I'm not the only person who hears a bit of "Night on Bald Mountain" in "Stress", am I?
EDIT: Ha, the other wiki says that they did indeed sample it, specifically David Shire's "Night on Disco Mountain" arrangement. It was one of the only three samples that they actually credited.

Haha, there seems to be a general opinion that The Party should NOT have been included. And yes, that is perfectly understandable.
Speaking of samples, Justice claimed that large amounts of the album was made up of teeny tiny micro samples, with over 400 songs used in the making of the music. For example, Genesis uses the handclaps from 50 Cent's In Da Club. Not that you'd know if they didn't say so.
Speaking of unsampled songs, here's what they used in Stress:
Pretty Sneaky (Just)Sis!
Not many people realize, 50 Cent is half man, half cossack. - Ross NobleHas there ever been a good song named "The Party"? The only other "The Party" I can think of is the final track of Starflyer 59's Everybody Makes Mistakes, and it's the most boring song on the whole album.
Here's something strange. Are you already familiar with the Cave Story soundtrack? If not, you should probably give the original version of "Oppression"
a cursory listen.
Why did I make you listen to that? Because this mashup exists.
Just now found out about Justice's Planisphère EP, which they released for free
back in '08.
Downloading, will listen to tomorrow.
I heard this album back when it first came out and fucking hated it, but maybe my opinion's changed, who knows?
Anyway, for the upcoming round....I have no idea what I'm going to pick. Likely either Are You Gonna Eat That? by Hail Mary Mallon or one of my Flecktones albums.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineMine is Are You Experienced by David Lang.
I'll listen to this album soon.
Video Game Census. Please contribute.Mmm. Justice's ✝. I just fucking love it, really. It's meaty, ballsy, hooky and heavy as fuck, which is what electro house should be like. Aside from "The Party", obviously. No one likes that song, and if anyone does, them stupid dumb. (Here's what electro house shouldn't be like, for the record.
If you thought "The Party" had shit vocals, prepare to have your mind blown...)
I'll catch up with the five albums in my queue tomorrow and the day after tomorrow - I've finally moved and I only set up the PC yesterday. Not really looking forward to hearing Burial again...
Anyhow, Drpepperfan's incidental mention of microsampling is funny, because my next pick pretty much invented the technique (or at least catapulted it to public awareness) and flaunts it all over the damn place. In a good way. (Unlike Justice's album, which merely features it in an unrecognizable form here and there.) I've been listening to it quite a bit for the last two months and it's very fun. In fact, I'm supposed to familiarize myself with Drudkh's Forgotten Legends at the moment but keep playing it instead.
My next album is My Way by Akufen.

Anyhow. Justice's ✝.
I listened to this album after hearing about the microsampling thing, and it really wasn't what I was expecting.
I was expecting an experimental electronica album of sorts, due to the Akufen association.
What I got was 50 minutes of non-stop head-nodding
So yeah, great album. There's a bit of a lull between "Let There Be Light" and "Phantom Pt. I", but it picks right back up with "Phantom Pt. II" (DUUUUN-DUUUUN-DUUUUN-DUUUUN-DUUN-*PSHHHHHHH*)
"Valentine" is a bit slower than the others, but still pretty good.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Actually, I haven't. I just read that he invented microsampling.
You know, aside from Uffie being Uffie, "The Party" isn't that bad. But yeah, was too busy staring in horror at the... yeah

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Ooo, very happy to see you both really enjoyed it Wicked and Litis! :D Head-nodding is the correct response Wicked, it was almost like this thing was physically designed to knock your skull back and forth in perfect rhythm...and I love it.
Now as to what album to choose...Hmm. I see all these obscurish artists being chosen, and then I look at my shelf and realise my taste in music isn't that varied...I'll think about what to choose for a while.
Not many people realize, 50 Cent is half man, half cossack. - Ross NobleAs For Justice's Cross album, I'm kind of undecided on it. There were parts of almost all the songs I definitely liked. A lot of little interesting parts that took a little bit of time to realize they were there and a few parts got me bobbing my head. I'd probably enjoy this if I actually went to a club or dance hall, but as songs, I can't say it really captivated me. As, I said, there were interesting parts, but as a whole, I wasn't huge on it. Not to say it was bad, just I don't think this was my thing.
I didn't like any of the vocals on the tracks though. Took me out of the songs. And one of them just sounded like a kid was singing.

Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKI've got a few ideas for the next one but I'm mostly leaning towards the self-titled album by Deltron 3030. Honestly this is because Mega Ran very vaguely made me think of it. Other stuff I might nominate includes Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab and Book Of Horizons by Secret Chiefs 3.

Eh, I already have a Mediafire upload of this album ready, so I may as well choose it for the Album Exchange. I'm pretty sure my album for the next album is Hunky Dory by David Bowie. (I was gonna go for Born to Run, but I dunno, is that perhaps too obvious an album?)
Not many people realize, 50 Cent is half man, half cossack. - Ross Noble

Our page on the Loudness War says that of Justice that their sound "is defined by crushing their songs to a flat mush with compression." I can hear that.
I'm not exactly a fan of the effect, but it was apparently done quite deliberately and the instrumental tracks are otherwise quite great on first listen.
DMAN I hate "The Party" so much that I'm not even going to fix that misspelling.
