Do you have a review anywhere else? I'd like to read it.

Fast Eddie has mentioned allowing the favorited Live Blogs to be saved somewhere visible. If you ask him, he might be able to bring Stuff From Spain's Attic back.

That's why I mentioned specifically asking him.

The ones in the LB subforum are getting automatically brought back on a temporary basis, no need to ask FE about them.

Spain Sun: For my next trick album, I'm doing songs made entirely of samples from a particular decade, what I'd be grateful if you could drudge up for me would be songs from the 60's with strong drums.
It just occurred to me that this song by Jimmy Smith from 1964 might help.

For some reason one of the first things I thought of was this:

That and I've always sort of wanted to hear some kind of trip-hop song based around the first 20 seconds of so of "Help I'm A Rock".

Well I've since dropped the idea of an all-sixties album. But I will definitely work these samples into Soter Omansky's the Blue Acid in some way. ^_^

Meta: eek, Christmas Songs. >_<

edit: Actually, I think a double album might work well. Yessss, that'll do spectacularly. One for the trippy stuff one for the downbeat jazzy things.

SCIENCE.

that sounds like Pete Rock and Four Tet fighting a squad of Beastie Boys instrumentals in some dark alley” meanwhile Lemon Jelly and Go! Team are having a pic-nic in the park.

I hate hate hate it when people describe their music like this.

I think it's sort of a good way of describing it, but that's just fuckin' stupid.

I have problems with "my music sounds JUST LIKE [artists X, Y, Z, and M]" in general. I mean, it can be pulled off well and is sometimes descriptive, but when you get things like that you know they're just pulling names out of thin air.

So I just got taken to see Gogol Bordello. Second time this year I've seen them, and they're good, entertaining and all, but I don't really get it. They seem like one of those bands you either get or you don't.

...is out to lunch.

Question; anybody know if Garry Cobain and Kurt Cobain are related?

Considering that they were born on opposite sides of the planet, I don't think so.

That doesn't necessarily exclude relation.

But okay.

What do you like more: really dark atmosphere or weird psudeo-industrial music?

For the former, I'd say Music To Play In The Dark Vol. 2. For the latter, go with Horse Rotorvator.

Better yet, try them both. :D

Has anyone else listened to Daft Punk's new album? It's mellow and orchestra-driven. I love it, but I guess it would be disappointing to fans who expected another dance album...

Can anyone identify this genre for me? It seems a bit like a synthy noise rock with some Tool influences, but I'm not so sure.

I'm just gonna go with industrial rock.

Man, I think I kind of remember that song. I think back in the late 90's my then-favorite radio station was giving it a little airplay. Yeah, I'd say industrial rock or maybe more like industrial metal. I know there's got to have been tons of other bands around the time that kind of used s similar sound, but damned if I can name any specific ones beyond, say early Filter.

Yeah, I did just listen to that Daft Punk Tron soundtrack today, it is surprisingly orchestral sounding for them, but pretty cool in parts.
