[up]Yeah. I remember a comment someone made about a fic written using the character's Abridged Series personalities. Not exactly the same, but fun to use nonetheless.

^^It's going to take me some time getting used to your writting style SCM, but other than that, great start. By the way, who ever is an artist in this thread, can I request a drawing of Negi's desendents based off of this fic?

...Oh my god, SCM. I was having trouble enough keeping it together before Amaterasu showed up and tripped off a lamppost. Let's see... the Russian boy is obviously Anya's son, and the dark-skinned redhead has to be Kaede's daughter. Sundress girl is... maybe Chizuru's daughter...?

I second the request for fanart. We're gonna need it to keep track of another 31+ characters.

It's been fun.

If that's who I think it is... Then technically, what he wears is full evening wear, not a tuxedo. It's a popular misconception.

Yeah, but without using the 'tuxedo' word, the reference wouldn't have worked very well.

Please tell me a cane-sword will be involved at some point?

We'll see.

I can tell there's going to be a spade-sword at some point in the future.

Great work on the fic, by the way.

[up][up]Oh duh I'm an idiot. Of course she' Mana's daughter. I really need to wake all the way up in the morning before posting here.

For some reason I find it hilarious to think that some of the children are nothing like their parents. Like Nodoka' daughter would be really boisterous, and Haruna's daughter would be really really proper and well behaved all the time.

The Importance of Being Chamo-kun, Part Ten

Hiraga Saito

"You must be joking," Asuna's voice came out in a throaty growl as she looked at the boy before them.

"I... don't think so, Asuna-san," Next to her, Negi was looking at the boy with a more even mixture of disbelief and sympathy. "I can feel he's being dead serious..."

"I am!" the older boy passionately claimed. "Please, I beg you, just give me a chance! I have lots of experience dealing with magic and helping mages! I'll do anything you want! I only want something to give a new meaning to my life! Since I lost Louise, I've wandered around lost and broken!"

"Yeah, well, sorry, but we only take animals for this kind of job," Asuna dryly insisted.

"But I'm a dog! Louise said it all the time!" Saito fell down to his hands and knees and starting crawling all across the floor. "See? I'm a dirty idiotic but loyal dog! Woof! Woof!"

"My God, you're pathetic!" the girl slammed the palm of her right hand on her face.

"Yeah. That's what Louise used to say, too..." the young man lowered his head sadly.

"Listen, it's just wrong. We can't do it," she said. "It's bad enough we have to share our room with a boy; adding another one, and this one well past puberty, is just—"

"Oh, you don't need to fear!" he quickly replied. "Louise kicked my crotch so many times I've been declared officially—"

"TOO MUCH INFORMATION!" Negi and Asuna chorused.

"Sorry..." he sighed. "But you won't regret having me around! I'll clean your apartment! Wash your panties! Kill your local dragons! Please! I don't have... anywhere else to go...!"

He started to cry several streams of Pure Manly Tears.

Negi blinked several times, then turned a pleading glare up towards Asuna.

His roommate grumbled while massaging her temples. "I know I'm going to regret this...!!"

However, much to her surprise, she had been wrong about it. Saito had proved to be a rather decent asset to their lives. He was polite and humble, as well as useful in fights, and despite having a worrying tendence to accidentally stumble into the breasts of Chizuru, Kaede, Mana and Kazumi, he didn't feel like a load. True, the fact he had started to caught the attention of a few of the students had introduced Negi to the strange and mysterious world of jealousy, a world he never even knew existed before, but all in all, Asuna felt rather happy of counting him as her friend.

However, Saito still wasn't happy.

One night, he told them, "I want to leave."

Asuna was shocked. "You'll leave us? But why?! Don't you like being here? Have we treated you badly? I thought we were getting along very well!"

"It isn't that..." Saito sulked with embarrassment. "You two and Konoka-san have been excellent with me. You're the best friends I ever had. It's just... I lack something. You are so good with me... It's exactly that what stresses me! I miss life with Louise! I miss being put down, insulted and opressed! I can't get that here! Even Evangeline-sama will only sneer at me! I need to look for my own path in life. One where I can, hopefully, duplicate the happiness of those days. Sorry."

"Ahhh...?????" Asuna's eyes had become tiny points.

Negi, however, smirked, his hair falling over his forehead obscuring his face. He chuckled in a rather unsettling fashion before saying,

"I see... So, Saito-kun... If I give you a clue of where to find such a life, would you go there and leave Mahora...?"

"Of course I'd do it!" the taller boy perked up. "Sensei! Would you do that for me?"

"Yes" Negi nodded. "Yes, for you, I would..."

One month later, at London.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" Anya Cocolova was rubbing her wet red hair with a towel, stepping out of the shower wearing only a pink bathrobe and bunny slippers. "Sheesh, this better be good! These aren't hours to visit!"

She pulled the front door open, scowling at the visitor. "Yes? Who are you?"

The black haired boy wearing jeans and a blue and white sweater smiled at her. "Hello! My name is Saito. I'd like to know you better."

Then he accidentally stumbled ahead and fell on top of her.

Motsu and Shichimi

"I'm sorry," Akamatsu-sensei shook his head sparsely.

"What do you mean with 'I'm sorry'?" the frog-like thing asked.

"I don't mean to offend, but I don't believe you are what we are looking for in our franchise's pet," the mangaka politely said. "I'm sure you two have talent, but I don't think it leans in the direction we are aiming for. My apologies. If you want, I can arrange an appointment with Kumeta-sensei for you."

"SHOCK!!!" Motsu screamed in exaggerated Engrish. "We've been insulted!! You'll hear from our lawyers! You have just discriminated us! You said our talent wasn't good enough for you!"

"Let it go, mya!" the cute fluffy kitty thingy next to him waved its tail around. "I'm sure he has his reasons, mya..."

Motsu shook a scrawny fist around. "This won't end here, Akamatsu Ken! In the end, we'll star in this show, one way or another! You haven't heard the last of us! Someday, we'll steal the spotlight away from whoever you choose for this paltry job, and then we'll see who has the last laugh! In a good way!"

Assistant Amagasaki Chigusa cringed as the sound of the door being slammed shook the whole room, then turned her head towards Akamatsu. "Do you think he has the connections to make good on that threat?"

He laughed it off. "Don't be silly. Who would ever think putting them in a show could be a good idea?"

Hobbes

"And then Hobbes will finish drawing the Pactio circle, we'll kiss in the, um, mouth, and you'll be granted fantastic magical powers," Negi uneasily said. "I know it's, ahhh, very awkward, but I'm afraid it's the only way we have to beat Evangeline-san..."

Asuna fixed a stunned glare on him, then looked at the still, completely silent stuffed tiger sitting at his right.

She slapped Negi and turned around, stomping away while huffing angrily.

Negi whimpered in pain and looked aside at Hobbes. "Why won't you ever talk to them...?"

The tiger shrugged his shoulders. "For some reason I always get stage fright at the last moment. Why don't we try with Nodoka again? Maybe she won't faint this time."

Oh, fair point. I just thought she was being rather polite in terms of speech... but yeah, she probably is Mana's. =)

Her politeness would be a combination of her father's own well-mannered nature and her mother's emotional reservedness rubbing off on her.

@megadark: I'm an artist myself, but unfortunately have no time. Still, I'll try to be as descriptive as possible without going into purple prose to help any such attempt.

And now, SCM calls for aid. I need children's names that are thematically similar enough to their parents to help identify. I've already picked out the names of Chachamaru, and Mana's kids, but the others elude me, though I'm thinking of making a gag about how a LOT of the girl children end up named 'Arika'. As a priority, I need names for the kids of Setsuna (female), Konoka (any), Asuna (any) and possibly Arika (female, and yes, I'm going there).

^ I'd really appreciate if Chisame's child would be called Nanami if it's a girl, and Kyosuke if it's a boy. Those are the names I picked for her children in the Konoka segment of More than Fifty Four... waii

As a matter of fact, I actually picked 'Nanami' since it resembles a subtle, not blatant, combination of 'Negi' and 'Chisame'. That, and I'm an El Hazard fan.

Here's the 2nd half of the Chisame/Setsuna section. This is going to be one hell of a Mood Whiplash coming after the Hakase thing.

Chisame felt the blood drain from her face. If there was one constant in the chaotic hodgepodge that was her life, it was that Konoka and Setsuna were together. Best friends. If something had happened to that...

“What happened!? Is she alright!?”

“She's...she's fine...” Setsuna hung her head and gazed blankly into the sunset's reflection off of the lake.

“W..what do you mean?” Chisame could feel her own voice wavering a little. Setsuna looked back at her.

“Promise not to tell anyone?”

“Of course. You know I can keep a secret.”

Setsuna turned back to face the water before answering, as if it were easier to pretend that she wasn't talking to anyone.

“Well....I....I did something really stupid....” She rested her chin on her knees and took a deep breath. “It's just that me and Konoka had been friends for so long, and we getting so close, and we had been through so much together. I wanted to...I mean...I thought that...” She bit her lip for a moment as she tried to force the words out. “I thought that we could be more....than just friend....that we...that we could be lovers... So I worked up the courage, and I finally got up the nerve to tell Konoka how I felt....what I wanted to do....”

There was a moment of silence before Chisame spoke up. This was delicate ground, and she wasn't very good at being tactful. But she made her best attempt.

“You mean that...” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “..you asked her to...uh...do that?”

Setsuna nodded slowly, still staring into the water.

“And she...turned you down?”

“No.” She buried her face in her knees once again. Chisame could barely make out her muffled voice. “It would have been better if she had.” She inhaled slowly. “We...we tried to do it right. We went out to a nice dinner, had rose petals scattered around the bed, candles, everything. But...but she...” Setsuna choked on her words.

“Here.” Chisame held out a water bottle. The demon girl uncurled slightly as she accepted the drink. “What happened?”

Setsuna untwisted herself further, putting her feet back on the ground. She clenched her fists to keep her hands from trembling.

“We...we went back to the room, and we got into bed and Konoka....she” Chisame could see wetness beginning to leak out of Setsuna's tightly closed eyes. “She hated it. I could tell. She tried her best enjoy it, to look like she wanted it... She smiled, moaned, called my name... But when I looked in her eyes...” Tears began to trickle down her cheeks. “She didn't want to be there. She didn't want to be in bed with me....she...she already had everything she ever wanted from me. But..but I couldn't see that.”

She rested her elbows on her knees and pressed her face into her hands. Her whole body shook as she struggled to breathe evenly.

“She didn't want to admit it to me...I had to drag it out of her. She never wanted a lover...just a best friend...”

Chisame edged cautiously towards Setsuna, reaching out slowly to place a hand on the girl's shoulder. She was at a loss. It was if someone had just pulled a rug out from under her. But she knew that her mild uneasiness couldn't even be compared to whatever tangle of feelings Setsuna had in her head. She could think of only one thing to say.

“Well...don't you still have her as a friend?” She tried to smile, but it undoubtedly looked fake. It didn't matter; Setsuna wasn't looking at her anyway.

“I...I don't know.” Setsuna pushed her voice out of her mouth through gritted teeth. “That's the worst part. Maybe....I ruined it...everything. I...I spent so long...wishing I could be her friend..but now...but now that I finally had it...I ruined it.”

Her whole body began to tremble as she began to spit out the words. “Now when she sees me, she won't see her best friend anymore. She'll see that night. She'll see me doing things to her that she never wanted to experience. She'll remember a night that she should have shared with someone else..someone she wanted... Her first...my first...they..they're gone because I...because...I....”

Setsuna's voice died away as her body was wracked with sobs. Chisame felt like she was frozen. She could think of nothing to say. And only one thing that she could do. She leaned closer and wrapped her arm around to the sobbing girl. Setsuna slowly rocked forward and buried her face against Chisame, convulsing as she wept into the orange-haired girl's shirt.

Chisame didn't know exactly how long she sat there, listening to Setsuna's muffled cries. The sun had almost disappeared beneath the horizon when Setsuna was finally still. She patted the girl on the back.

“Are you alright?”

Setsuna sluggishly pushed herself upright. She sniffed loudly and wiped her face with her arm.

“Yeah...I guess...” She looked down at Chisame's shirt, now damp with tears. “I'm sorry...I didn't mean to...to unload on you like that...”

“It's alright.” She tried to smile again. This time it was genuine. “Sometimes you just need to cry, you know? Just get it out.” She paused for a moment as she heard a subtle rumbling sound. “Was that your stomach.” Setsuna nodded sheepishly.

“I haven't felt like eating since...you know...”

“I understand.” Chisame stretched hear arms above her head. “When did it happen?”

“Last night.”

“You haven't eaten since yesterday?” Chisame reached into her bag and rummaged around for a few seconds before retrieving her bagel. “You need this more than I do.” She pressed it into Setsuna's hand. “That's probably not enough.” She looked thoughtfully into the darkening sky as Setsuna began munching. “You want to go get cheeseburgers or something? Just hang out for a little while?”

“Yes.” Setsuna nodded and for the first time that day, smiled a little. “I'd like that.”

“Come on.” Chisame stood up. “I know a good place that isn't too far from here.”

Setsuna slowly rose to her feet and began to gingerly walk alongside Chisame. She turned to face the other girl.

“Um..Chisame...”

“Yeah?”

“Thank you.”

“Think nothing of it.” Chisame threw the strap of her bag over he shoulder. “Listen, if you ever need to talk, you know where to find me.”

Chisame smiled as she walked alongside Setsuna down the lakeside path. Maybe she had found someone she could share her bench with.

Any corrections that need to be made before I upload this section?

Yeah, now I read the piece as well, I loved it, too. Very touching.

Today's (very short) Unequally update actually had no Negima characters on it (other than a brief mention of Konoka), so I'll be skipping it over unless anyone wants to see it before it's posted on FF.Net.

EDIT: The Importance of Being Chamo, Part 2, is up. Although, other than a very brief cliched prologue, and an extra line or two here and there, it's got nothing we haven't seen already here.

[up][up]I would dearly like to see Chisame/Paio Zi, Chisame/Theodora, Chisame/Dodgeball Team, Chisame/Cocone, Chisame/Amagasaki Chigusa, Chisame/The Cute Referee Girl From The Magical World Gladiator Tournaments, Chisame/Seras, and Chisame/Ariadne Harem (with bonus Yue included).

Remember, I'm not just about Crack, I also patronize underused Negima pairings.

If I could suggest more failed Chamos...

  • Pepe Le Pew.
  • Chucky! Now Chachazero has a PROPER love interest!
  • Shippo.

  • Godzilla.
  • Yuuno Scrya  *.
  • Arf.
  • Illya. Or maybe Chibi!SmokingRin from the Tiger Dojo.
  • Yoda.
  • Barney Stinson.
  • Cthulthu.
  • Mokona.

Do you think I'd get thrown out if I put myself in the TvTropes Pantheon?

Ahh, to dream...

Anyway, from the second chapter of 'Descendants of Negi':

Ku turned to stare at Negi. “Sensei bang four-eyed pervy slicey glasses girl?”

“Don’t you dare talk about my mother that way!” Amaterasu cried. She was hurriedly stuffing her nose with tissues to stem the bleeding. “My mother is a wonderful person who just happens to like killing people and is sexually excited by murder! We all have our little problems!”

They all gave her a blank stare.

She kept on glaring. “She’s the greatest mother ever!”

Asuna sighed. “Yup, this is definitely your kid, Negi.”

The others nodded sagely in agreement, except Setsuna, who was still twitchy at all the things Amaterasu had just revealed, the least of which was that Tsukuyomi had somehow managed to reproduce.

“EH?!” Negi exclaimed. “How do you all say that?”

The girls all exchanged a look, wondering how they could possibly put into words the sentiment that only he could be able to breed such a hopelessly optimistic kid with a total nut like Tsukuyomi.

“Only you would be able to breed such a hopelessly optimistic kid with a total nut like Tsukuyomi,” Chisame said, summing it up perfectly.

“My mother is not a total nut!” Amaterasu protested, gasping. “She is a kind and loving human being!”

At this point, she realized she had stuffed so many tissues into her nose she could no longer breathe, and started pulling some out, gasping.
