have more to do with who they're fighting and the need to make the game a challenge than the fairies suddenly being really, really good at this.

Don't you disrespect them, little man! Don't you derogate or deride! They trained all winter to wage war and became able to dodge snowflakes. That's pretty impressive. They earned their final boss (and every other non-ex, mid boss) statuses in that game.

The way Mokou starves and physically abuses her body doesn't count as illness.

Yuuka, Alice, Reimu, Marisa, the existence of Makai... I don't find that dubious
Hence 'dubious' and not 'uncanon'. Marisa is nothing like her PC-98 self, seeing as how she's got Yuki's appearance, Mima's personality and attack patters and Chiyuri's speech patterns.

Quite sure ZUN decided to be mean and said PC-98 has no relevance at some point. Or at least, he ignores them.

Mokou's hair: It's just a waterfall of ash that continually falls from her head as it burns from her inner fire as soon as it grows/reforms. This is my idea.

Alternatively, because she's human and not a pure lunarian, her hair still aged normally or something.

Or because the elixir rebuiklds the body based on the soul's impression of itself, and Mokou sees herself as an oldbody, her hair is gray because she expects it to be.

Reimu's hair is almost always black (or purple in PC-98, but whatev). POFV it's brown, but that's the only exception I can remember.

And Marisa's alsways been blond (apart from PC-98, again).

PC-98 is kinda Broad Strokes kinda canon.

Oh, Byakuren probably didn't have gradient hair when she was a human, but that's just a wild guess.

[up][up] Fear of death actually, as I understand it. Vanity also factored in, but that's more why she looks like a pretty young lass rather than a withered old hag. A side perk, so to speak.

"What else is pretty... Ohhh! I could make myself have gradient hair! That would be so COOOOOL!"

I originally saw it as fear of ageing and losing her looks.

As a result, she actually specialises in physical buffs. She'd be interesting in a fighting game, then. [lol]

No, Myouren's death made her fear her own.

Re: PC-98: Marisa has Mima's attack patterns because she was her apprentice. She still has her own tricks (See: Orreries Sun), and she has the magic she stole from Yuuka in Lotus Land Story.

The effects of malnutrition would count as illness, though.
She still puts her body through hideous amounts of physical stress. She fights until she's in so much pain she is literally unable to move. That's not a good thing.

It was so cold inside the room you wouldn't think that anything lived there. I was used to that, though. After all, no matter how cold it got, I wouldn't die. If I can just bear the cold for a little while, the warmer seasons would return.
Mokou you can use fire magic. Stop whining and set fire to some of that bamboo.

However, Myouren died before Byakuren. The bereaved Byakuren started to fear death greatly. She obtained the power to regain her youth, but rather than a Buddhist art, it was something more like black magic.

So definately fear of death, but neither did she want to be an old lady forever either.

Interesting that (According to SOPM), without her buffs she's just as weak as a normal human. Of course, she has a scroll that autocasts all her buffs for her, so you really need to take her by surprise.

[up]And have to deal with accusations from that annoying Aya (accurate though they may be) that she started another fire? Pass.

Alice is described as being weak without her dolls. Maybe it's a thing for ex-human magicians.

[up][up]They're so big because she has a doll in there working them, clearly.

[up]And that is why it fits Mokou. It also makes for very dramatic poses and fits thematically.
