That sound you just heard was the Closet Rangerphile alert going off.
Seriously, Gadget and Hakase working in the lab together is a recipe for instant AWESOME!
It doesn't go anywhere from there (other than friends maybe). I'm allergic to yuri and Gadget being in the same sentence.

Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein.
I thought that was the sound of my household heating turning on.
To make this post Negima related, Asuna is now a body guard with a crossbow, and a fan servicy outfit(look at Lian Shi tropes).

Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2@Marq: If I ever get to Mundus Magicus and get to do the Kingdom Hearts subplot starring Hasegawa Sora, I'll make sure to have Gadget handling the Gummi Ship instead of (or in addition to) Chip and Dale. That's good enough for you?
Also, not the same thing, but Hakase's dialogue in the first chapter of the Library Island story hinted at the presence of two genetically modified lab mice at her laboratory. I wonder if I also could slip a cameo of a test chimp named Mojo as well. After all, Momoko, Miyako and Kaoru have cameoed already.

@Sinclair: You know what the funny thing is? I can honestly tell you that I practically forgot about the Rescue Rangers show - let alone Gadget herself - for the last nine or so years. * In fact, I think it's only thanks to TV Tropes that my interest in the Rescue Rangers had been reignited, not the least reason being due to learning of Gadget's Badass Action Girl stint in the Cult of Cola case - I wonder how I forgot about that? I've resorted to watching that part on Youtube, and for the life of me IT DOESN'T RING ANY BELLS AT ALL! I must've missed that episode when it was broadcast; the local channel that it's shown on is never consistent in its broadcast times.
@Over Master Napoleon De Cheese: No need to go that far.
I'd settle for a simple one-shot from anyone. I was partly curious as to what you would think about the foursome; that's why that part of my post was phrased to be directed at you.

You know you want to add loveUnequally, Lesson 24, Continuation.
Akira smiled gently as she walked into the indoors pool area, being greeted by the shorter dark haired girl. "Good afternoon, Mizuno-san."
The blond, long haired girl with the red bow on her head standing behind Mizuno Ami waited as both teammates took each other's hands and shook them briefly. Then the girl with short hair introduced her. "Akira-chan, I'd like you to meet my roommate, Aino Minako. Minako, this is Ookuchi Akira, the junior star of our team."
"It's a pleasure," Akira bowed.
"The pleasure is all mine!" the Minako girl grinned. The white cat roaming around her feet had paused, giving Akira an intense, intrigued glare. "I've seen you during Ami-chan's competitions. You swim faster than a dolphin! How do you do it?"
The 3-A student-to-be looked somewhat ashamed. "Oh, no, it's nothing. I've just trained hard, that's all. I'd never managed it without Mizuno-san's help, and everyone else's. Besides, I'm still far below Ichinose-sempai's level."
"You mean the girl you're saying goodbye to now?"
"Yes. Ichinose-sempai led us to victory in four straight regional championships," Akira answered. "However, she has just graduated, and she'll be leaving for Toudai.."
"Man, you were so lucky to have an ace like her..." Aino mused, rolling her blue eyes around. "I wish we had someone like that in the volleyball team..."
"I'm sure you'll do better next term," Ami told her. "This year, you just had bad luck, going against the Fujimi Academy team..."
"Yeah, I guess so..."
Then Akira felt something small and furry rubbing against her ankles. She looked down to see it was the white cat that had been prowling around Minako moments before. Inwardly, she was relieved it wasn't Negi-sensei's pet ermine again. That animal had something that made her feel uneasy.
"Oh, that's Artemis-kun, my pet. You'll have to excuse him, he's... a bit of a troublemaker," Minako said. "He can't see a pretty girl without going right after her..."
"It's okay. I understand," Akira smiled kindly, picking the small feline up. She was no Chachamaru, but she still was never one to waste the chance to pet a kitten. "He's a very cute kitty..."
The cat looked exactly at her eyes, with almost human precision, as if measuring the sincerity of her words and feelings. It made her nervous for a moment, but she told herself it was a silly thing to feel as she put him back down.
She also vaguely wondered what was the deal with that half moon sign on his forehead. Some owners just marked their poor animals with the dumbest looking things...
Edit: You know, this Spartacus thing just ain't funny. At all.

...Screw it
Spartacus lovingly caressed the forum's face as he took it from behind
Reaction Image RepositoryI really don't mind it all that much. As far as April Fools Day pranks go, it's fairly harmless, and I actually thought it was comparatively clever. YMMV, but at least there was a reason for it to be Spartacus, as opposed to those boards where they give everyone Justin Bieber avatars or some crap like that.
Anyway, to distract NDC from that, here's the next Nerima section:
“Hey, that game takes some serious brainpower! Especially if you want to exploit all the loopholes!”
“While I am forced to admit that it does, in fact, require a good deal of strategy it is hardly something that will be at all useful to you later in life.” Yuu sniffed.
“But it's fun.” Haru shrugged.
“What game are you talking about?” Nelly asked, eager to turn the conversation to something other than philosophy.
“Oh, it's this game where this demon princess takes a nap, and gets woken up two years later by her butler only to find that her mother the queen has died so she has to go and reclaim the Netherworld, because it's all gone to seed while she was napping. And then the Celestial realm sends an incompetent assassin after her, but he sucks at his job and ends up joining her team.”
“That sounds like a very....involved plot.”
“Of course! The script is actually really funny. It's one of the reasons I like the game so much.”
“But I thought that you liked it because of the catgirls...” Nobou mumbled. “..and because that one recurring boss woman was cute...”
“Shhhhh!” Haru clamped his hand over Nobou's mouth. “She wouldn't understand that.”
“I should have know that your obsession with that game would be entirely prurient in nature.” Yuu muttered.
“It's not entirely...whatever that word was!” Haru retorted. “That's only part of the appeal.”
“I suppose I have no choice but to take you at your word.” Yuu crushed the now empty juice box and tossed it at a nearby garbage can, missing completely.
“Mmmph!” Nobou finally managed to pry Haru's hand from his face. “Where did Nelly-sensei go?”
“Huh?” Haru glanced up to see Nelly being dragged away by the twins. “Should've known that was gonna happen.”
They're talking about Disgaea, of course, which came out a few months before the storyline started.

Laharl as a female demon princess...cute. Etna as a male demon vassal. *imagines him in her Stripperiffic outfit* BLARGH!

That's why I called him a butler.
Standard butler garb is easier on the eyes than...whatever it is that Etna wears.

I know, I know. For some reason, I have a bit of a soft spot for Gadget alone, even though I haven't (re)watched any episode of the Rescue Rangers show for years. Perhaps it's because she's a lot more humanoid-looking than the others; she seems more like a mouse-like smurf-sized human than a human-like mouse to me - or to put in another way, to me she reads more along the lines of "70% human, 30% mouse".
And of course, at some point I wondered "What if Hakase had Gadget Hackwrench as a 'lab animal'/'pet'? A Gadgeteer Genius human with a Gadgeteer Genius mouse as her 'lab animal'/'pet'? AWESOME!", and then... well, I think you can see where it went from here.
