I would say that Torg is in denial, but knowing Abrams, he's gonna be right.

Things are starting to get interesting again.

Now THIS makes me feel a bit warmer and fuzzier.

Hopefully, whatever dimension Riff and Zoe end up in, it's got some sentient cream pies with great comic timing. Those would make some nice salve for their burns.

... speaking of which, now that the Dimensional Flux Agitator's back in play, what ever happened to Roberts and the sentient banana cream pie? They haven't been in any of the Hereti Corp scenes so far this arc.

Probably they're too comedic for the current arc. This arc has been mostly dark.

That, or the cream pie sacrificed itself to smack Roberts in the face, who choked on a piece of crust.

No more comedical than Frog and Corsica.

I think a talking, floating cream pie is more comedic than a talking frog who is also an abuser and fairly evil. YMMV, I suppose.

Y'know, I've got the feeling we're in store for a Time Skip soon. Afterall, Pete usually likes to keep it so that, for every year that goes by in real life, a year goes by in the Sluggy universe (though whether the characters actually age with the passing years is a little less clear). Everything that's happened since Schlock's New Year's party couldn't have taken more than a few weeks. Heck, everything that's happened since late April has all occurred during a single day. So I figure we're looking at a decent sized Time Skip up ahead to catch things up.

While that makes logical sense, I am hoping that does not happen so we can see how Trog, Gwyn, and the rest handle the aftermath of these events.

Wasn't Schlock's New Year's Party part of a flashback?

It was the framing device for a flashback.

And if nothing else, there was still snow on the ground when Oasis killed all those Hereti Corp agents. Given that they're in the continental United States, unless Oasis was camping on top of a mountain or something, that couldn't have happened any later than early May.

I've just got a nagging feeling this plot will end with no resoulution and it will be another couple of years before it's revisited.

This plot dragged me back to the strip after about two years of giving up on it...but it's also reminding me *exactly* why I gave up on it. I just wanted to see through the Oasis arc. If it derails yet again for Torg Potter or whatever, I'll just take off again and this time wait for the internet to give me the pertinent details.

According to Abrams, after a brief break for filler so he can get caught up, he's coming back for "two weeks you won't want to miss." I'd hold judgment on whether anything will be resolved or not until after that. He is slowly winding down to an ending, so it's entirely possible that something major will be resolved during that time.

I hope so, but given how bRoken just maintained his extremely annoying tendency to draw out a week's worth of strips to drop one plot point, I'm skeptical that much of anything could happen in two weeks of strips the way he writes them now.

He didn't used to that. I still have my Fire and Rain hardcover and it's still amazing - the pacing is great, the story is dark, but everything works. It reminds of when Sluggy was a beautiful and tangled web of plots and characters that still made sense and resolved everything perfectly. Right around That Which Redeems was when I started finding it hard to read.

Maybe he's planning to end the whole strip soon... (I hope not)

But he does seem to be getting serious burnout, so you never know...

I've heard it mentioned before that because Pete's entire income from the strip is from the Defenders program, he can't really take a hiatus of any major length or he'll piss off his subscribers enough that they'll stop giving him the money to continue.

Which stinks, because I've felt that he burned out for some time and he really needs to just take six months off, get his real life in order, not think about the strip...then plan out what stories need to be finished and finish them. And I mean, really plan them - not just sketch a few plot points and try to make it up as he goes along.

If Sluggy Freelance were a TV show this strip would definitely have to have that song from The Breakfast Club playing over the last panel. You know the one.

"Don't you

"forget about me."

About a year ago, I believe, Abrams said he was ending the strip, but it would take about 5 years to wrap up. So I suppose we have about 4 years left to go.

Also, yay for my favorite character making a return! Woo! I was wondering when she'd be back. I hope she sticks around this time.

On a side note, I finally got an answer to my fanmail I sent a while back, and there will be an Ocean's Unmoving Part III but not for a couple years, and possibly will be the last Sluggy-related arc that he does. Good news if you liked the arc.

No, no, silly fool.

Everyone knows Sluggy won't be ending until the year 2024. Why is this so? Because in 1999 the info Berk brought back from the future said the world ended 25 years later. You callin' Berka liar?

I haven't read Sluggy for years, but as for Oceans Unmoving III, I say hell no. I liked the worldbuilding, but I couldn't care less about any of the original characters it introduced, and once Bun-bun got out of there, I lost all interest in the story.

Looks like Pete's put a Five-Man Band together. It's looking like Torg is The Hero, Bun-Bun's The Lancer, Sasha's The Smart Guy, Sam's The Big Guy, and Zombie-Head-On-A-Stick is The Chick.

...

Okay, is there a poll somwhere for weirdest Five Man Bands of all time?
