I might have to watch the movie just because Netflix is missing the last and only the last disc. The same thing happened earlier when I decided to re-watch Wing, though miraculously that one finally came, but it's unlikely to happen again as they don't even have a single copy of this.
(checks)Oh wait, never mind they don't have any copies of any of the movies either.

Episode 3: That was a pretty nice ending, actually. I think this series pulled off the Disney Death of the male and female leads thing better than the other series that did the same thing. (Seriously, why does every Gundam OVA series have the same ending?)
I guess it is.In hindsight, Gundam Wing wasn't actually that bad (it was the prototype-fujoshi fanbase that caused its infamy), for the simple reason that Wing probably makes as much sense as Code Geass - they may have thrown as many trains as possible near the series' end, but they did try to tie every loose end to at least prepare for Endless Waltz.
And it's not like the head writers ruined Heero Yuy's character just because one of them had a beef with Hikaru Midorikawa, now did they? Did they?
Query: If a Gundam series - while remaining true to its thematic roots - is presented in a manner atypical of a Gundam series, can we still call it a Gundam series? Some "fans" seem to think so.
Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams!Yes, because we all know the lame dub and lacklustre animation are insignificant next to the irreparable harm done by a bunch of OOC 1x2 fics.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Well, they are. The nonsensical plot is a considerably greater issue, for a start - if anyone has figured out exactly what the Rommefeller Foundation was trying to accomplish, for instance, I would greatly appreciate knowing. Were they arms dealers seeking War for Fun and Profit? Aristocrats intending to Take Over the World? Something else entirely?
What's precedent ever done for us?My vote's for aristos trying to cling to relevance in the only way they can.
Of course, that's mostly because I've always thought of Wing as being set in a parallel world where the Great War never happened.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Or were they trying to expand their sphere of influence further?
(if you think about it, this could be a nod to F91 and that whole aristocratic philosophy that kept the conflict going when it should have been over in the first place...)

Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams!Gods... I don't think we'll have any chance of covering up the Double Entendres when the full episode airs.
What's precedent ever done for us?Why does the Rommafeller Foundation's motives need to be laid out like a silver platter? There is interest in ambiguity. Besides, I think it seemed pretty clear Dermail wanted to be the head of a Earth sphere government and was manipulating the Foundation's interests to his.
@306: Did you just call the Gundam Wing dub lame?

Yes. Yes I did. You wanna make something of it? Scott Mc Neil cannot carry an entire show by himself - the man, despite rumours to the contrary, is only human.

A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Some measure of explanation would be useful at some point - without a clear motivation, it's hard to know what your protagonists are fighting against. The weird thing about Rommefeller is thatr half the time, they seemed to be looking for world peace with them in charge, and half the tim, they seemed to be taking a hyper-militarist attitude so that they might achieve economic dominance through War for Fun and Profit. Put simply, they didn't seem able to decide whether they wanted to be arms dealers or aristocrats.

Christ do people overhype Duo. Everyone's favorite Gundam seems to be the Death Sycthe.
The idea that Scott Mc Neil was the only good VA is ludicrous.
In fact, I'd call Every. Single. One. spectacular.
Just watched Unicorn's second episode. That show's a fun ride, all right, if admittedly rather high on the narm-count as per normal for the franchise. Oh, and I think I'm kind of rooting for the Sleeves so far.
One thing I found quite interesting is the implication that Banagher's a former Tyke-Bomb. Would certainly explain quite a few things about his personality.

What's precedent ever done for us?Yo. Just spotted this thread and read it. I've seen the start of 0079, all of Zeta, CCA, both Unicorn episodes out so far, F91, 08th, Seed, Destiny and 00. Also a gunpla builder (UC and 00).
I just watched the second Unicorn episode as well. Very nice fighting and plot development. I especially liked Marida take out Banager and keep Riddhe away. Didn't see that one coming at all.
Based on those flashbacks, might Banagher be a Cybernewtype?
Also, does anyone else find it weird Riddhe was piloting a ReZEL commander type (with the big gun) while his commander was not? Ah well, at least the normal type's beam rifle has the awesome bean bayonet, just like the zeta (which is my favorite Gundam).
Also, yay for the GM III making its second appearance, probably as cannon fodder alongside those replacement Jegans. Let's hope we get to see em in a fight in the third OVA, along with the Loto's. Preferably against more than 3 Sleeves suits, so we get a properly sized battle. I also hope they give more cameos to stuff from CCA than the GM II and the Rewloola (Char's flagship), preferably the Ra Cailum.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!

The movies are overall a better, (and certainly faster and less expensive) experience than the series. They are in fact probably some of the few compilations for which that is the case. Zeta's were about equal to the series in my opinion, but most others are pretty mediocre, or in the case of 0083, unwatchable.
