Kim's always been portrayed as money-obsessed and selfish, so I think this is in character. She softens up over the series, but that character development hasn't happened yet. Also, I'm pretty sure she's being called a witch in the figurative sense, rather than the literal sense. She is a witch, but the other characters don't know that yet so they're just calling her a *itch.
Man, that's a bad translation. I could do a better job... but it'd be rude of me to sign up specifically to knock someone else out of a spot. Oh well.
Anyway, this doesn't seem to be an alternate universe. To answer the question from before, sempai can be used for anyone your superior, whether in age or experience.

Yeah, I'm now suddenly remember how she told Ox to bug off because he wasn't rich. You're right about the witch thing, that girl who did the tour (I can't find her name) was just insulting her.
This makes me wonder how the hell Jackie and Kim became such good friends that Kim would let her in on the secret in the first place.
I get what you're saying and it kind of makes sense (they became partners and only got as far as they did because they got so close), but the way you say makes that sound like A Wizard Did It.
Some how Sid got impaled in the forehead with a a statue and Stein brought him back to life (Or so we're told. We're specifically told that stein was behind bringing him back to life, but that might be called into question considering Sid was part of their test too).
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHK
I thought it was really strange because, up till this point Crona always said "My blood is black", and it's actually always been that way.
Since Medusa replaced Crona's blood with black blood it's never been red.
So I thought it would be either 1)something significant plotwise, maybe indicating Crona is too insane to even remember his/her blood color or something crazy Ohkubo could whip out later on or 2)typo by Ohkubo or the magazine editors. I don't think it's likely for Ohkubo or the editors to miss such a noticeable typo, though....
Edit: aha! figured out how to do links. here goes the page.

200 dollars can easily buy me enough food for a month. But I cook my own meals. If I had to buy all my meals eating out... $5 x3 x7... approximately $60 a week at the lower end, maybe $100 dollars at the high end. Maybe the food prices are based on Japanese prices- food costs more over there.
Hmm... seems about right.
Also... was Kim always the type to shake down poor little girls for money?
