Well, maybe Amazon or Netflix will pick it up? Not holding my breath for either, though.

At least Connor and M'gann got a happy ending.

It'd be cool if Netflix grabbed it.

The series is good money. Someone should let it get finished.

I wouldn't trust Netflix anything these days, considering how cancel-happy they were just a few months ago. Besides, I think the property being owned by DC and WB, it'll probably go to whatever becomes of HBO Max by this point.

The trade paperback of Targets will come out on July 2023. It'll probably be the last YJ content we might get.

Though I do wonder....if Zaslav is removed maybe new leadership might be amenable to it?

It's annoying but given how much of a racist cheapskate Zaslav is not surprising.

New solicit for the next issue of Young Justice: Targets, out on 11/22/2022 (or earlier if you have DC Universe Infinite).

"Just as it seemed that Superboy was about to make some headway, enter a Kryptonite-laced Metallo! Will the team be able to finally achieve their goal and rescue Perdita, or will the Lexcorp robotics factory be their final resting place? Check out this penultimate chapter to find out!"

Question: In the first season, Robin did things with words, "why is no one ever just whelmed?" then started using whelmed as a word, then there's the time he told a distraught Artemis to "get traught," among other things. Would this be Buffy Speak, Totally Radical, Verbal Tic, or something else entirely?

Out of those three I would call it Buffy Speak or maybe just Catchphrase as another option.

Solicit and cover for the final issue of Targets.

And now, in our final issue, we ask the question...will they succeed? Find out in this dramatic, action-packed, and heart-wrenching finale!"

So I was re-watching the scene from Season 3 where Beast Boy creates the Outsiders.

And something hit me: did they just reconstruct Kid Heroes, especially after Real Life has focused more on them being akin to Child Soldiers?

Like, listen to Beast Boy's speech about why he's forming the team:

Hell, even the attitude toward the older heroes is less Adults suck so we're gonna form our own team and more if we want to reach younger people, they need to see people like themselves using their powers responsibly, and for the betterment of others.

Like, it's kinda right there in his speech and I totally missed it.

Essentially, yeah. It feels like a natural evolution from the metahuman trafficking since season 2 that "created" all sorts of new metahumans, and it also brings back more traditional superheroics that the first two seasons didn't have as much due to the covert nature of The Team.

And the use of the Hollywood base cemented it to me as the show's version of the Teen Titans. Just not using that name. tongue

The final issue of Young Justice: Targets came out today. It's probably the last story we'll get in this continuity as of now.

The first part is a resolution to the main story. Fairly standard stuff, some cool moments for the heroes, and even Superboy and Superman bringing Match home with them. I think the final back-up story is what everyone will be talking about: Artemis remembering Wally's birthday, his promise to always protect Perdita, and eventually a look at Wally's funeral post-season 2.

I've had some issues with the comic, but I thought it was a strong ending, and if this is how the series ends, it's a touching way to end it.

This comic probably gave him the best outfit out of the three he's had in the series, but yeah, he's become one-note. Probably why I'm glad he wasn't the main villain of the story.

So Match's fate is in this comic rather than in that tie-in game?

GamerSlyRatchet Since: Jan, 2011 Relationship Status: I won't say I'm in love
#12840: Nov 29th 2022 at 12:08:47 AM

Correct. The video game's biggest events are the Black Manta reveal and Tula's death, with some minor lore dropped via dialogue or the collectable Red Arrow journals. Match only returns in the 2011 tie-in comics and this current comic series.

This actually reminds that when Conner was just revealed to be in the Phantom Zone, there were fan theories that he'd lost his body and needed to possess Match's body to be revived and back to normal. Beyond how wrong this theory was and how morally questionable it is, it made me realize how few people didn't read the comic and know that Match was heavily deformed. Which is not helped by the PZ hallucinations using his season 1 design because that's how Conner remembered him then. It must've been a very different viewer experience. [lol]

Match being messed up shouldn't be a surprise to anyone familiar with the source material. It's been long established that trying to clone Kryptonians just doesn't work out for whatever reason. Viable ones always have to have something else added to make them viable, such as human genetic material.

In the original YJ comics, Match started out with white hair. In hindsight that may have been a sign that he was already degrading. In later appearances he had black hair but had the appearance and opposite speech pattern of Bizarro.

Isn't he technically YJ's Bizarro anyway?

Not quite. Superman's imperfect duplicate / clone Bizarro always had the characterization of a Tragic Monster and good intentions — he usually wants to be a hero like Superman, but he's too unstable to make it work most of the time.

Match otoh hated Connor from the start.

Amusingly the recent Suicide Squad comic brought back Match and he's a much more nobler and tragic character, being one of the primary characters of the run

Even his relationship with Connor is less hateful

[up][up] I think that they refer to him as "bizarre" twice in the tie-in comics makes me thing he's the YJ version of Bizarro. And even with his constant rage and aggression, Conner and Clark still refer to him as a "brother", so maybe they'll try to rehabilitate him in Geranium City or something. If they do want to introduce a YJ Bizarro, he'd definitely have to be a being from Bizarro World to avoid the redundancy.

[up] I remember hearing about that. He even dates Nocturna, apparently.

I hadn’t really thought about it until recently, but, it just reached my attention that something rather strange has occurred with this show

For you see, a while back; I was just starting to get into an initial idea that I had for my WIP “Teen Titans 2003”; a character that was previously apart of a certain group, but no longer is, being cloned and then that very same clone basically takes over their original position in the story, with a few minor caveats, and now I can’t help but notice that YJ has done pretty much the same thing in S4. Although I honestly can’t say that I know if this idea came to me before or after I found out about the big Speedy twist reveal in season one or it’s progression in season two

The Season 1 episode where the crew pose as acrobats to join Haleys circus was on. Parasite was fun, but, um, his plan was to create a black hole right? Okay, sure. But, he created that black hole, while he was at ground zero. Was he planning to die via spaghetification? Because I don't recall an escape plan.

Also, the aliens that the Team fought in that psychic simulation in Season 1, were they based on nay existing race from the DC universe?

[up] I always wondered if the whole black hole business was actually some attempt to open a Boom Tube without a Mother/Father Box or something. They did mention Parasite worked for Intergang, which always felt like a random reference otherwise.

Also, I always thought aliens were not meant to be anything specific. Maybe some generic blend of multiple ships that J'onn has seen in the past.

The aliens fought in the Failsafe simulation don't seem to be based on anything. They're a completely generic and faceless and inimical threat. They were after all just a bunch of glorified videogame enemies.
