This is a thread for people who will not be or have not been on the site for a while, whether due to real life or to resist an internet addiction, the latter of which is encouraged within reason. Also, talk about the benefits/whatever of taking a day or a weekend off, or things to do when not online. TV Tropes ruining your life is nothing to be proud of.
Generally, expect the following from this thread:
- People announcing their departure or return.
- Moderators announcing a significant forum ban — not trolls or vandals, but someone people will notice and miss.
- Inquiries about an absent troper.
- Responses to inquiries about an absent troper.

So you can fly past the sky?
But how does this apply to his account as Flyboy? Furthermore, when was this instituted? If it did not apply here, then why was he banned? Also, the account that he was using to appeal the ban seems to have been bounced as well; what does that mean?
In all honesty, this is becoming a bit absurd.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I'm not sure what you're getting at. While the thump limit doesn't bounce his second account, the fact remains that the same person has a large number of thumps, in either account, ergo repeated misbehaviour. That's not the only reason for the ban, but it is a very important one.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYeah, Flyboy has been super cool on this forum. While he can be harsh, he's never resorted to personal insults or belittling people. He's been a good contributor to the site and has helped with Content Violations a lot.
I can see why he was thumped or even banned from CV (though I don't agree with it...I'm not a mod), I don't see why a total ban is in order.
I assume most of his thumps were from OTC. Since he's still banned from OTC, and presumably now from CV, is there a reason to blanket ban from the rest of the forums? The rest of the forums aren't as likely to get people arguing.

One Piece blog Beyond the LampshadeClose to 100 thumps. Do you know what that means to us? That he's not willing to listen. What can we do when we tell you time and again to stop?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerCouldn't he just have been banned from just OTC and CV and not the whole place?
This all seems too harsh.
Most of said thumps were for going off-topic in OTC, which he has since been banned from, after which point I would guess his number of thumps-per-random-statistic dropped off significantly. Furthermore, as pointed out before, when he has been thumped for rudeness, it is nearly never of the ad hominem variety.
Also, didn't his ban from the Content Violations forum stem primarily from a misunderstanding that he later copped to? (It was specifically regarding the ambiguity as to whether the P5's purview should cover rape apologia, which, let us be honest, would make most people in his position—or any position—just a bit irritable...)

. If you are a continuous source of trouble despite several warnings, you will eventually be banned altogether. "We have no duty of endlessly dialog with painfully obtuse people", as The Fast One said in the edit-banned thread.

"Obtuse" would not be a word that I would describe Flyboy with.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. If you consistently lack the self-control to manage yourself appropriately on the forums/wiki, we will eventually exhaust our store of patience with you. Valuable contributions can weigh favorably on your side, but in the end you have to play nicely in the sandbox with the other kids.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"JHM, although it would be invading someone's privacy if I gave you the exact numbers, Flyboy has a lot of civil thumps as well.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI think JHM was asking how Flyboy's behavior has changed since being banned from OTC.
One Piece blog Beyond the Lampshade@lu 127: And what percentage of those would be outside of OTC?
If you have already rectified the issue, then why take further measures? Furthermore, why ban him now when you could have done so days or weeks before? It appears exceedingly arbitrary.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Because the individual came in and is once again misbehaving? Honestly, I thought Flyboy had calmed down and was happy for it. That doesn't appear to be the case, however.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerSure, anyone can ask how many thumps they have. I PMed you your thump history.
I suspect that the people who have large number of thumps are well aware how close to the edge they're skating, though.
