It's showing up early/late. Pikachu weren't found anywhere but Viridian Forest and the Power Plant. Unless this is based on the Japanese Blue where one could be purchased from the Rocket Game Corner.

Alright, ain't no way the Pikachu isn't going to end up on Red's team, whether either of the two like it or not.

I'd say there are much worse days Red could be having, but I remembered that that Red has acually gotten much further.

I have a message from another time...

It took me a minute to realize Clefairy was dreaming.

If this is the craziness we get with regular dreams, I can't wait until we get a Dream Eater comic.

^ I could see this dream page being the gag for a Dream Eater page. And the the Drowsee/Hypno that uses Dream Eater will give it back because it's too disturbing.

This is about to go poorly for Gary.

Clefairy used Metronome!

Clefairy used JUDGEMENT.

If you use explosion with your last Pokemon against your opponent's last Pokemon and defeat them, you still lose (in single player) right?

It's been a long time since I've done something that "so-crazy/stupid-it-just-might-work" in a Pokemon game.

Pretty sure, yeah. I mean, they don't let you walk around with fainted pokemon.

It's because the actual "game over" condition is running out of pokémon, which you just did.

What if it's a player-versus-player battle, though?

In PVP, I'm pretty sure the user wins. Same with moves like Double Edge.

I forget it it's a mechanic or not, but there's a rule where if you use something like Selfdestruct when you both only have 1 pokemon left, and it K Os the opponent, you still lose. Self KO Clause it's called.

From what I remember of the Smogon rules, if it's a double KO with self destruction, the one who used explosion loses.

Hmm... that's interesting. I think the game itself processes it as a win.

I did that before in the original Red/Blue. In the case of a Self Destruct/Explosion "victory" double KO, you lose no matter what if that's your last Pokemon.

I think pvp allows draws to be recorded.

New strip. Gary hangs a lampshade on the disconnection between the name of a certain move and what it can actually do (Yes, Double Slap actually can do up to 5 hits in a single attack).

Well, in fairness, the name is really more descriptive of the type of slap instead of the number of hits. The animation in the games, at least, is pretty clear on this. But if you didn't actually see the move in action, some confusion would be understandable.
