  1. People announcing their departure or return.
  2. Moderators announcing a significant forum ban — not trolls or vandals, but someone people will notice and miss.
  3. Inquiries about an absent troper.
  4. Responses to inquiries about an absent troper.

@kay I wouldn't say your parents are people you should be proud of.tongue

@lulu You have a father? Weird. surprised

My dad and mom hate smoking. I do it anyway because I'm just that cool. I smoke every once in a while. Like one cigarette every blue moon.

I'll never smoke. Not for health concerns-I have no need to live to see sixty!-but rather because it's !@#$ing expensive!

They're expensive, plus there's heavy sin taxes on it, your health and life insurance premiums skyrocket, and you might lose job opportunities because of it.

It's been suggested that slight levels of alcohol consumption are healthy. No one's perfectly sure as to why though.

There are empirical studies that suggest a positive correlation between low alcohol consumption and longevity. However, I don't know that it's causal. Supposedly small consumption of wine can improve heart health or something?

[up]Yeps. I've heard it too, as heart health.

Yeah, I know that. Huh. I must've confused the word "moderately" with something else.

Red Wine is a source of antioxidants, not sure about other forms of alcohol.

Yep, moderate alcohol consumption has been linked to overall circulatory health. It seems to help reduce levels of arterial plaque, for one thing.

I think I need to read an English dictionary again. Why the hell did I think that "moderate" meant "above average"? tongue

Wine is about the only alcohol that I don't mind the taste of. Rather ironic, perhaps.

I enjoy most kinds of alcohol, with some of the dryer red and white wines excepted. The taste just puckers my mouth too much to really like it. I prefer wines with higher residual sugar content, like blushes and dessert wines and the like.

When I drink beer, I prefer stouts, full flavored lagers, and wheat beers. Light beers and the swill that is Budweiser, Miller, Coors, and the other major brands can just go suck it. If I want beer-flavored water I'll pour a Killian's in a toilet and drink out of that... not that I'd disrespect a Killian's in that manner.

Liquor is fine, straight or mixed, although I have a thing about tequila after a certain New Year's fiasco when I was young and stupid.
