Plus I think the devs might think that is a bridge too far given their role int eh story and designs begin specific to those games.
Its also why I suspect they didn't port the Persona designs over (and why subsequently Sakuya and Artemis among others got a new design for SMT appearances), as those are specific to the personalities of certain characters on top.
Speaking of game-exclusive designs, I want to bitch about something. So the first time I ever saw Vritra in this series was in the second DDS game
. Not my favorite take, but it worked in the context of that sub-series. The second I saw was the one used in SMT1
when I was scrolling through the wiki. It's a big red serpentine dragon, looks very similar to Ultimate Shenron, and is good. It's a bit simple, but in a classic kind of way.
Then we have the modern day design, used all the way through SMTV
, and I just hate it. This doesn't look like a dragon or an Asura that's going to fight Indra, this looks like a depressed swampman. I half expect him to be a mook fighting the Hulk in some obscure back issue.
on the topic of Hindu figures. I want to ask about if Krishna's design is based on any actual depictions of him. I'm assuming not as the dress seems too modern and the youthful curls were not the kind of hairstyle that you would find in hindu depictions. But I wanted to ask just in case.

Him wearing green is supposed to be a reference to the mythological Krishna having blue skin since one of the Japanese words for blue can also mean green. The flute and the peacock feather in his hat (originally a crown of feathers) are part of his standard iconography.

Imagine the rage if he did end up a Palette Swap of Mara. IOT There was already one sect trying to get SEGA from depicting him at all, but having that design would prolly lead to a lot more discourse in both India and abroad.
Makes me glad SEGA didn't consider it TBH. That discourse would be far annoying.

IIRC he's dark skinned because one of the meanings of his name is "black" (this is also why Vishnu-Flynn has black skin, I think)
Bewitching EyesSpeaking of DDS, I checked the script for the second game
to answer a question I had before, and yeah, it does take place in 2025. Someone specifically mentions the year, and everyone talks about how things went to hell five years ago, meaning 2020 is the year the world was destroyed (insert your own joke here).
If there was ever a year to announce a remake or remaster, 2025 would be it, but game development doesn't always sync up with reality like that.
So, been working on a little project... I'm going to FINALLY beat Lucifer in DeSu1! If you need a refresher, I tried once before on my Amane run, but even with the human characters at level 99 he was too hard and I eventually had to give up and finish the run for my mental health. This time I'm on the Atsuro route and I'm not leaving 12:30 until I get him. Time for... The Grind!
I think I might have mentioned before, but I found that if you have demons in the level 90s range, your main units don't necessarily have to be that high a level; they just need to be high enough that a single cast of Megidoladyne doesn't leave them scrambling to recover.
Though I should also add that I use the Tyrant locking strategy, so I don't know how effective my statement above is when combined with other strategies. Still, good luck with your other attempts! Getting past Phase 2 is already an accomplishment.

"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Since I can't help myself, I ended up getting Vengence while it was on sale. Mainly to play it on Steam Deck (portably but it doesn't look crunchy as hell).
I really love two things about the battle music. One is how the music doesn't start until someone throws the first punch. The other is that the battle theme for Daat is legit one of my favorite JRPG battle themes. It fits so perfectly with the oppressive desert atmosphere.

Once Upon A Time.![]()
There's honestly no real great way to counter Mana Burn at that level outside of utilizing Tyranny, the Auto Skills Magic Yang and Alter Pain, and of course using Mitamas to spread Victory Cry around.
How many Tyrants are you using? I think it definitely helps to have more than one Tyrant to push Lucifer's turn back as much as possible.
It's been a while since I played Devil Survivor, but I think my last attempt had around three Tyrants spread out across all playable characters.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Using Okuninushi or another high-end Kishin (since this is Overclocked that would be Bishamonten, I think?) along with the Tyrants to doubly push Lucifer's turn back should also be helpful.

It would be a dream to see the Embryon make a comeback as a group superboss fight. Sadly that privilege is reserved for just the Demi-Fiend nowadays.
