Darkenning, did you name Ayaka's mother after Sailor Venus, or was it coincidence? For the sake of consistency between Ala Iridia universes, I try to use already existing fanon names when a canon one doesn't exist, but since Aino Minako already isn't Ayaka's mother in URAE, of course, I'd have to use another name for Ayaka's mom if I ever go there.

Edited and sorted what you sent me, OM. will send preview to Iridia for your perusal. Also, I think Ayaka's mom is dead. You implied as much, and in the manga, only her dad is ever mentioned.

[up][up] It's not coincidence, but since there aren't any Sailor Senshi in the Decadent-verse, she's not the former Aino Minako, but someone else given that personal name. I was considering calling her Junko but I decided that was a bit too blatant.

Right, as if the Hadoken would be of any threat to Negi. [lol]

The last snippet of Seishun chapter 3.

Do you know what this means*

?

I'VE FINALLY FINISHED THE THIRD CHAPTER!

FUCK YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

000000000000000

After Asuna caught Misora, everyone returned to the classroom. An hour of talking, eating, and laughing passed and everyone participated in cleaning up. When the clean up was done, the girls started to say Negi good night and head back to their dorms for the night. By the time he exited the building along with Asuna, Konoka, and Takamichi, darkness blanketed the sky. He found it to be oddly soft and comforting.

"Hey, I’ll take care of the trash."Takamichi offered, indicating a bag of trash Negi was holding.

"It’s all right, Takahata-sensei."Negi refused.

"Negi-sensei, I’m the one with the car."Takamichi chuckled. "Ah, that reminds me, I brought your trunk."He pointed at a convertible that was parked near the school building.

"Ah, thank you, Takahata-sensei!"

As he handed over the trunk, Takamichi whispered to Negi in incomplete English.

"Hey, Negi?”

"Yes, Takamichi."

"For the time being, don’t actively try to bring her memory back, okay?"

Negi went silent for a moment but just sighed.

"All right. Promise me, though. You have to me what happened."

Takamichi flinched at this.

"Look, it doesn’t even have to be everything you know so just tell me as much as you can, understand?"Negi declared."

"I suppose you are really into this. Okay, I can do that."Takamichi bitterly smiled. "We can discuss this later. Get some rest for tomorrow, okay?"

"All right."

Negi held out his fist and Takamichi didn’t hesitate.

Former members of Ala Rubra bumped their fists together once again.

"Good night, Negi."

"Good night, Takamichi."

After waving at the girls, Takamichi drove away.

"So ladies."Konoka and Asuna turned to him. "When do you go to sleep?"

"Why do you ask?"Asuna inquired.

"Oh, seeing how having me in your dorm will obviously make you uncomfortable, I was thinking about staying in the teacher’s office until late night and…"

"Oi, hold it right there."Asuna interjected.

"Wha-what?"

"You don’t have to do that."

"Eh…eh?"

"What, do I have to speak English? Let me repeat, you don’t have to do that. Damn it, loosen up a bit! It’s not like you are ruining our lives or anything."

Asuna huffed. Konoka giggled at the display.

"In that case…thank you."

"I mean, don’t act like one of those teachers who stay at the school late night because they are scared of their wives. That’s kinda pathetic."

"So, you are Negi-sensei’s wife, then?"

"WHAT?!"Asuna and Negi both turned to Konoka, their faces flushed.

"It’s good that you guys are already acting like an old married couple."Konoka giggled.

"We’re not, damn you!"

Negi covered his face with his palm again. Like grandfather like granddaughter…

000000000000000

The train ride to the dorm was quiet and smooth, which Negi appreciated very much. The train was also far less crowded so Negi and the girls were even able to take a seat. Unlike during morning, people were chatting a lot less and there were even some students who were dozing off. He wanted to do just that but refrained at the fear of doing something stupid again.

Faintly rhythmical rattling of the train made it feel like a cradle and he discarded the idea of finding an alternative means transportation. He thought about all that happened that day. He started his first trial, met new people, and ran into troubles. He also met another former companion and made a vow for her. All things considered, it wasn’t too bad for the first day.

It took him some effort to stand up when the train arrived at the dormitory building. As he headed to the building, he got some odd stares from several girls but by that point he was too exhausted to care.

"And we’re here!"Konoka announced cheerfully.

The sheer size and the design of the building reminded of Meldiana Academy once again. The academy had a large dorm too but it was closer to a university, not a middle school. Just exactly how much was the tuition of the place?

"Wow, it looks simply magnificent."

"You haven’t seen anything yet."Asuna said.

It didn’t take them long to arrive at the room.

"Okay, Negi-sensei, are you ready?"Konoka asked.

"Oh, come on, Konoka."Asuna rolled her eyes.

Even though he was exhausted, he still felt nervous, albeit slightly, at the prospect of entering a girls’ room.

"Well…I guess?"

"Oh right, then. Tada!"

Konoka opened the door and what was inside impressed Negi. Not only the furniture was new and modern, the room also had a TV and a video player between desks! Compared to very modest room he had back in Pembrokeshire, the place was simply luxurious. It genuinely pleased him that his students were enjoying such an excellent lodging.

"…Wow."

"What are you so impressed about?"

"You certainly keep your room tidy, don’t you?"Negi looked around. "It looks almost new."

"Why, thank you, sensei."Konoka said. Asuna didn’t reply, however, and just coughed. Maybe she didn’t really participate on cleaning?

"Oh hey, what do you know?"Asuna said, pointing at something. "There’s an extra futon!"

Konoka and Negi also noticed a neatly folded futon at the corner of the room.

"That’s very fortunate; sensei won’t have to sleep on the couch."

"Hang on, you Yanks don’t use futons, do they?"

"Well, prior to coming here, I often slept on futon so it shouldn’t be a problem. Also, I’m from Wales, not America, Asuna-san."

"Oh. I..I knew that!"Asuna awkwardly laughed. Negi just shrugged.

"By the way, what happened to your prediction today?"Asuna asked, trying to change the subject.

"Hmm? What prediction?"

"You know, about five people falling?"

"Well, there isn’t a way for me to know, really."

Negi then did a count. From chronological order, there were Nodoka, Ako, him, Akira, and lastly…Asuna…

"……Wow."

"What is it, sensei?"Konoka asked.

"Uhm…Konoka-san, are you well versed in fortune telling?"

"I can’t say I am. I am really interested in it, though. Why do you ask?"

"…No reason."

"Where should we put this futon and his trunk?"Asuna cut in.

"Anywhere’s fine for me."

"Well, for the night, let’s put the trunk on the couch and the futon next to it."

"Yeah, that should work well enough. I can’t be bothered with the arranging for the night."

Negi shared the same sentiment with her.

"Oi, new...Negi."Asuna called.

"Yes?"

"Let’s set some basic rules here."

Negi gulped.

"Sheesh, relax! They aren’t going to be a whole lot."

"Ah, okay."Negi said, producing a pencil and a notepad out of nowhere.

"They’re simple, really. First of all, always remember that you are a fifteen year old who are living with middle school girls and you absolutely don’t want any trouble. Are you getting it?"

"Oh yes, absolutely."Negi scribbled down what she just said.

"Good. So that means don’t be a pervert. Ever. So far you are doing fine enough, so keep it up. Naturally, don’t touch our stuff without permission and when I and Konoka are getting changed, go to the restroom. It also applies when you are getting changed as well."

"Understood."

"Also, when you enter the bathroom, always knock first."

"Got it."

"And for the others…well, those are all I can think of right now. Do you have any suggestion, Konoka?"

"Oh, I have one!"

Negi tensed up.

"Make yourself at home!"Konoka cheerfully said.

"Understood…wait what?"

"Sensei, you are being too tense."Konoka wagged her finger. "Sure, a pretty boy like you living in the room with girls who are in the same age is really odd. Feeling all tense, however, isn’t going to help it either, don’t you think so, Asuna?"

"Huh…wha…eh…I guess so.”

"You don’t really mind having him in this room, do you?"

"Okay, of course I still do! In fact, you are the strange one for thinking otherwise!"

"Maybe. Still, you don’t want him out of the room."

"Of course I……I……no."

Asuna found herself unable to finish her words for some reason.

"Welcome to our room, Negi-sensei."Konoka warmly smiled.

"Thank you Konoka-san, Asuna-san. I’m very grateful of your hospitality."Negi bowed.

"Don’t mention it."Konoka giggled. "Sensei, you look really tired. Maybe you should go to the bed early tonight. You had a really long day, after all."

"Oh, I’m fine.”

"Don’t lie."Negi turned to Asuna. "You have "Exhausted as Hell"written all over you. Just go to the bed, so you won’t doze off during the lectures."

"Uhm…well, in that case…okay."

"You know what, I wanna hit the sack earlier today. I feel exhausted too."

000000000000000

Wearing a grey pajama pants and a cotton shirt, Negi hung his coat and suit. He then got training outfits and jump ropes from the trunk and placed them on the couch, neatly folded. The roadwork shall be continued the next morning.

Before he closed the trunk, he got one more object from it. Smiling, he placed it right next to his pillow.

"Okay, lights off. Since I told everyone that we’ll be hitting the sack early, they won’t bother us for tonight."Asuna said, turning the light off.

"Good night, Asuna. Negi-sensei?"

"What is it, Konoka-san?”

"You really did a good job today.”

"Yeah, yeah. Get some sleep, will ya? You’ll need it."Asuna yawned, effortlessly walking through the obstacles, including the couch and him, and climbing on to the top bunk.

"Okay, thank you for your concern. Good night, Konoka-san, Asuna-san."

"Good night!"

"G’night."

With that, everyone became silent. For a moment, he felt that he was so tired that he couldn’t even sleep and shifted his body around until his eyes focused on his second most treasured item. Soft moonlight pouring through the windows illuminated the object.

The framed photo had everyone from Ala Rubra, including his mother and Asuna. Since as early as when he started to think he had been looking up to them. The man who stood at the center of the picture, however, overshadowed all of them.

Nagi Springfield, the Thousand Master, was wearing a confident smile as he almost always did. The man had no fear, no hesitations, and no equals. He was a valiant man who always gave everything he got to save everyone who was in need. Even though he had tendency to be hotheaded and reckless at times, at the grand scheme of things he always succeeded. Because he achieved so much, it would be a futile effort to list all of his heroic feats. There were even times when Negi half-seriously thought that the man was divine.

To the teenager the man was simply the greatest man ever lived and was the very definition of a hero. For all of fifteen years of his life, Negi’s one and only dream was to be a man worthy of being called his father’s son and walking beside him. It only became even clearer when he received the man’s staff, which instantly became his most treasured item. He became convinced that there was only one road lying ahead of him and that he should throw everything he had to follow it. So he did.

Negi found his own image, albeit much younger, on the picture. His younger self was perched on his father’s head not unlike a kitten. He smiled at how insignificant he looked in comparison to his hero. For him, his father’s head was his cradle and simply the most comfortable place to be, even more than his mother’s arms. Because of it, he always had a fortune to witness his father’s feats with his very own eyes. Being targeted by his foes was only an extremely small price to pay.

What he did in his first day of teaching was far from dignified, if not outright disgraced his father’s name. He also remembered the vow he made for Asuna that day. He clenched his fist. He would most definitely get his acts straightened up, for the sake of following his dream and Asuna.

Not long after, the teenager succumbed to sleep, hoping to dream about his father.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.

A Decadent Habits Christmas
Chapter Twenty-One: Akira

She hadn't wanted to let Yuna go off by herself the way that she did. But she didn't want to force her companionship on her friend either. Akira knew perfectly well that Yuna would be feeling her usual welter of poorly understood emotions about her father and their ... relationship.

She sometimes found it difficult to avoid shuddering at the very idea of it. She was sure that Yuna noticed it when she did, and that it upset her. Yet more proof that Akira was the most socially maladroit person in their class. Move over Zazie! Here comes a new challenger!

Oh, what a mass of self-pity she'd become. She was almost glad that her parents were busy helping to get that new hospital in Metropolis up and running, resulting in her being effectively stuck here over the holidays. They'd have had no patience with her immaturity and self-absorption.

She missed them terribly.

Well, then, what to do with herself this evening? It was a question asked more in jest than in earnest. It would have been nice if she'd had more interests, but the fact was that there was only one thing Akira cared to do when she was in this sort of mood. Well, two things, but going back to the dorms so that she could masturbate didn't appeal at the moment.

Of course, there were always distractions in any endeavor. As she walked, she chanced to glimpse Negi sitting by the river and chatting with Ku Fei. She watched from a distance, just a bit envious of their closeness and ease with one another, as they sparred a bit. Then Konoka showed up and said something that had Negi running off, and she and Ku Fei chatted a bit, and parted after a hug.

A hug. Such a simple gesture. She could probably have gotten a hug herself if she'd just gone up to them. But she'd let the moment pass, and now it was too late. Story of her life, really. Akira went on her way.

She came to the indoor pool a little while later. It was locked up, of course, but she had a key given to her by the swim team's captain given to her after her first gold. It was strictly against school rules for her to come her on her own to train when there was no supervision, but the rules were bent on occasion.

Making her way to the locker room, Akira changed out of her clothes and into her swimsuit, then headed out into the poool. She considered turning on the lights, but decided that it would attract too much attention. Besides, the darkness suited her dark mood.

The water was much cooler than the heated baths at the dorm would have been. But she had it all to herself. She reflected on that priority as she floated along the pool's surface, getting used to the temperature. I'm all over the place, aren't I, she thought. I want to be alone. I'm envious of people who aren't alone.

I hate violence, and it's all that I'm good at.

Now, that bothered her a lot more than all the internal confusion did. The only way that she could help her friends was to embrace a part of her that terrified both her and them. Why did this have to happen to me? she thought as she started swimming the pool's length. Why couldn't I make a simple pactio and get a nice power, like Makie's or Natsumi's? Why do I have to be some sort of berserker? Who needs that? What's the point —

It came to Akira, then, that she'd just swam the regulation length of the pool and back twice over, in just a bit under two minutes. She wasn't sure, but she thought that might be a record. Not a school record. A world record. And she wasn't even out of breath.

Well, maybe she was useful for something other than simply chopping people's heads off. But she couldn't see a way that being able to swim very fast was supposed to help someone. Maybe she should consider a career as a lifeguard.

A vision of herself in a Baywatch swimsuit floated through her head, and she sighed. Drawing in a deep breath, she let herself sink down below the surface. Ever since that day, so long ago, when she'd seen that dolphin playing, she'd yearned to be surrounded by water like he'd been. Like she was now. It was comforting, the way all of her troubles seemed to slip away into the cool caress of the water.

And then she stopped holding her breath.

Wait, she thought as the water flowed into her mouth and lungs. What am I doing?

Not quite panicking, but with her earlier comfort a distant memory, Akira slammed her feet against the pool's surface and pushed herself up towards the surface. As she cleared it, she gagged, forcing the water she'd swallowed and inhaled back up again. It was awful. But better than the alternative.

"That doesn't look like a whole lot of fun," Yuna opined form where she was sitting on the bleachers overlooking the pool.

"Yuna?" Akira gasped, breathing more heavily than she had when she'd swam those lengths. "What, when, how —"

"A while ago," Yuna answered vaguely. "You looked pretty into it, so I didn't want to interrupt. As for how I got in here, well, I kinda sorta shot off the door's lock."

"Of course you did," Akira sighed.

"Mind if I join you?" Yuna asked, kicking off her shoes.

"Oh. Sure, there are some spare suits in the change room, and there's bound to be one in your size."

Yuna stared at her. Akira stared back.

"Oh," Akira said a moment later, as Yuna started to strip off her clothes and drop them on the pool's deck. "Or you could do that, of course."

Moments later, Yuna bobbed nakedly in the water beside her, and Akira found it difficult to avoid staring. Why? she thought. The first time we did anything was in the shower. I've seen her wet and naked plenty of times. There's no reason for my hormones to be so —

"We gotta talk," Yuna said abruptly. "There's, there's something I've got to tell you. About me, and you, and, well, me, sort of ..." She trailed off.

"I'm listening," Akira said. She might only be good at swimming and berserk violence, but she could listen pretty well. Maybe that was her real talent. She hoped so.

@Marq

The Hadoken would be nasty. It carries somewhere arround thirty megatons of power, if my estimations from the sheer size of the explosion are anything to go by.

Hellmaster Black Mage's Hadoken is insanely powerful. Apparently enough to kill Sarda, also known as The Wizard Who Did It and Omnipotent Jackass, if he hadn't absorbed the orbs' powers. It's also pretty much the evil in his heart turned into a beam, instead of the usual Hadoken, which is fueled by Love.

Now try to picture what would happen should Negi use the Dark Hadoken as an Armationem...

I... I can't believe what I'm about to say.

I just got back from the Funeral. Those things are always bittersweet with my family. While yes someone's died, they're the closest thing to a family reunion we get.

Also, I know the regular Hadoken is definitely powered by sucking love out of the universe. The black hadoken, I'm not sure about. It might just be the normal one given a powerup by all the stuff BM absorbed.

Also, I think Ayaka's mom is dead. You implied as much, and in the manga, only her dad is ever mentioned.

I actually don't remember ever implying Ayaka's mother was dead, but then again, my memory is very faulty.

URAE Mrs. Yukihiro probably won't have a Japanese name anyway, since I'm thinking of making her a Gaijin married to a half-Japanese. It'd be easier to explain Ayaka's very non-Japanese looks if she's only 1/4th Japanese.

Edit: Ah, you sent the Doc? Thanks, I'll go check it and give my impressions in a few hours after dinner.

EDIT: Wait, no, the Doc isn't in Iridia yet.
