[up]If you want an idea, do it this way. What do you want to read? What situation would you like to find out about? Then you find out along with your audience. It's how I ended up doing this after all.

To paraphrase CS Lewis: ""I wrote the fanfics I should have liked to read, if only I could have found them. That's always been my reason for writing."

That's basically my motivation.

Is there a trope for that? Not exactly It's Been Done, but something along those lines...

[up]Creator Worship? Only for fanfic writers? None of us are infalable. Even if you decide that you'd never enjoy a Negima fanfic as much as the ones already out there, there are fanfics of fanfics. Plus, you don't have to opperate on the same scale as any of the works that we're putting out. You could do something small. How did that one off-panel conversation go? Or huge! A multi-generational, time-travelling, multiple-world-spanning fanfic involving flashbacks and flashforards to canon involving both ancestors and descendants of the main characters and their many OC and crossover companions!

[up]Look back at canon (or one of the fanfics if you decide to go that route). Was there ever a point where you got curious about an event or possibility that was never covered? Or even was covered, but you wondered about alternatives! Start there.

EDIT: And honestly, I have developped drooling fanboy syndrome over some of the authors here. I admit it.

That's right.

GHQ started because my joint story, When Light Descends to Madness, the other author got railed out by real life, and I was getting into Disgaea at the time, so I went for my own version.

Sometimes though, there are more ideas than you have time to write for, so that does happen.

BTW, should SCM ever decide he wants to draw me, I am an average height dood with dark skin and thin glasses. I tend not to care about appearance very much outside of being comfortable and not "ZOMG WHY SO CRAAAAAZY"

@Sereg: If it comes down between if Konoka would find Asuna, Nodoka or Setsuna (couldn't narrow it down beyond that) most amusing making out with Negi, it would go Nodoka > Asuna >>>> Setsuna.

I suppose my big block in figuring out how to do the Joker thing is how'd he try to prank me.

You know you want to add more tropes to THIS.

More than Fifty Four Negi and Chisame Threesomes

Negi, Chisame and Lime

"... So, we were wondering if you knew something about it," Chisame asked Hakase, her tone still even cool and calm even though she was grabbing the smaller girl by her lab coat's collar and almost lifting her off her feet, her eyes drilling into hers.

Hakase was adjusting her glasses, looking at the dark haired android who laughed while clutching to Chisame's back and holding Negi under an arm. "I can't say I do... and I'm pretty sure Chao would have told me about such a project, had she been working on it prior her departure. And you say she started following you after you opened her underground capsule?"

Negi and Hasegawa nodded at once.

"Fascinating!" Satomi inhaled. "An instant imprinting proccess, allowing her basic emotional development in the span of a few hours! It took Chachamaru months to achieve that level, and she still can't laugh that out loud... A truly perplexing development!"

The robot girl stopped laughing and pouted. "I'm not a truly, I'm Lime!"

"On the other hand, her language and cultural data banks will need intensive updating," Hakase mused.

Chisame made a suffering sound. "Why do robots always latch onto me?"

"Not always, I have to say!" Asuna grumbled, sitting a few feet aside with a petite lavender haired girl in a pink kimono hugging her right arm. "Waa, Cherry, stop doing that! People will get the wrong idea!"

Seated at their right, Mana had a neutral face on as Bloodberry ran a teasing finger in circles over her cheek. "I only need to know if this one's going to be expensive in her maintenance or not..."

@Cygnus: Perhaps he'd try to use gaming jokes?

Also, you were actually first on my list on people to ask about that scene as you're an expert on that subject! But, you're slightly off track. Konoka's going to use the oppertunity to finally get the pactio that she's been wanting for so long. At the same time, she'll say that Setsuna no longer has her excuse about kissing girls to fall back on, so she should do it too. She'll also use the oppertunity to tease Setsuna about how they've now had an indirect kiss already (ala Negima!?) and so upgrading to a direct kiss shouldn't be so bad. My question is, would Konoka prefer to kiss Negi first or wait until after he's kissed Setsuna? Also, how long after Negi has arrived will it take her to enact this plan?

I love Chekov's Gun, I really do. Final part of Decadent 30.

Negi and his companions encountered Haruna, Nodoka, Yue and the Ariadne girls before they were even out of the dormitory, and the two groups quickly merged on Negi's instructions. Kotaro and Natsumi weren't far behind them. By the time they arrived at the plaza from which the tower had emerged, they'd also linked up with Ako and Akira, who'd been out walking in the town.

"Where's Makie-san?" Negi asked Ako.

"I don't know!" she replied, on the verge of panic. "I haven't seen her since yesterday, she didn't come home, do you think —"

"I'm sure she's fine!" Negi quickly replied, despite being nothing of the sort. Nor was Makie the only absentee about whom he was worried. where were his non-magical students? Where were the cheerleaders, where were the twins? Where was Chizuru?

Where was his mother?

And on top of all this, he was all too aware that most of his party was already worn out from their debauchery of the last few hours. He wasn't all that steady on his own feet. All this made him wonder if the best thing to do might be to just scout the area and then get out so that the adults could handle this situation, whatever it was.

"What do we do, Negi-sensei?" he heard Yue ask just as they arrived at the plaza, and he opened his mouth to express those very thoughts.

Just then panels on the sides of the tower opened up, and dozens of armored vehicles, some looking highly advanced, launched from it.

Negi drew in a deep breath. "Same thing we always do," he said. "We fight."

On the bottom step of the staircase that went around the pillar on which her resort rested, Evangeline Athanasia Katherine McDowell was pouting. She would not have appreciated being told that she was pouting, but that was the right word to describe the way that she was frowning and thinking dark thoughts about the injustice of the universe.

"Master?" said Chachamaru, standing a little to her side. "What will our response be to this situation?"

"I've got a great idea of what we should do!" Chachazero said enthusiastically.

"If you want to kill people," Evangeline said sourly, "go right ahead."

Privately, Chachazero thought this was rather unfair of the Master, since, despite the barrier's collapse, the deadly doll couldn't actually do anything. The curse sealing the Master's powers was still in effect. If it were night, and the moon was full, it would have been a different story. But it was still day, and the moon was weeks from fullness.

"Master — would it be permissible if I were to —"

"You want to go help the boya, don't you?" Evangeline asked, not turning to look at her companion. Her senses were keen enough to hear Chachamaru nodding. "Why do you love him?" she asked.

Chachamaru took a moment, and then answered. "Because he reminds me of the parts of you that I love, as well as respect."

Evangeline's eyes closed. At any other time, she'd have yelled at her servant for that implication, but it seemed like she just couldn't muster the indignation. "Fine. Go."

"Thank you, Master." Her rockets flared and she took off, flying in the direction of the tower that shared domination of the horizon with the world tree.

Evangeline's eyes stayed closed for a few more moments, before she heard a footstep nearby. She opened them and became wary once more. There was something familiar about the blonde woman in the disheveled dress who was approaching her, but she couldn't quite — and then she did place her. "Nekane Springfield," she said.

"You are Evangeline ... aren't you?" she asked, her voice as unsteady as her tread. "Negi told me about ... please, you have to help him."

"I've sent the best part of me to do just that," Evangeline replied. "I don't have to do anything more."

"I kind of object to that description," Chachazero noted, but no one was paying attention.

"No, no, I know, I heard stories about you, you're the Mage of the Evil Sound, you can do things —"

"Right now, I'm a moderately powerful vampire who doesn't have to hide in the darkness and isn't bothered by holy symbols, and that's about it," Evangeline snapped. "Even if I wanted to help him, which I don't, I couldn't do a blessed thing —"

"Please!" Nekane cried out. "You have to save my son!"

Evangeline snorted. "Am I supposed to care that you raised him because his mother got kidnapped and —"

"No! I bore him!" Nekane shrieked.

Few things in this world could truly surprise Evangeline. This managed it. All she could do for a second was stare at the English woman with an open mouth, before she finally hissed, "What?"

"I, I was young, a-and foolish, and I wanted to show my father how grown-up I was, and when Nagi came back to tell us he was going to be a father, I decided that this would be a good way to do it, and so I crept into his room, and, and I didn't know he'd slept with my mother, I didn't know he might be my, my, and I didn't know, and then I was pregnant, and he'd left, and I couldn't tell anyone who the father was, and they came back together, and she was so so much more perfect than I was, and I knew he'd never leave her for me ..."

She drew in a shuddering breath before continuing, slightly more calmly. "Our babies were born in the same week, hers just a few days before, and everyone thought it was funny how much they looked alike. And then they started to make plans, and they were going to leave Negi with me while they set things up to go to America, and I said I'd take care of him, and ... and I tried, I really did, but he wouldn't stop crying, and, and ..."

"What did you do?" Evangeline asked, appalled.

"It was an accident!" Nekane screamed.

Chachazero might have made a comment at this point, but the horrified look on the Master's face kept her in check.

"So, you see, I, I had to betray them, I had to have time to set things up so that they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the children, you see. I've paid!" She was sobbing, now. "I've paid for the crime, surely? I've never been able to tell him I'm his mother, I've only ever been the big sister, and surely that's payment, surely, and what I've done, what I've had to do —"

"I pity you," Evangeline interrupted. "I really do. I don't think I've ever met anyone as pathetic as you. But I can't do anything, I'm cursed —"

"I can break the curse," Nekane told her. "I have the Thousand Master's —"

"Stop it," Evangeline said as she started to get to her feet. "Don't, don't even — I'd have to drain all of your blood, you'd die, he'd never forgive me —"

"I don't want to live like this! I'm all rotten inside, can't you see that? He, I, this can't go on —"

"Then tell him, or kill yourself, I don't care which! I don't kill women and children, I will not be a party to your suicide!"

What happened next should not have happened. Evangeline was, as she said, a moderately powerful vampire and a master of puppetry. There was no way that a normal human, even a slightly accomplished magician, should have been able to rush her in such a way as to force her to the stairs and then bite down on a certain part of the shinso's neck that, when bitten, will cause the shinso to bite down on the neck of the one biting her. It should not have happened.

And yet that was the position in which Evangeline found herself a moment later, drinking deep of the blood of Nekane Springfield, straight from the jugular vein.

No, she thought, and sent that thought directly into Nekane's mind, through the connection they now shared. No, stop this. I am your master, so stop this!

Nekane did not stop. She should not have been able to resist the compulsion behind that thought. She should have grown weaker as her blood and her magic were drained away, and released the death grip she held on Evangeline's neck. And yet she did not.

It was a day of wonders. Some wonders are dark indeed.

And then, as she commanded, and begged, and humiliatingly pleaded, Evangeline felt the curse shatter. With a last cry, she pushed Nekane away from her, and the woman collapsed to the ground before her.

"Fool," Evangeline said as she looked down on Nekane's still living form. "Fool! You have thrown away your life for nothing! I have no reason to help him! I am free! Free of all of this!" Oddly, she didn't sound happy for this development. There was more of an element of despair in her tone. "I have no reason to help him or anyone!"

"Can we at least kill some people?" Chachazero asked as, for the first time in fifteen years, she came to her feet outside the resort.

"Fool!" Evangeline repeated, summoning up her cloak of bats and striding away, with the doll following behind her.

Nekane was still alive, though her awareness was fading. All she could feel was awful coldness, and even that seemed very far away. And now she was alone, too.

And then she wasn't. There was a man in a hood, looking down at her with a grieving expression. He had a staff like Negi's, the one he claimed his father had given him. Actually, he looked a lot like Nagi. And he was speaking, just loud enough to hear. "It's all right, grandma. It's going to be all right, now. The tide is starting to turn, because of what you did. It's going to be all right."

Grandma? What a strange thing to call her. Negi was far too young to have any children of his own. Why, then this must all just be a dream, just a horrible, horrible dream. Any moment now she would

@Sereg: Well! Now that you remind me, in Negima!? she kissed Negi first, to push Setsuna into making a move—but that was because she wanted to protect Setsuna in turn. Here the circumstances are a little different, so I imagine that Konoka will move whenever she senses enough hesitation in Setsuna, and would likely kiss Negi first. I always see Konoka as the proactive one in their romance.

Unequally, Continuation.

It was quite obvious now that, while Itoshiki had naturally fast feet and nervous agility, he was not used to intensive and prolonged physical effort, so his earlier claims of having the same speed as Negi, while accurate at first, were proved wrong at that point. Still, the esoteric nature of his spells, ranging from areas no sane teacher in Merdiana would ever teach their students, or even keep in books available for the youngsters, combined with his deceiving long range capacities, were making up for it.

While Negi stuck to his eight basic combat spells usable on human beings, Itoshiki had a wider pool to access to, many of them tricky and confusing, dealing with misdirection before suckering the adversary into a straight strike. Erebus himself was not familiar with those, and he assumed they had to be born from some of the different magical specialities that world had compared to his own. So he attentively watched and learned, paying the utmost attention.

Takane stood next to him with her arms crossed and a haughty scowl on her face. Ai's teeth chattered as she took notes frantically, and Chamo sat on his hinder legs, shouting encouragement to Negi, but being mostly unheard over the rumbles of the Sagitta Magica and the shadow bombs.

Once again, the older man shouted in perfect English, "Tigers and panthers, jumping out of my heart!" And with that, four large shadowy figures sprang into existence around him, vaguely identifiable as four legged beasts of some sort, lunging for Negi.

"Evocatio Valcyriarum!" the child shouted back, neutralizing the shadow beings with his own Valkyrie summonings, barely managing to overcome them. He could feel the grim power brimming around Nozomu's constructions. If they truly came from his disturbed heart, then no wonder he felt so distressed all the time...

Then he felt something small and thin, but tight and hard as a steel cable, wrapping itself around one of his ankles, pulling him down to the ground with a single mighty yank. Then Itoshiki clapped his hands, saying, "Nevermore!", and a huge flock of demonic looking crows materialized itself over Negi, swarming him from all directions.

Takane lifted a hand high. "It's over! Itoshiki-sensei wins this combat!"

The pale and scrawny man gasped and panted loudly, dispersing the crows into nothingness with another clap. Negi sat up coughing, rubbing feathers off his mouth, as said feathers became black dust in the air. "Sen... Sensei! If you could do all that, why didn't you do it in the fight against Evangeline-san?"

"I used a stronger variation of the shadow tendril that snared you to bind her, remember?" Despair told him, fixing his hakama. "And you saw how well it turned. Employing dark magic against Evangeline-san is like trying to drown an ocean down. Besides, I was scared out of my wits against her," he admitted, not making much out of it.

"Five minutes of rest," Takane told Negi. "Then, I'll be your next opponent."

Negi looked up at her before nodding, trying to regain his shaken resolve after the defeat.

Erebus came to his side, patting his back. "Don't worry. He has years of experience over you. You did fairly well, all things considered."

"Thanks," the younger Springfield nodded, helping himself a glass of cold water from a thermos to feel better. Ai had nervously raced at Itoshiki's side, complimenting him clumsily and offering him a hand towel to wipe the sweat off his forehead.

"Are... Are you okay, Sensei? Sorry about intruding in your personal matters, but—"

He breathed in and out, nodding erratically. "Yes, I'm okay, Kaga-san, thanks for asking. That's what makes me feel so strange. I hadn't been allowed a moment of superiority over anyone in years! That almost alien by now feeling confuses and even infuriates me! How can it be? How can someone as lowly as myself be allowed this after so much suffering and pointless distress? Why?"

Takane slapped him across the head. "You're only making him to feel worse!"

Erebus blinked. "... Is he saddened because he won?"

Negi shrugged. "I think he hasn't quite grasped the concept of a victory yet, for some reason..."
