What happened next occurred almost too quickly for the eye to track; something in one of those images abruptly surged towards the projector and leapt clean out, flying towards Gordon with an unholy shriek of utterly fathomless rage.
ZETTAI NI YURUSANAI KARAAAAAA!!!! it howled.
The Danse Macabre Codex"Son of a bitch!" Gordon exclaimed, stumbling back. One hand reached for his shotgun, but he fell before he could pull the weapon out. On the ground, he drew his shotgun and aimed it at the... thing, and fired both barrels.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."The Doctor screams. "OH SWEET LORD!!!"
He remembers he has no guns and tries to use the screwdriver on it. "At this rate I'll need something else. Then again When All You Have Is a Hammer…..."
The thing screamed horribly as the psiblasts and shotgun shells struck it, but these did nothing slow it down; it kept coming straight at Gordon, snarling in rage, its form unfixed and difficult to focus on for even a second without the viewer's eyes succumbing to a sudden sharp pain, but a few things were clear.
It was humanoid, it was around the size of an adolescent, and it was carrying a bloody knife in one hand.
SHI'NE, it hissed, slamming into the barrier with a snarl and scrabbling at the distorted space with what might have been hands. Impossibly, the barrier seemed to rip and tear beneath its touch; it would take seconds at most before the thing got through. SHI'NE!!!

The Danse Macabre Codex"Fine, you want to be like that?" Gordon growled, looking away from the abomination to avoid causing his eyes more pain as he got up. "I'll just use a bit more firepower."
Gordon put away his shotgun, and reached for his RPG as he backed away from the... thing.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."The thing jerked and screeched as Spriggan's rounds and Raz's psiblast struck it, but it continued to rip and claw at the barrier. The creature seemed to be giggling now, the sounds coming from its throat a cruel mockery of a young girl's laughter.
ZETTAI NI YURUSANAI KARA, it crowed, the barrier finally falling before its hands. It advanced on Gordon, bloodstained knife held in a powerful overhand grip...
"Move, Doctor!" Dis Baba yelled.
The thing came to a halt and turned in the alien's direction—just in time to get bowled over by an onrushing palanquinbeetle.
The Danse Macabre CodexGordon swiftly rolled out of the way to avoid being crushed by the massive beetle. In mid-roll, he pulled out his rocket launcher and got up on one knee. Moments later, he stood up all the way, backing away from the spot the thing had fallen, laser trained on the spot.
"Don't you get up, you... you... whatever the hell you are," Gordon said, for a moment sounding a bit shaken.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."The palanquinbeetle pinned the strange assailant to the floor beneath its bulk, keeping its frontmost limbs atop the thing's legs and snapping at its face with large mandibles; enough of the unfixed attacker was exposed to allow Gordon a clear shot.
Dis Baba rose from his throne and leapt off. "Now, Doctor Freeman!"
The Danse Macabre Codex

Dis Baba eyed the seemingly-corrupted footage with growing concern. "Doctor, Spriggan, perhaps it would be for the best if you ceased your efforts; whatever is speaking seems alive in some fashion, and from its tone it seems clear to me that something—our own actions, perhaps—is agitating it."
Brief flashes of awful, horrendous things appeared on the screen as the footage reversed, rapidly blurring as soon as they appeared so that it was impossible to focus on them. A low rumble began to build in the Common Room floor, and the palanquinbeetle chittered in obvious fear as it glanced at the ceiling.
