@IANCE: I think we can just agree to disagree on fire.
Negi won't become the load. You forget that magic has nothing to do with his other strengths: cuteness, magical analytical ability, determination, ect. Negi is more than Goku, who couldn't pass an Grade 1entrance exam if the plot depended on it. Lucky for him, it never did.
Trust me, we'll get more drama out of him trying not to go berserk. And if he arrives in Equestria berserker, it gives the princesses legitimate reason to think he's a threat and lock him up with the others.

I know Negi's Badass by analysis status...
But sometimes, being able to split yourself into 1000 clones to curbstomp a hoard of encroaching Zerg throwbacks is too good to pass up.
Alright, class is starting, I'll be back later
You know you want to add loveProblem is that if he runs out in the middle of a fight, when he's actually FAR more prone to run out of magic, he will be reduced to a ten years old boy. You understand that by then, he can easily be one-shotted by almost every villain they'll come across.
If you keep him outside of battle, he'll be far more useful.

Which makes him a Boring Invincible Hero if it doesn't have a heavy price tag attached to it. Soon it's resurrections and Super Saiyan level 3…

Pretty much, yeah.
You know, that's why SSJ 3 is actually decent. Sure, it makes Goku much stronger than pretty much anyone else in the universe, matched only by fusions and Mystic Gohan. But if he's alive, it'll last, at best, a couple minutes before Goku becomes completely exhausted, even if he's trying to gather energy.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariRemember that Equestria is a World of Badass. The butterflies have Super-Strength and mind control!
Twilight is one of the physically weakest characters and she can lift multiple tons!
This isn't enough to be a problem for the more powerul characters, but they're likely going to be surprised.

And yet, no one ever managed to kill him when it wore off…
It's not that the butterflies have super strength, it's that the pegasi are magically super light.
Unless, of course, we play the World of Badass thing totally straight...

Not for lack of trying, mind you. Even in base state and with his power suppresed (to 5000, he apparently can't go lower than a thousand times as strong as your average grown man), Goku can be used as a wrecking ball to destroy planets. And when his SSJ 3 status runs out, he disengages combat or he was already out of it. Vegeta takes a shitton of damage because SSJ 3 exhausted Goku.
The thing is, Negi does not have the physiology of a Saiyan, he does not have bulletproof skin and physical strength to make the gods jealous. Without his magic, he is a normal ten years old boy.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariLet me point you to the post in which I wrote that he'd be far more useful outside of the fights.
Here
. Thing is, unlike Yuuno, he'll have to stay the hell away from the battlefield.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariPsh, yeah, right. It's Negi. Unless there is something more important for him to focus on, he's totally going to give it his all. And for him, that means running himself into the ground.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariI was replying to SCM. Yeah, Negi as an analogue to Batman might work.
Besides, plenty of drama potential to be taken from the fact he could be curbstomping Azula and Voldemort from the word Go and give Gilgamesh a very hard time, but he can't because he has little to no magic to run on. And him going Demon provides a very good reason for everyone else to mistrust him. There's no teliing when he may turn into a raging monstrosity hell bent on defeating, killing and eating everyone that is not his students.
He could be making the whole thing a million times easier, but the way his powers work makes it impossible, and he knows that.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariWhy not both? Demonform provides greatly increased physical abilities and the mindset required by Negi to actually use his brain to think strategically during a fight (That being: I'll kill you as fast as I can and then I'll eat you!), but it also prevents him from distinguishing between friend and foe. And it's scary as f*ck.
Having little magic, or having all of it but very slow regeneration, makes it so that he can't just simply curbstomp doods.

It's only demon-based when he's using ME. And it being the All Encompassing Darkness means it shouldn't be a problem. let's just make this before ME loses it's status as a deadly upgrade. He gets plucked the day after his fight with Rakan, RIGHT after he frees Ako.
