Untitled Power Rangers StoryIgnorance is Bliss by Face To Face - formerly a fairly good speedy punk band, they released a very bold, daring album of mid-paced rock with dark, slightly gothy undertones.
The fans... hated it. Supposedly entire crowds would walk away if they played anything off it live. Shame because it's an incredible album. Head and shoulders above the rest of their stuff. Definitely needs more love.
I like (a bit more than) a bit of country. Mostly older stuff, though; authenticity, of late, seems in steep decline within the genre.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I don't mind some country, but most of it I'd rather not listen too.
Underrated: Loreena Mc Kennitt. She's got more songs than The Mummers' Dance. Most of them are quite good.
Come to the Dark Side we have cookies!I loooove country but am not very well-versed in it and don't feel the need to listen to it very often. But stuff like Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard always got to me.
And then there's alt-country, and that just busts open the door. Wilco, Drive-By Truckers, Woven Hand, and Lucinda Williams are all a-maz-ing.
They're off the streets now, and back on the road on the riot trail. http://www.last.fm/user/sca_punkOverrated: Eric Clapton, goddamnit. Yes, some of his songs are up in my favourites, but otherwise he just gets too much attention.
Also, Jimi Hendrix in the same vein.
Underrated: Emma Pollock, though that's probably due to being rather new (sort of, her awesome solo stuff is new, but she was with the Delgados doing occasionally good stuff for years before that.)
I think The Beatles do deserve their spot in music history, certainly. Their earlier stuff in general (certainly not including songs like Yesterday) makes for really good dance music that's a thousand times better than what plays at most dances nowadays and overall is good listening, and their later music, with definite exceptions, is both very complex and simplistic, and that makes it work in a fantastic way.
But Rocky Raccoon can never be forgiven.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.I think enough people say that The Beatles are overrated that it kinda cancels everything out. However, it is indeed a lot about perspective and experience. I've personally never met anyone who went "omahgawd the beatles are the best band ever!!!!11!" I mostly find more sensible people, so I don't have any real idea of where some people are coming from.
Unless people are talking about music critics overrating The Beatles, then I have to ask why you're reading music reviews, especially ones like the Rolling Stone. *shiver*

Country's pretty much a Love It or Hate It thing. Or rather So it's overrated and underrated.
