I cannot think of an album nearly as obscure as the ones you've got up there.

Plus I generally don't listen to music by the album anyway.

I'm convinced that our modern day analogues to ancient scholars are comedians. -0dd1

That's fine! But I wouldn't want you to think that obscurity is an issue. In fact I'm slightly concerned if that's how this thing appears, because my intentions were almost the complete opposite.

Anyway, better get listening to this myself!

You know, I find most rap and hip hop to be pretty terrible, but this... this is good. Really good.

Fun fact: "Coffee" has John Darnielle from The Mountain Goats on it, somewhere.

Agreeing with Zudak on this one, hugely enjoyable so far. But there is a real danger that this might come across as 'it's acceptable for a middle class white guy to like a white hip-hop artist' syndrome. So I guess I'll have to listen to more hip-hop cool.

I'm pretty sure not all the albums I post are going to be obscure. Some might just be to get discussion going.

(Also, I've always said my taste in music favors bands that are just south of mainstream - they're still quite popular, but not constant radio play.)

As for Grooveshark, right now my computer doesn't like it, so I'm staying away from it. May try again later.

Holyyyyy shite that lick in The Harbour Is Yours is funky as hell.

I'm actually massively enjoying this album. Despite obviously trying to wow me with his rhymes, which are undeniably impressive, I'm most impressed with the backing. The beats are awesome - it's dense, complex and there's a real sense of lurking menace looming out of the background. The licks kinda shine through the murky basslines like the headlights of a juggernaut. I have no idea if I'm making any sense.

Make sense to me Saeg.

None Shall Pass is also produced almost completely by Aes himself, El-P does I think one track, and Blockhead does two.

I wasn't trying to be obscure. I've been loving on this particular genre for a few years, and BVSC is probably the single most famous album in that genre.

...I can't help that the genre itself is obscure.

I didn't write any of that.

I'm very much interested in joining this thing, and will join in on the listenings with the next album.

My album suggestion is Gackt's latest, Re:Born.

Guitar Bizarre was forum-banned for misbehaving elsewhere. Are we going to keep his suggestion (the Venetian Snares album) on the list?
