Okay, extreme summary here as I will post something apart from the flashbacks.
In light of Nodoka getting abducted (chapter 4-5), a "rescue team" was sent to where she was in order to bring her back (chapter 38). The rescue team consists of the following:
- Fate Averruncus (Force Commander)
- Yue (Second in command, on paper)
- Haruna (Ship pilot)
- Dynamis (Fate's actual Dragon)
- Asuna (Lieutenant, main field agent)
- Konoka (Medical ensign)
- Setsuna (Medical ensign's bodyguard - ...what?)
- Chizuru (Apprentice, 1st mission)
- Akira (Private, 1st mission on paper, current bodyguard to Chizuru)
- Emily Sevensheep (Lieutenant, commanding officer of the Valkyrie squad)
- Collet Farandole (Corporal, secondary mechanic)
- Beatrix Monroe (Sergeant)
- Von Chat (Valkyrie squad member)
- Du Katz (Valkyrie squad member)
- Andreas Stonegarden (OC, primary mechanic, "and would like to stay in engineering, thank you")
They ride aboard a new GPS (mark 2) built in the Old World and equipped with the latest military and stealth upgrades.
Summary so far: Asuna had joined in a raid against Illithids alongside a Githyanki warband (chapter 40) and fought against several of the brain-eaters. It ended up with her becoming stranded on a separate dimension of the world Nodoka was on. Her mission: Find out just what (Expletive Deleted) went wrong with the place. She is dressed in 40k Battle Sister grade power armor and equipped with a shotgun for large crowds.
Her team consists of:
- Saber: Not the Nasuverse Saber, though it should be admitted that the Githyanki found the Holy Grail Wars, studied the Servants and replicated the Servant system for their own use. Did not go as planned since the Servants became unique, whereas they had hoped for mass production. This Saber is the incarnation of the Githyanki's greatest hero (no name given) and accompanied Asuna on the Illithid raid. She is equipped with a Silver Sword (Serious Business for the Gith) and wear half-plate armor.
- Shakuras: A recently nicknamed Protoss Zealot, who also joined in the raid, he is surprisingly the weakest of the party. Needless to say, he is skilled with psionic powers and comes fully equipped with standard Zealot armor and Psion blades and force shields.
- Minsc: The legendary Rashemen warrior has returned! Hamsters and Rangers everywhere, rejoice! (Squeak!) This great warrior has grown old in his age but can still put up a fight. Having vanquised a Balor by himself, he is ready to smite evil wherever it shows its ugly mush. Oh, and he has Boo with him. (Squeak!)
- Aerie: Minsc's witch, still. Aerie has moved on to become a powerful archmage in her own right, and thus was sought out for this very reason. She holds immense power in her hands and she has many a magical item in her robes to aid her in battle.
- Deadpool. 'Nuff said, 'cept that he annoys Asuna to almost no end. He is still preferable to the Tyranid hordes they have faced.
Now onto the snippet that has been written.
The group of six were practically storming the fortress of whatever dark power lay here. The demons were gone, now came the tyranids and the undead raining down upon them. Hordes of the buggers were everywhere they looked and only one of them had the time of their lives. Three guesses which one. And the first two are automatically wrong.
The two party leaders, Asuna and Saber, led the assault in pretty much a brave manner, both in their separate way. Saber led with her own sword, cutting down enemies and also using her own telekinesis to blow large groups away. Asuna, since her Hama no Tsurugi was not enough here, used her shotgun from the GPS mark II to blow away her targets and she wasn't about to run out of ammunition anytime soon. Whatever the hell that Gestr guy did to her shotgun did wonders.
While not having a “boomstick,” Minsc was proving himself to be the warrior he so often bragged about and he somehow had the biggest killscore of the lot. His sword Larry, when not trying to charm Asuna's sword, was the warrior's best friend on the battlefield. Boo was also aiding by pretending that he was in danger and only Minsc could save him. Boy were the fiends in for a surprise when it came to the love the giant had for his miniature giant space hamster.
Aerie, their wizard, had sadly run out of spells and relied heavily on wands, charms, scepters and whatever weapon training she had to stay alive. Her mace was also a contributor. Minsc kept her safe alongside Shakuras the Protoss who held up psychokinetic barriers to keep the fiends at bay from her, but the elven archmage was holding herself up with them.
And as always, Deadpool always found some way to annoy the enemy. How the merc with a mouth pulled that off was a mystery in itself.
“It is no secret at all, good readers!” Deadpool told the empty air again. “Let me tell you how I-” he was interrupted (mercifully, thought Asuna) by a Tyranid Warrior trying to slice him in half. “INTERRUPTING PEOPLE ISN'T VERY NICE!” He yelled as he returned the favor.
“Why did Rufus hire this guy!?” Asuna cried out while blasting a handful of skeletons of what she believed to be gith once. “Any other group I'd be comfortable with, but him?!”
“The results speak for themselves, Asuna,” Saber replied over on her side of the assault. “He is practically immortal and manpower is a scarce resource we have.”
“I know, we're using all of it!”
“Plus, the author seems to be getting the hang of writing me!” Deadpool cried while using his guns. “Heck, I might even ask for permanent presence in this fic!”
“NO!” Asuna protested. “You are not getting into this fic, or whatever the hell is going on in your head! I'll file complaints until the author complies!”
“Aw, come on, Asuna. Don't you like me?”
““Like you?” I've been trying to kill you fifteen times since we got here!” She confessed. “Back at the library, the cavern, that canyon gorge...”
“Really?”
“Weren't the slugs I fired at you directly a hint?”
“Oh yeah,” He remembered while carving up zombies.
“How the hell does he change weapons so fast?” Saber just had to ask that one. She was stuck with just one weapon, psionics not counting.
“Ah, it's because the author allows it to happen. It's part of me being so awesome as a Memetic Badass-”
“A what?” Shakuras was genuinely confused by that.
“-and the fact that other authors out there are using me as well, that he decided to-” Then a big stone landed on his head and he fell down unconscious. “Ow.” Well, almost unconscious.
The tyranids seized this opportunity to rush down his angle. Feeling guilty, Asuna rushed over there and rammed her fist into the first one to come up.
There were a total of thirty in this group. Asuna had done that number before, but these weren't summons, so her artifact wasn't much use here, other than a big meat cleaver. The nids rushed at her, seeing her as the more important target, but the redhead was more than capable. Truth was, she could scarcely remember all her martial arts lessons but her body did. She crushed one skull between her kneecap and elbow, followed by being tackled by a nid trying to eat her face, only to be thrown into the ceiling and crack its back against a wedge. The third and fourth tried the same flank, but Asuna had a shotgun and she used it. The spray was enough to take those both out as the body liquids poured out.
Then a fifth set its long talon right through her armor in the back.
Asuna swung around, snapping off the talon and then broke its neck with a punch. Even though she was bleeding real bad, she was still in the fight, thanks in a major part to the ankh amulet she wore around her neck under the armor collar. If that was to come loose, no doubt she'd be dead three times over by now.
Then a large explosion happened thanks to a fireball and the rest of the bugs were taken out. Asuna was taken by the shockwave and the outer skirts of the blast, flying back and landing hard on the stone floor.
“Are you alright, Asuna?” Aerie asked her. Asuna could barely laugh due to loss of blood.
“Hurts when I speak,” she first said after a while between coughs of pain. “and breathe.”
“I'll heal you up.”
“Weren't you out of spells?” Asuna asked the elf.
“Out of battle spells, my friend,” Aerie corrected. “My wands serve me well so far, but I always hold the most vital healing spells back until they are needed.”
“Good,” Asuna coughed out of herself and lay there while the other three fighters kept up the battle around them.
Any questions?

@Kurush: Im aware that Silver Swords are Serious Business. They're also at their most useful on the Astral Plane. Does this mean that we'll be seeing some Astral travel?

@Kurush: What. I think you've lost me on the force organization.

Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein. For the record, the Hama No Tsurugi is a better crowd control weapon than a firearm if you're not worried about killing everything in your path. The reason is simple.
You need to aim the shotgun and the spread is not enough to hit more than two or tree targets at once. Not to mention, the kickback will knock down one, maybe two, but the rest will still be able to rush.
Normally, a sword as huge as the Hama No Tsurugi wouldn't be useful, being far too large and heavy to slash fast enough. However, it's reach and weight allows for wide slashes that will cut through enemy files like paper. Given Asuna's superb strength and agility with the use of Kanka, along with her skill wielding it, she should have a much easier time using that for crowd control than a shotgun.
HOWEVER, I haven't read your fic, and therefore, this applies to canon Asuna's abilities. Maybe that Asuna just plain can't wield the Hama No Tsurugi worth a crap.
Just picked up High School Dx D. The scene in the morning when Issei's mother catches him with Rias in bed is hilarious. Also, Matsuda and Motohama kinda remind me of every group of Those Two Guys that actually works and is funny. Like Sakuragi's group (except for Yohei).

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariAnyone knows whatever happened to dRoy?
Also, not that I have to deal with it since I didn't have Asuna in the fight with Eva, but now I wonder, why Eva had no idea why Asuna could break through her barrier back then, if later chapters showed she was quite familiar with Ala Rubra's background? Refresh my memory, was that ever explained?
Isn't damn near everything about Asuna kept a very tight secret? Besides, even if it wasn't, there was no certainty that it was the same Asuna...
I assume Roy found out being a Kendoka takes more time than he expected and he is in the process of learning how to kick ass with a bokken. Therefore he has no time for us people who kick ass with words.

My guess, based on the way that she acted during the Tournament, is that she didn't know as much as she thought she did until then, when Albireo enlightened her. She starts acting very differently towards Asuna after the festival, after all. (The whole 'why didn't you just take the peaceful life I was trying to stick you with?' bit.)
It's not the same name. It's Asuna Theotanasia Vesperina Entheophysia vs Asuna Kagurazaka.
Granted, if she ever got a look at her, she should recognize her almost instantly, but I'm assuming that their secrecy about her covered that part.
I love Freed as a villain. He's nuttier than squirrel poop!

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari(comes out of lurking) High guys. (goes back to play Warrior Orochi 3 and Tales of Graces)
Also, I might write a fanfiction that I've been having on my mind for a while now. It's not Negima based though but I'll still post a link IF I ever get around to write it.
Yes I have, I just haven't reviewed it yet. My internet has been wonky so I couldn't review it yet.
If you still don't believe me. Chapter 19 in a nutshell Negi and Nanoha end up on the Asura and Negi asks Nanoha to befriend her.

Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2

“Hi Kazumi. Hi Sayo.” Anya replied.
“We heard about your deal with Chao-san.” said Sayo.
“You did!?” asked Anya as her eyes widened.
“Our artifacts and contact network make these things easy to find out.” explained Sayo. “Besides, it’s not a secret from your partners is it? Most of them already know.”
“I suppose.” replied Anya. “Setsuna doesn’t trust Chao though. You didn’t find evidence that she’s doing anything bad did you?”
“She’s a pretty private person.” replied Kazumi. “But we knew that already and the same could be said about Tatsumiya-san who has helped us more than once. I don’t think that she’s a bad person.”
“Then I’ll stick with my decision to trust her.” Anya frowned. “And I guess that that means that I should help Asuna train, as she asked then.”
“Well, you could get Kagurazaka-san’s help at The World Tree.” suggested Kazumi with a shrug.
“You know about that?” asked Anya with a raised eyebrow.
“Of course.” Kazumi grinned.
“It’s not a bad idea though.” Anya said as she touched her chin “In fact, I may as well recruit Fei and Kaede as well. They’ve agreed to help as well and have some experience with this. They’ll make up their missed activities when we repeat today.”
