Introducing the Visual Arts Topic

Welcome to Visual Arts/Graphics, everybody!

So nows we have a place where our artists can discuss things.

So I was intending to ask this in the thread where the forum was suggested, but I guess I'll go ahead and ask here:

It seemed like it was suggested at one point that this forum be like Writer's Block for visual arts, but it also sounded like it was for discussion of the visual arts media, like painters and stuff. Which is it? Or maybe it's both, I dunno.

If it's the former, this should really be under the "Real-ish" forum.

If it's the latter, then carry on.

For the former, this should be moved here, probably. For the latter, this.

I always thought a cozy place for the community's artist to hang out would be nice. We could call it Artist's Alley, to go with Writer's Block, and we could post forums for our art with silly names like, "Lol another doodle" that eventually became our portfolio thread and we would be embarrassed by the name of it forever.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd also like to know if this is for discussing art or for troper art.

I suppose until someone gets told off for it, we can use it for either, right?

As evidenced in the Hello Artists thread in Yack Fest, plenty of us draw, paint and whatnot. As well, many of us are intersted in art history and have a few favorite artists from througout the ages. I've had some pretty knowledgable conversations about this sort of thing with other tropers, and have seen plenty of derails on the subject. It's something we're interested in, but there's no forum to contain it like there is for other fine arts like live performance. Could one possibly belong?

Yes, I imagined it to be for both, but I like it here because it encourages sharing your knowledge about existing art as well as sharing of one's own.

Seriously, wouldn't a forum like this belong under 'Realish' with the other creative crafty forums? It keeps Bugging Me that it's under 'Media'.

Random Question:

Would this be the Forum to ask about making animated Gifs?

I have a question on them, and I want to make sure I'm in the right place.

Would Visual Arts be the right place to post a thread about an Art Group, including stories and characters inside it? Or would I go somewhere else for that?

The answers to those questions are "yes" and "I think so", respectively.

Thank you, I just wanted to know some of your opinions on The Scream (Edvard Munch) and Abaporu, are they alright? I fear the descriptions I made might be too long, what do you think?
