Yeah, I'm having issues understanding it. So are we just throwing out the last game?
I love you, Krillin!! -struggling to breathe- I love you as well, honey..@capnrecked: Yeah, that system seems a bit too complicated for a forum game like this. RTD is kinda supposed to be simple and easy to get into even if the rolls as is can completely fuck you over at a moments notice.
I know I added a crapton of unwritten mechanics during my run as GM, but that was mostly designed to offset the effects of bad rolls (especially since I loved to make bad stuff more severe than good stuff) and make bosses somewhat threatening, and usually they worked within the d6 system. We can have alternative variations on the system so long as its still recognizably RTD.
Yep. Glad to see you're feeling better, but I gotta go with the majority. It's pretty gosh-darn hard to get.
Yea, this just seems too complicated. Anything involving that much multiplication probably won't work for such a game. Heck, that's even true in real life tabletop games.
Though, if I were GM and I wanted to add anything "complex", I'd separate actions into a few discrete categories, like Fighting, Magic, Sensing, Conversing, Movement, etc, and let everyone pick ratings for each category, 1-5. Then, depending upon the rating, you'll get a different spread of outcomes along a d10, with some outcomes becoming more or less likely the higher the rating is.

To clarify no I don't intend to throw out the current game, I would like to run a test game with this system to see if it works on both sides.
It would affect me as the GM the most I have to roll more for the players, and walk through the steps with the players, on a player by player basis.
A vote should be held though if it should or shouldn't be held (Keep it as it currently is, status quo.) Then if a test game is held should be held should here or held on a separate thread, side by side.
This system is intended to incentive roleplaying a positive aspect which is difficult to award.
A simplified version may be conceived as.
A couple of stats for players which affect their play style, and their ability to distribute their stats to give an edge to their character where they believe they should have an edge.
Strength Endurance Dexterity or charisma. (Combat focus or diplomatic focus)
Traits for players which give positive effects when they are played to.
A system for which I can categorize an NPC relationship status with players.
Miscellaneous rules for my referal. Players won't notice them. For me it makes the game a bit structurized and for you it gives you control over your characters.

Airhorn soundsi personally think that the luck-based system works just fine. but im open for changes
And then there was silencebunp to make sure this thread isnt forgotten
And then there was silenceit's been almost a month since this thread has been posted in; can the gm come forward and say whether he can gm anymore?
And then there was silenceWait. I'm confused. How do you play this? Do we all control our own players or are we controlling one character? What's the current plotline? Are we picking that up or starting over?

The ink flows into a dark puddle, just move your hand- write the way into his heartWe control our own players, the plot is mostly made up as gone along, and it seems that we might have to pick a new GM.
If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!Mmm. I'll be back once you've found one, then.
The ink flows into a dark puddle, just move your hand- write the way into his heartI get the feeling that capnrecked is long gone by this point, so someone should step up to the plate if we want to continue this. I'm definitely not going to do it myself, as I don't really feel like running this again and I've also got other commitments to worry about.
Gone how? They last posted like only two months ago.

The ink flows into a dark puddle, just move your hand- write the way into his heartThat's eternity in forum time.
True, true.
The ink flows into a dark puddle, just move your hand- write the way into his heartI've thought of becoming the new GM with a new theme, but I have almost no imagination to speak of.

If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!Alright! Sounds rad! What'll it be like?
One of either two things.
The first would be a return to the game's original style. No classes, no races, just over the top real world fun.
The second would be a Fallout themed game. I'm not sure how'd I'd put classes into this, though.
If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!You can have the races be mutations, maybe?
Are there different classes of humans in Fallout?
The ink flows into a dark puddle, just move your hand- write the way into his heartThe four classes would be: Human, Ghoul, Android, and Super Mutant, so I suppose yes.
No, I don't think so. Actually, yes. Still, not sure how to implement them.
Each one would have their own advantages and disadvantages, but I'm still working it out.

If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!Having a theme would probably be better for immersion and whatnot, though doing something like that takes quite bit of effort if you want to maintain some semblance of continuity.
Also, I'd recommend making a document or using a document organizing program (I use Scrivener) to record everyone's actions and prepare the responses to each post, so you don't have to write everything on the spot and so you can keep track of everything. Also it's good for keeping notes and stuff.
ehhhhh i don't like having only four classes. The previous R 2 D's had a LOT of leeway with classes, considering the setting.
then again i've never been fond of fallout's aesthetic so eh
And then there was silenceAfter much thought, I have decided to back out. This is far beyond anything I'm capable of.
And I think you mean races. Classes could pretty much be the Skills in the games. Making it about thirteen classes at least.
