Hmm... I'm near the end of the Soul Eater anime, and can't help but feel that something is wrong. I'm not quite sure what it is; perhaps Asura is in no way very threatening, perhaps the characters are losing their mystique, perhaps it's just that I've been watching too much of it and I should start watching Fairy Tail and come back for the climax in a few weeks. Or perhaps that's it; does the climax not feel like it's being properly built? Regardless, I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with the show, something big that I'm not picking up on. Is it just me/the personal reason of watching it too much, or is there honestly something wrong with the latter episodes?
Please do not bring up any events that take place during or after Season 4 episode 6. Additionally, I have not read the manga and I do realize that it is different, so please refrain from both manga spoilers (although given the topic I don't see why that would come up) and simply saying that the problem is it's different/worse than the manga.

A productive use of my time.I got your answer right here: the anime contains a Gecko Ending, because it caught up too quickly to the manga, which, by the way, wasn't even finished at that time! Many agree that it is not as well-written as the ending the manga eventually had.

Ah, so that's why the split occured. I always liked to think there was a massive argument between the manga writers and the people who reworked it into an anime that resulted in the manga writers throwing the script in the anime director's face and shouting "Well, let's see if you can do any better!" That aside, I'll still watch the ending, but I'll just take that as even more reason to find the manga when I can.
When I'm not busy, I read fantasy, listen to power metal, play video games, write stories, & explore TV Tropes. A productive use of my time.It would make no sense not to, from an economic perspective. Let's face it, we'd all watch it, right?
When I'm not busy, I read fantasy, listen to power metal, play video games, write stories, & explore TV Tropes. A productive use of my time.I want to know more about the world Soul Eater is in! There's something oddly working in its insane twisted logic that makes it a fun "real life supernatural" world that the anime didn't go to lengths to explain, like... what IS Blair, and how can a cat transform and have powers? Are there OTHER animals who can do that!? Not to mention how it's visual design is fun and enjoyable to see.
I rather want to go into game development, and I have an idea for a Soul Eater game that I think would be pretty awesome (although I undoubtedly would have to read the entirety of the manga to make sure it fits with the story). It'd involve a lot of searching the world and finding out more about it, among other things. It'll never happen; even if I do go into game development (which I would say is certainly a possibility) I'd never get the licensing deal to make it.

We NEVER get an answer for Blair's deal besides being blatant fanservice.
I get the feeling the mangaka wrote in Blair at a time where he had no long-term plans for Soul Eater and just wanted to have fun writing. But then it blew up, yet he really liked Blair to be in it somehow, resulting in having Blair just reappear as a background character with little to no more relevance to the plot, because her role wasn't meant to work in a long epic!

So her helping out in the raid on Death City wasn't important?
She did distract the mouse sisters, but that's mainly it. Their fight ended without any clear winner. Also note how I said "little to no".

I'm pretty sure having Death head your academy in an effort to prevent chaos from invading the world is considered epic, in this case.

Technically, an epic is a type of story about a very long and hard adventure, and the story itself is also typically long and hard. Imagine ancient Greek stories about people leaving home and coming back 20 years later married to a witch lady and having defeated about 50 giant monsters. As such, Soul Eater is not an epic in the literal sense.

When I'm not busy, I read fantasy, listen to power metal, play video games, write stories, & explore TV Tropes. A productive use of my time.Blair was introduced as a minor villain. ... and then became just fan-service and comedy relief.
The Mizune Sisters were mice basically so Blair, as a cat, could oppose them.
Angela is a cute child witch just so Black Star could have a reason not to kill her and to give Mifune some appealing character development.
Excalibur......... e— ...... you know what? Excalibur doesn't NEED a reason to be what he is. He is EXCALIBUR!
Well, I watched a couple more episodes, but it seemed disinteresting. Likely due to a combination of suddenly seeing the overly rapid wrap-up of every single plot element introduced thus far and my understanding of the fact that it's non-canon so everything I'm seeing doesn't matter to the plot anyway. As such, I am done watching the Soul Eater anime, and will instead track down the manga to see what actually happened in much better writing quality. In terms of watching a show, I shall now move on to Fairy Tail, which was next on my list of things to watch.

Got it. I'll check and see if my library has any of the 23 volumes currently in English.
