I like how little story arcs develop in the pastchats. Its awesome.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSgrubchat: A well-meaning meddler talks philosophy and violence with a beleaguered caustichef.
- The ability to VISUALLY PERCEIVE the ABSTRACT CONCEPT OF DEATH has done VERY LITTLE INDEED to make Orcuus more comfortable with it. In fact the effect has been RATHER THE OPPOSITE. Perhaps if he could meet the SLIGHTLY LESS ABSTRACT PERSONIFICATION OF DEATH, it would help, but that is unlikely since the trolls' afterlife does not work that way.
- Orcuus is a pessimist who puts on a happy face. He believes that things only decay as they progress, and therefore the only way to make things better is to continually attempt to restore them to the way they used to be, even if the way things used to be wasn't actually any good at all. Before the game, this was not a very prominent trait, and he only believed it in a very general sense. Each loss the group experienced within the game made the feeling more biting and personal.

At some point in the past, a thwarted meddler makes a promise.
I honestly don't care which point in the timeline this ends up at. What I'm thinking, though, is that it's after it has been made clear to Orcuus that Catlin dislikes him, and before the game starts. What I have in mind involves Coelia, miscommunications and assumptions.

Basically the idea is - partly through actions, not inherently malicious, on the part of Catlin, Orcuus ended up in the presence of Coelia and a lot of flammable material. The eventual conflagration resulted in several very painful but non-permanent burns, and Orcuus assumed, incorrectly, that Catlin had arranged the situation due to some petty grudge or other.
^^^ I do love me some ominous stuff like that.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers^^^ It could be that Catlin said something that could be interpreted as threatening in retrospect but it was all a coincidence.
"If you play with fire, you're going to get burned."
"Hey, Orcuus. I'll see you later."
Or something less cliche.

"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicIt's funny, because I used to see her as petite. She's just unnaturally strong, I guess.
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicRemember, Equius has the same body type as the rest of the trolls even in Hero mode.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, that's her, Zudak. Body of a gymnast, strength of a bodybuilder.
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - Narbonic^^ Stronger than the AV ER AGE troll. But somewhere below beasts like Vrigus.
A hot-headed trickster and an information broker are in cahoots against an unbeatable player.
Cahooooooooooooooots.
A mysterious champion, winning all the games. All of them. An up-and-coming mismatched FLARP team with great aspirations and everything to prove. Add a hundred more words and you got the title of an inspirational troll sports movie. Not a dry, un-prismatic eye in the house.
With build-up like this, there's no way they won't win and be rocketed to the top of the score-boards.
