However, the series are also out for all of those, so I don't think there's any need to worry in this case.
I guess it is.@thatother1dude: Actually they have released or will release soon the Zeta compilation movies, but those are a special case considering how much later after the series they were made, and the changes made in them. I agree that the Turn-A movies are unlikely, since they're pretty much superfluous. (It doesn't help that there were only two, so the story got cut down even more than normal for a compilation movie).
Yeah, actually trying to fit the preceding Gundam timelines into Turn A doesn't really work that well when you get down to the details of it, I suppose it works best as the far future of UC, but even then it's shaky.
Any Gunpla builders in here?
I'm just curious as I've got a major Backlog of Gundam Models.
TVTropes Nuzlocke Thread. - Arceus Help Us All.^^Gundam X (which was the only After War series) was cut short due to poor ratings. Bandai probably didn't see the point in bringing it over here.
Sad, too, because I've heard good things about it.
Well, they licenced Turn A Gundam eleven years after it aired, so it's not like there's no hope.

I guess it is.So, Unicorn second ep. Spoilers if you haven't seen the end of the first one.
I know it's a little late to be posting this, but...
Rereading some of the earlier stuff, I guess I overreacted when I said I wouldn't be posting anymore. I guess it's just that I've seen too many discussions on this site (and others) get ugly once people start criticising the various shows. The whole "last post" thing was a little melodramatic and I'm sorry. I guess my problem is that I'd rather talk about why I liked a show than why I didn't like another one, so the minute someone started saying they didn't like Destiny I went "oh no, ugliness coming" and pulled out. It didn't actually get that nasty, so I shouldn't have freaked. Maybe I will stick around.
Responding to Nikkolas: obviously I'd recommend watching Destiny, but I seem to be in the minority (that is, the group that loved it). I've met lots of people though, who well they weren't huge fans of the show, still seem to think there was some stuff in it worth seeing. Take what you will from that.

Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War episode 1: Seeing Gundam in CGI is really weird. It actually looks pretty good, though. I kinda wanted to see CGI!Char, but I'm not surprised that they didn't show him. He still managed to be pretty badass in his brief appearance, even though you never saw his face or heard his voice. A bit of Fridge Logic presents itself, though: this is the first use by Zeon of mobile suits. Why does he already have an Ace Custom?

I guess it is.Episode 2: Jeez, everything in this series is named after something from Norse Mythology. Way to be subtle with the Nazi comparisons.
I guess it is.^^^It's not an Ace Custom, just a custom paint job on a commander unit.
And yeah, MS IGLOO goes really far with the Nazi comparisons. Some viewers have commented that the series actually feels like Nazi propaganda at some points. Apocalypse 0079 goes on to introduce an obvious SS officer stand-in.
So am I the only Gundam fan in existence who likes Quess Paraya (but wanted to choke Chan), doesn't think 08th is the best series ever, doesn't like Char Aznable (and thinks he's an infinitely bigger douche-canoe than Ghinius Sakhalin ever was, who I actually found to be the most interesting and sympathetic character in 08th), watches 0083 solely for Cima, thinks Norris Packard is kinda' bland (and would be the most forgettable character in 08th without the Gouf Custom), loves the Zabis *because* they're so screwed-up, doesn't think Shiro and Aina would live happily ever after and that Aina isn't a pure, faultless little victim of her brother's existence (that they're both victims of their situation and if Ghinius's madness can be blamed on anyone, it's her), hasn't finished Zeta (though I need to), has never liked Wing despite liking slash, and likes UC for the characters instead of mechs?
Yeah, 'sup Gundam thread.
Well, 0080 was my personal favorite gundam, I liked Char because he was a massive asshole, I've only made it halfway through Zeta, haven't really watched Wing, and I like UC because of the story and the portrayals of war as being fought primarily be relatively decent people on both sides who just have opposing ideologies, even if the higher ups are real assholes. I like that it doesn't paint war as being fought between the 'good guys who you should love and root for because they're so good' and the 'bad guys who all sodomize kittens and who you should boo at or you're a bad person'.
Really, it pulls off the anti-war message very well, especially considering that it had to do so while also advertising the mechs out the wazoo. It even had small but effective touches like showing the Zeon pilots in the cockpits as they died while doing things like crying for mothers rather than saying crap like 'THIS CANNOT BEEEEE!'

Episode 2: For a moment I thought that we'd finally get an MS IGLOO episode where the test pilot doesn't die. But of course the Diabolus ex Machina comes at the last minutes. What a shock.
I guess it is.Responding to Androidraptor
I didn't hate Wing. In fact I rather enjoyed it, but in the way that I enjoy a summer action movie: lots of stuff blowing up, and some decent Badassery. I actually gave up on following the plot, because there didn't really seem to be one.
Haven't really watched much of stuff from before Wing, but from what I've seen of Char, I don't get what the big deal is. I mean, sure he's a cool bad guy. But not the god a lot of fans seem to make him out to be. Maybe I need to watch more than just a few episodes.
Personally, in 0079 I just found Char to be a fairly badass villain. I liked him, but he was hardly the only badass villain in the series. It was his Zeta incarnation that got him onto my favourite anime characters list (and I haven't seen Char's Counterattack yet).

I guess it is.Years ago, I got the first coupla DV Ds of the original MSG, but dropped off watching it after that and never finished it. Is the series worth watching in its entirety, or can I get the movies and be satisfied with them?
Really they don't cut out anything worthwhile.
The movies abridge some things but really outside of a few missing minor characters and one that they eliminated all of his earlier appearances but still appears late in the movies.
They also make things alot better in a ton of areas eliminate some of 'super robot' elements left in the series, massively improve the ending, get rid of tons of Off-Model scenes, and make a change to one of the suits that bugged the hell out of me in the anime.
I view the movies better in general.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!

@Nitramy: There was a Turn A movie? (checks) Huh, I guess there was. Yes, I'm sure that's what they're doing; they've never imported any compilation movie but for the original series.
@Nikkolas: No, there are seven Gundam universes which are distinguished by the Alternate Calendar they use. I'll just list the ones with animated works that there are English dubs for:
Assumably the next series will be set in After Century.
@Nyktös: It works if you just take Turn A itself to have Broad Strokes of every other series applied to it's past.0t
