I honestly think that we should keep looking for a better one, but put it up in the mean time. It doesn't really have a clear consensus. 45% of people don't like it. That's not consensus. That's slightly less argument than the rest.

I can't think of any other good image suggestions, aside from the ones I suggested. I would personally go with either Raven or Blackbeard, but Raven's only +1 while Blackbeard's dipping into the negative.

^^I'm inclined to agree. It can go on the page, but let's keep this open.

So, if we're putting up the Raven pic, something like this as a final version?

What's the matter? Afraid of the dark?

That looks good.

I wish we had a picture that was farther in the green, but oh well.

That's really hard to make out with how dark it is.

Can we get a 350 pixel version to see if it's any clearer?

Yeah, it's a contrast issue, not a size issue. Hmm... I'll run it through Gimp and see if I can tweak it a bit.

Swapped the Magic The Gathering images in the crowner for cropped versions.

Swapped out the Blackbeard one, as well as added another for your consideration.

That looks more like wind than darkness.

This trope is really hard to picture IMO most just look like other things such as black magic.

What about this?

I assume the tentacles there are made of darkness, but they don't have enough of a spotlight in the picture.

This is a tough one.

Well Nocturna Nigredinis is Latin for Black Cloth Nocturne or more loosely translated as Black Cloth Shadow. So there is a bit of a Genius Bonus there.

They look more like ribbons and cloth than actually commanding darkness especially knowing the translation. I mean, the same sort of black ribbons decorate the arms of his robe.

I think rodney's tweaked Raven pic is the best so far.

Yeah, he really looks more like wind control than shadows. He's got all the motifs of wind. It just happens to be coloured black.
