I'm not a big fan of grimdark... but some things were meant to stay grimdark. Like the hidden government agency that (barely) contains about a thousand world-destroying entities and solves most of its problems with cannon fodder.
They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's Lifei should probably stop reading this stuff before bed.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterAfter years as a fan I finally, finally tried writing an SCP of my own. It made the "most popular" page overnight and is still climbing!

bogleech.com for my writing, comics and cartoons.I'm going to guess Brundle. :P
That was amazing - you kept coming up with even more disturbing details to throw in, especially in the experiment log. :D

ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOThat is fantastic, I'm more down with the more supernatural flavoured SCP articles personally, but that is quality. Looking forward to seeing what else you can come up with.
This line also caused the brix to be shat somewhat -
"I liquefied it and it kept moving."
I have as many names as there are winds, as many titles as there are ways to die.I always find them scariest without any explicit "supernatural" qualities, since if we acknowledge magic/spirits/gods/demons it makes almost every SCP a little too easy to explain away, the whole "wizard did it" syndrome. I like to think SCP's are more like "glitches" in whatever makes up reality.
Or, better yet, they're all completely normal but our perception of reality is so inaccurate and limited that they only seem anomalous to us. We are the SCP.
And then we were a zombie. : O

Entirely agreed. And even the ones that are 'magic' &c needn't ever all be the same kind of magic and be able to be handled identically...
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOThe maggots are fun- the best SC Ps are the ones that are dangerous without deliberately being hostile. The Clone Degeneration is a neat touch too.
They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeCompletely random thought: Of all the places to find a Crack Ship, I sometimes wonder about the ramifications of Cassie
X Fred
. It'd be completely incompatible, but hey...
I was browsing the SCP Wiki, and I stumbled across SCP-573.
My very first thought when reading this: Has the soundtrack to the new Muppets movie been released on vinyl?

I love this website. It seems very similar to us, actually. Let the community come up with the good stuff (and bad), and just kind of push it in the right direction. Doing this has created some of the scariest stuff I have ever read. Oh, and personally, the ones that are scariest aren't the ones that are supernatural, or the ones that are natural, but the ones that you don't know how (or why) they work. Nothing Is Scarier, after all. This is why that one with the staircase is so scary: WHAT THE **** IS IT?
Dear god, now I am thinking of a movie. Oh god... oh... oh god...
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.I honestly haven't found any of the entries I've read so far scary as such. If anything I think they're really cool.
I think it might be due to the fact that everything detailed on the website IS capable of being detained somehow. It kinda loses some of its creep factor (for me anyway) since I know that these creatures/objects aren't unstoppable.
Does anyone have any suggestions for ones that are genuinely frightening.
edit: Can't they just ask SCP-343 to get rid of SCP-682?

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizelhttp://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-093
has some good apocalyptic logs, and is just kind of creepy, but I don't find it all that scary.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087
is really scary.
Oh, any of the proposals for scp 001, especially the factory (OH GOD).
http://www.scp-wiki.net/black-white-black-white-black-white-black-white-black-white
is... well just read it for yourself.
A lot of them rely on fridge horror, more than just flat out scares. If you are looking for some good ones, just look at the top rated pages
until you find one that scares you.

They did. As I recall, he said it 'wasn't one of his'.
One of the best new entries is SCP-089
, which manages to have the freakiest Wham Line ever.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.

The Able rewrite is the best thing to happen to that entry in forever.
I have as many names as there are winds, as many titles as there are ways to die.
