I just bought a new computer, which turned out to suck, so I'm back to my five year old model that works much better. The time I've been off was when I was trying to get the new one to work (return). Anyways, random number generator says 2, which is cLOUDDEAD - cLOUDDEAD. Spain Sun, I choose you!

I'm still going to hold off on announcing my next album.

Just stopping by to say that I'm thinking about my next album recommendation and waiting for the link of the new pick.

Here you go.

It's important to note that there are doubles of some of the tracks, so just don't accidentally click on the same one twice. However for all of the tracks there is a part one and a part two. (eg. "Apt. A pt. 1", "Apt. A pt. 2")

Opinions on the album, folks?

Also, I have my round three album. This Strange Little Cricket by Various Artists on the Artifacts/Yclept Collective.

I've listened to cLOUDDEAD before. I don't like them just as much now as I did then.

Just not my thing.

Okay, I listened to the album, and it just seems incomplete or not thought out enough. They had some very interesting backgrounds and it's possible that they could have made an interesting rap album out of it, but the vocals did not fit the background music at all. It just sounded like they were doing random rapping over random backgrounds. Where's the synergy? Speaking of synergy, another problem I had with this album was their apparent ADD during the tracks. ADD style tracks can be interesting, but there needs to be an underlying structure to them. It sounded like each track was three or four separate songs, none of which was given enough time to come into its own. I could see no reason why they were grouped together. There was no continuity within the tracks, and that bugs the hell out of me. It might have been better if they just made a whole bunch of thirty second to a minute tracks like The Locust do sometimes. As it is, it sounds like they didn't know what they were doing with this album.

Also, they sing out of tune, which is one of my biggest pet peeves in music.

I like the schizophrenic feel of cLOUDDEAD's music. It's fascinatingly weird.

I only said synergy twice, fuckface. Schizophrenia's fine, but there needs to be some kind of flow. A feeling of heading to and coming from. I don't hear that from this album.

Edited because I forgot to give Zudak a cute little pet name.

Sorry, I hate that word.

And what you call a lack of flow is what I like about this album. I think it works in this context.

It would be a lot better if it were actively aiming to be disparate. It doesn't slam into a new style. It fades out and in constantly. It isn't a study in contrasts. It's just a long series of gaps.

It has a very stream-of-consciousness, free association kind of feel to it.

...eh, not trying to hate on your opinion or anything. Just trying to articulate why I like it.

That's fine, keep on explaining. That's part of the purpose of the thread in my mind.

Even when doing stream of consciousness, there needs to be some kind of connection, however tenuous. A little more attention to form would have gone a long way.

I dunno what more to say. I like it, and I don't understand why you don't. LOL PERSONAL TASTE and LOL SUBJECTIVITY apply here, I think. Music is like that a lot.
