There's been more than one occasion where I beat an FOE because I'm sick of it annoying me [lol] Though I haven't tried taking on the FOEs in this crystally area yet, maybe I should give it a shot.

Side note: I finally got the secret key and man these areas are expansive and puzzling! Thankfully the rewards are super worth it. Exploring for the sake of exploring always has me super excited, and being rewarded for it makes me super happy. Seriously, finding this key totally bumped up how much I liked EO V (though I'm not sure if I actually like it more than EO IV, even if V is a lot more challenging).

I recently beat the Law and Order sidequest in The Fafnir Knight and I have to say that I actually felt kind of bad after fighting the Indignant Mantis. I wasn't expecting it to just leave peacefully after you beat it and then realize it's trying to go after the bandit's flute.

Was also surprised the Indignant Mantis doesn't get added to the Monster Compendium, but I suppose that's for the best, since I heard it's one of those battles that can be permanently missed.

finally beat hippogryth, just barely.

my 2nd chainblast didnt bind anything ;-;

went in with a fencer, pugilist, botanist, warlock and shaman, went surprisingly well for the most part, even though i kept getting stuck with ailments almost constantly.

unfortunately my pugilist died two turns before the end

I just beat the Amalgolem. Got to say, the little golems are pretty cute, so long as they aren't trying to kill you.

I wasn't expecting one of the sidequests to throw four Toxipedes at you in quick succession. Then again, I suppose the game expects you to be able to handle Toxipedes at the point that sidequest comes up.

By the way, when do Legendary Titles become available? I heard that you had to reach 10F, but do you have to beat the boss first?

yeah you need to beat the hippogryth to get access to em, and from there your characters gain the option to choose a mastery at lvl20 onwards in the guild menu.

the game also gives you 5 free items that insta-level characters to 20 afterwards

If you kill a Toxipede before the others join in, the others run away.

[up]Huh, didn't know that. My adventurers weren't high enough a level to kill Toxipedes in one turn, but they were strong enough to take down all four Toxipedes even after they all joined the battle.

Also, just killed an Impeding Tengu. Haven't killed a Glaring Stinger or Bucking Giraffe yet though; I mostly tried my luck on the Tengu because I managed to shove a giant boulder on its head and stun it.

Class specializations are explicitly the reward for beating the boss of the 10th floor.

[up][up]The FOEs for the second and third stratum aren't anything to be scared of (outside of them potentially swarming you).

[up]I'm thinking of trying to fight a Glaring Stinger soon. I heard one of their drops can only be gotten if they're petrified; what skills can inflict petrification?

I don't think there are any basic class skills that do petrify. The only ones I can recall are Altar (Warlock Spec A) and Tombstone Vice (Necromancer Spec A).

There are a couple of weapons that have petrifying skills on them though. I can't remember the names, but that's probably the most practical way.

petra flyssa and gorgon arrow, a sword and bow respectively.

the former is gotten from a floor 10 quest (doesnt show up immediately) and the latter from floor...9? or maybe 8. its in a chest.

Use Petrify Gas or a Smoke Botanist.

So Atlus just made a big ol' poster with the skill trees of every class in EOX, and u/RegalStar on the EO subreddit has already posted a translation of it.

If I wasn't already planning to make Hero a fixed spot in my party, I would be now, between the passive heals, defensive skills, and attack skills.

Also looks like Harbinger made out really well with both the ailment and debuff skills, plus Auto-Miasma got baked into Miasma Armor, which is nice

Kind of sad that Gunners lost Burst Shot though

It looks like Etrian Odyssey X is out in Japan now. If you're hoping to avoid spoilers until an English release then don't go looking up further info about the game.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.

Personally, I'm indifferent to getting spoiled but I figured that there was at least once person who uses this thread that didn't want to be spoiled so I thought I should give a heads up just in case.

That all said though, are you having fun with the game so far?

I'm having fun, but the game seems to be super long so who knows how I'll feel by the end.

That said, I'm playing on Heroic (which is apparently just Expert with extra bragging rights, since you can't switch back to it after downgrading to Normal, or even select it at all on New Game+) and I feel like it's been walking a fine line, in terms of class balance. My party is Imperial, Landsnecht, Shogun, Gunner, and Arcanist, which you'll notice doesn't have a tank and the Arcanist isn't very good at emergency healing. And I've definitely noticed that: in the earlier strata I literally had to guard every turn just to survive random battles, and I still use guard pretty regularly. And while that's fun and tense (and maybe a little aggravating at times), I feel like it might be totally trivial if I just had a Protector or a Medic.

I also feel like the Hero class was specifically designed to make this less of a problem, but I don't want to use a Hero and I'd imagine I'm not alone.

Man, fuck floor 29 of EO V. There's making something challenging but this is just being straight up being spiteful in your game design...

Once you get past the thrill of having a space stratum, it quickly becomes apparent how much of a pain Empyreal Bridge is.

So I just beat the Hippogryph and got access to Legendary Titles. Anyone have any suggestions on what titles I should give my main party? My main party has a Pugilist, a Dragoon, a Masarao, a Warlock, and a Botanist.
