While I haven't seen the revival/reboot yet, all the clips and discussions I've seen online are giving me an extremely positive impression of it overall. Looking forward to when it finally gets its official North American release.

Speaking of which, would it be worth the time to write descriptions for the new contestants, or is that better saved for when the season releases in North America? We already have a bunch of tropes describing them, so I think it would be appropriate to add them now. I have a pretty good sense of the characters already from all the clips I've seen and reading the tropes pages.

Pics and quotes, I think we can wait, especially since the main provider of those, the TD Wiki, doesn't have any atm.

How will the original cast appear considering that it's been 15 years? Will they have a case of Not Allowed to Grow Up or will they appear as adults?

Maybe they were frozen in stasis between Ridonculous Race and Island 2023 for over a decade.

Rock and Spud have a cameo and look the same. If the contestants won't get new models then i say don't bring them back at all. It'll be jarring.

Anyone finding the choice for Island 2023 taking place 15 years after season 1 to be a weird decision? I mean it just kinda restrains interactions between Gens 1-3 and 4 with a wide age gap between the two with the implication the ones from the first 5 seasons will be in their late 20s/early 30s by now. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be only a year or two after Pahkitew Island?

No, because the new season is explicitly based in 2020s culture and slang. It would be glaring for it to allegedly take place in the early 2010s.

Also there's no guarantee there will be cross-generarion interactions yet, but isn't the idea of seeing the older contestants interact with the new ones interesting? There's mentorship potential there.

I dont think they ever say what year it is in the earlier seasons, so if they had these seasons take place right after the original ones, that'd mean TDI took place in like 2018 or so, and that'd be weird.

I mean Ridonculous Race already had modern technology so it's not as though things are so advanced in Island 2023 compared to that show that it needed such a large time skip of 15 (or 12 since Ridonculous Race is 3 years after Island) years.

I always assumed the franchise took place more or less in realtime. World Tour at least starts a year after the events of Action as opposed to Action being two weeks after the original Island. I don't know the timeline for Revenge, All-Stars, and Pahkitew but if Ridonculous Race is 3 years after Island that'd put it in, what, 2010 assuming the series really did take place in realtime with Island and Action at least being in 2007. And if the new season is 15 years after Island specifically that'd put it in 2022. So slightly less realtime than previous seasons but it makes perfect sense for the new season to take place 15 years after the original since that's more or less how much time has passed in the real world and it does align with the idea of the seasons taking place in (roughly) realtime.

Didn't Ridonculous Race have a lot of new technology like smartphones though, which were more commo in 2015 so that would make Island closer to the 2010s than 2007?

I sorta saw the show's timeline as:

• June - July Year 1 is Island
• August - September Year 1 is Action (it was actually 2 days after the end of Island)
• February - April Year 2 is World Tour (since they're still 16, not 18)
• June Year 2 is Revenge of the Island (Gen 1 is 17, Gen 2 is 16)
• June Year 3 is All Stars (Gen 1 is 18, Gen 2 is 17)
• July Year 4 is Pahkitew Island
• Fall Year 4 is Ridonculous Race (Gen 1 is 19 according to Word of God and Gen 3 is still 16)

Is it me or does Chris act nicer in the 2023 season?

The iPhone was released in 2007. If we assume RR was 3-4 years after TD:I and the reboot is 15 years after TD:I and is set in 2022, TD:I would be 2007 and TD:RR at 2010-11, that puts RR 3 years after the introduction of the iPhone or 2 years after the 1st Samsung Galaxy. It's plausible at the time to have people with smartphones, especially since a lot of companies were also pushing cheaper smartphones on top of their flagship model.

The timeline would line up, as in TD:I and series closely related, Chris has a flip phone, and it wasn't until PI that Chris had a smartphone.

I’ve noticed it too. They’ve definitely toned his character down from when we last saw him; he feels more like how he was in the first 2 seasons - still an asshole, but not a total psycho. It seems like the writers wanted to address the common complaint of Chris becoming too nasty later on, and personally, I like it.

A bit funny though that the “I want to see people die” schtick is instead given to one of the contestants (Lauren/Scary Girl).

I think they hit a nice balance where he's sadistic, but more in line with his Island personality. I do think Chef was a bit overly nice sometimes, maybe cuz he's based off his Dramarama personality, but then sometimes he'd be just as happy to see the contestants suffer, so it felt slightly inconsistent.

It's fun to headcanon them having mellowed out since Pahkitew ended. Maybe Chef really did go and work at a daycare, lol.

What if Amy was an only child?

Her entire team liked her for some reason, so I could see her making merge. Probably goes out in Jasmine's spot in the actual show.

How would Alejandro interact with Amy and/or Sammy? Especially if it's about a certain topic.

I think that if they interacted, Sierra wouldn't be scared of Scary Girl considering that they're both...behave oddly by the show's standards so they might be fine with each other as long as Cody isn't involved.

Imagine if Izzy and Scary Girl interacted.

They might be friends or Izzy would find her off-putting because Izzy at least she doesn't try to intentionally murder everybody.
