This is a thread for people who will not be or have not been on the site for a while, whether due to real life or to resist an internet addiction, the latter of which is encouraged within reason. Also, talk about the benefits/whatever of taking a day or a weekend off, or things to do when not online. TV Tropes ruining your life is nothing to be proud of.
Generally, expect the following from this thread:
- People announcing their departure or return.
- Moderators announcing a significant forum ban — not trolls or vandals, but someone people will notice and miss.
- Inquiries about an absent troper.
- Responses to inquiries about an absent troper.

A thump system that weights and ages offenses is something on our general wishlist but we are still reliant on good ol' Fast Eddie to do the work.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Of course. Glad to see that I'm not the only person here who would like to see such a system, especially since some thumps (Off-topic) ought to be counted less than a rudeness or rules thump, and a frequent contributor who averages one thump per month over five years shouldn't be treated the same as one who rarely posts but averages five thumps per month over the course of a single year.
I'm sure that this has all been taken into consideration, but I guess I just like to make my personal stances on such issues known.
As a note, USAF's oldest thump isn't even a year old. It'd be one thing to have a bunch of thumps sitting on your permanent record for a couple of years, after which you may have changed the behaviour for which you obtained them, but constantly accumulating new thumps through the year? That's an issue.

And forum bans. When strolling through OTC, I encountered at least two of them. (Assuming that this post isn't Too Much Information)
We don't have a hard-and-fast principle of banning someone with X number of thumps (except for the automatic system). If we did, we wouldn't have let Flyboy come back under a new name. However, when having issues with someone, examining their thumps helps us measure if they're willing to listen and how prone they are to disruptive behaviour.

No, it means you cannot access TV Tropes anymore. You are just thrown back to the Google search engine page.
You've seen me on WB just yesterday, AHR.
And, yes, I suppose it is, in the strictest sense, ban evading. I know no other way of appealing, however.
I am now known as Flyboy.Yes, and that confused me just as much.
Also...you get an email, to appeal to. I believe.

I still feel that thumps should be allowed to expire and not count toward one's permanent record after awhile, but at the same time, it's not my site and I don't make the rules here.
