This is a thread for people who will not be or have not been on the site for a while, whether due to real life or to resist an internet addiction, the latter of which is encouraged within reason. Also, talk about the benefits/whatever of taking a day or a weekend off, or things to do when not online. TV Tropes ruining your life is nothing to be proud of.
Generally, expect the following from this thread:
- People announcing their departure or return.
- Moderators announcing a significant forum ban — not trolls or vandals, but someone people will notice and miss.
- Inquiries about an absent troper.
- Responses to inquiries about an absent troper.

See what coming? I don't even know what happened... <_<

I vowed, and so did you: Beyond this wall- we would make it through. The Omega Ban.
The thing that I predicted with a lovably adorable smiling bomb that's clearly about to explode.
I don't think I could have made the metaphor any clearer.

That didn't need to happen.
Mmm. They are losses, but ones prepared for already.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.@Tomu
I don't know if that policy is justified, but I guess people are saying that Triple Elation's case wasn't so much an export of drama. If you're active here and at the same time you're only saying bad things about this place in the other place, then yes.
But Triple Elation's case seems to be more of someone who already moved on to another site to testify the "drama" and share the experience, according to some people. If the response to talk there is to ban a probably unused account here, with "traitor" message, then isn't that a "counter-drama"?
Now using Trivialis handle.*waits a little while*
Hmm...
Nope. Still angry.
*shrug*
That's part of what people were up in arms about. Including me.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I feel like people always tend to say this about the more ubiquitous posters on the site. Not trying to diminish what you were saying there, but it just seems like this is a statement people always trot out after someone who would post a lot is banned.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.@Tom: The administration cares about that thread, or, at least, if I were the administration, I would care about that thread, because that thread tarnishes the good name of this site, which might not seem so important to you, but, if this site has a bad reputation, people are going to be less likely to come here, and people leave this site for a variety of reasons anyway, so we do need people coming into the site to keep our numbers stable or rising.
Now, if our numbers begin to drop, less people will click on ads, so the site will make less money, and it costs money to keep the site going, and, if the money we make drops below the money that's needed to maintain the site, it's just going to die off, probably starting with the fora.
Well, the more ubiquitous posters tend to be people who are deeply invested in the site, and the culture here is different from what the administration thinks it should be in ways that tend to chafe.
Fresh-eyed movie blogDon't address me-I take a non-stance on whether banning people over exporting/importing Drama is a good stance to have.
My entire approach to this is to remain as neutral as is possible while still informing people that they're acting in a way that's likely to get them banned. Which didn't work but meh.
Long story short, if people have deeply invested opinions, they're more willing to pick a fight over them.

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.@Nya: I'm just saying, it's a general trend I've noticed. Just making an empirical observation.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

Thanks for that explanation, but why even read the SA thread at all, if it bothers you that much? They say themselves that they don't interfere with the site directly, and only indirectly as much as you let them.
There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!
