Does it bug anyone else at the Titans and TITA Ns share the name?

I would've figured they'd renamed the moon Space Scandinavia or something to avoid after the fall.

Inhabitants of Titan are Titanians. And they aren't givin' up their name because some Earth machines are squatting it.

I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.

This is a pretty awesome crossover between Eclipse Phase and Mass Effect.

The culture clash is really fun to see. waii One universe is the classic No Transhumanism Allowed Space Opera, the other is about as radical as transhumanist sci-fi gets. The EP verse is not only in violation of pretty much all of the Council's laws on technology, from their perspective they're also bizarre and dangerous Starfish Aliens. They're horrified. [lol]

I don't think Eclipse Phase is that far out. Most of the tech is just the Logical Extreme

Was reading about honey badgers, because Cracked.com mentioned them being totally badass.

Honey badgers are intelligent animals and are one of a few species known to be capable of using tools. In the 1997 documentary series Land of the Tiger, a honey badger in India was filmed making use of a tool; the animal rolled a log and stood on it to reach a kingfisher fledgling stuck up in the roots coming from the ceiling in an underground cave. A video made at the Moholoholo rehab centre in South Africa showed a pair of honey badgers using sticks, a rake, heaps of mud and stones to escape from their walled pit.

Huh, sounds like they could be a good candidate for uplift.

And they'd be pretty useful as a morph:

As with other mustelids of relatively large size, such as wolverines and badgers, honey badgers are notorious for their strength, ferocity and toughness. They have been known to savagely and fearlessly attack almost any kind of animal when escape is impossible, reportedly even repelling much larger predators such as lions. Bee stings, porcupine quills, and animal bites rarely penetrate their skin. If horses, cattle, or Cape buffalos intrude upon a ratel's burrow, it will attack them. They are virtually tireless in combat and can wear out much larger animals in physical confrontations. The aversion of most predators toward hunting honey badgers has led to the theory that the countershaded coats of cheetah kittens evolved in imitation of the honey badger's colouration to ward off predators.

I think even pre-fall humanity was aware of the folly of creating super soldiers based on a creature even other apex predators are terrified of

The designers are well aware that a badger-based morph would be incredibly broken.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.

There should be a biomod that gives you a biological electronic brain. Not sure if that's actually possible though, but it sounds cool.

Isn't Biologically electronic a contradiction in terms?

If you mean a fully biological brain that can still interface to the mesh It would be difficult but certainly wouldn't be impossible.

No. Actually, there's already been research on making them, though at this point with only bacteria, not genetically altered neurons AFAIK.

Okay. But that's what you mean when you say electronic. A 'wetware' interface.

They should do like Shadowrun did and release a new edition set like 100 years in the future or something. Compared to the canon timeline, not ours, I mean.

That way that could add a bunch more uplifts, like elephants, domestic and var. wild cats like lions, dogs, bears, ferrets wolverines and honey badgers, squid and cuttlefish (these two are esp. Important), mice and rats, rabbits, etc.

Yeah some of those canon says are more difficult to uplift, but canon also says they're still working hard and more are just around rhe corner.

Wait did I mention Shadowrun on this thread before? I think maybe. Eh, whatever.

Squid and cuttlefish would be different from octopussies because unlike octopussies, they're social animals, Also, they both look cuter than octopussies, in general.

octopodestongue

I don't know. That sort of implies that they've managed to take earth back from the Titans by then. Or at least recovered a large amount of the pre fall data from gene banks.

Personally my head canon has always bumped the setting's time line another forward another 60 years or so anyway. It's only supposed to be 10 years after the fall but characters refer to it as if it was something horrible that happened happened long ago rather than recent memory.

Think of the Holocaust more than 911, pardon the insensitive metaphor.

They've still got cats and dogs for sure. And I know a lot of the pods are from various animals, they said the Critters can be from a wide variety of animals and there's a squid pod too, plus the owl pod, etc. I don't remember them mentioning losing a ton of gene data specifically, just a lot of dead people. So there wouldn't really need to be a change there.

Apparently jumping spiders are the most intelligent arthropods around. Giant adorable uplifted spiders, can you imagine? waii

I'm not sure they'd scale up well without like... nanobot hairs or something. sounds more like a synthmorph for landloving octopi than an uplift.
