Okay, the idea seems to be getting a good deal of interest already. If I set up a thread later today, how long should I give for people to join up before we pick our first album, do you reckon? Also, should this go here or in Troper Covens?
Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!Troper Covens, probably. It seems more suited for that place.
Although, the Music board might get a little more traffic than Troper Covens...

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! You're probably right, but if the Music board regulars and those who've declared an interest here already know of its existence and where it is, then surely it can only gain new interest by being over there? I'm sure there are some people over on the right-hand side of the forum who'd want to take part, who don't normally lurk round these parts...
Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!A wise idea... I think I shall get right around to setting the thread up now.
Erm... how much time do you think would be best for listening to each album? 3 days? A week?

Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!Okay, thread is up! Go to Troper Covens to sign up!
Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!19-TET
looks interesting... I don't suppose that one of you lovely people could recommend me something in that tuning?
The Replacements suck, why WOULD you like them?
In all seriousness, if you're just looking for indie cred, the most indie thing possible is to say a venerated band sucks, so there's that.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Doublepost be damned, I just read that DJ Shadow's giving away two new tracks today at his bandcamp page
.

No need to even CARE about what genre is which people, theres barely any such THING.
"Worst thread plus Guitar Bizarre ———> Best thread" - SporkaganzaOkay, I know, I know, I should ignore bad reviews of albums I like and just enjoy them because I enjoy them and ya da ya da etc.
But Pitchfork just gave Everything Everything - Man Alive a rating of 3.8/10. I mean, I can understand that they thought that the singer's voice was very annoying, and that sometimes they throw a few too many ideas into the melting pot and the result is a bit questionable. But Three Point Eight?!?!? RAAEEEEEG! Up yours, Bitchfork.
...*Deep breaths*... Calm down... Okay, crazed fanboy rant over, had to get that off of my chest, sorry, carry on, nothing to see here.
Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!I know. I generally tend to think they are the most up-their-own-rectum music reviewing site in existence.
They're on the warpath at the moment. Some other recent scores include a 4.0 for Blonde Redhead's new effort Penny Sparkle, a 6.7 (though the review read more like a 5) for Of Montreal - False Priest and a 4.6 for Interpol's new self titled album.
And yet they continue to give 'OMG AMAZIN!!1!' reviews to any sub-par 'chillwave' band (seriously what a stupid name for a genre), or in fact any old crap as long as it has a metric fuckton of reverb slapped on top *COUGH*BestCoast*COUGH*.

Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!^^yeah, why are Best Coast so loved by bloggers? I don't mind them but.. it all seems a bit disproportionate.
I am annoyed on behalf of psychedelic feelgood sextet Citay tonight, only a dozen people ended up at their show. Sure, the venue was changed twice, but considering my city is practically twinned with theirs, this seems bad. And wrong. Barong.

...is out to lunch.^^ Erm... it's Interpol
. Better than Our Love To Admire if you ask me. It's pretty stark and uncomfortable listening actually, it's fairly obvious that they're not really going through a good patch as a band. Opening track contains the couplet "Dreams of long life, what safety can you find?", which is pretty freakin' morbid, even by Interpol's standards.
^ Yeah, I honestly tried listening to Best Coast, so I'm not just reactioneering because I'm angry. I really didn't get the hype. Frankly, it was hella boring.
