the constant repettiton become gratting, not helping by stuff like "5 hobby only white people do" or something like that which become a rant midway(which most of the time is just "white people are weird and stupid unlike non white who are down to earth" which was...ughhh") and so own.
That, basically.
Every article was like one good point sandwiched between a barrage of insults towards the readerbase. Luke Mc Kinney was especially bad about that. There wasn't a single article from him not filled in absolute gleeful contempt towards everyone who read it.
I'm so glad that phase is over and they learned how to point out racism/sexism without shitting on everyone in the room.
There is a way to have articles highlighting discrimination and privilege in a constructive manner, and Cracked had a lot of those. They had far more of the condescending, poorly researched, holier-than-thou tone that drives moderates away. Around the election it got especially bad, save for a couple consistent columnist that could be relied on not to talk down to their audience.

Their article on Reagan was very accurate. Plus you know, when the Republican party have become a strawman parody of themselves, (like now) it makes articles against them pretty easy/deserved.
I get fatigue on all the political stuff, but given how awful the right wing has been the past two years I can forgive them.
Fair point, The Onion was much better at it.

Clearly it wasn't "no shit" for half the USA that voted him in.
I didn't mind the election articles. Republicans are scum who deserve every bit of mockery and more. And it's one hell of a tall order for an American site that consistently reports the news to stop covering the President who keeps doing an antrocity after atrocity which affects millions of human lives. Being able to say "Shut up about Trump" is a privilege not everyone can afford.
What I was talking about is couple years before Trump.
Are you saying that all Republicans are scum? Because I'm pretty sure there were Republicans who were against Trump from the beginning and are against him now. Also, I do feel that saying Trump sucks, while true, is getting a little tiresome.
Back to the topic at hand, I used to like some Cracked due to how funny they could be, but I feel as if their later stuff isn't as funny. It's a little too much politics for my tastes.

Just assume when he says "Republicans" he's not saying "every single Republican as a human being" but "the GOP."
And yeah, honestly while I found the "Trump Article A Day" format annoying, it was still better than before. It was the couple years before that every article was basically filled with condescension aimed at the reader. Trump actually gave them a target of ridicule that didn't make them seem like smug asshats, and "Some News" is one of my favorite regular videos on the internet.
I've found that a lot of their articles nowadays on pop culture in particular seem to basically be... sorta emotional fluff pieces. Take this one: 5 Terrible Cartoons That Got One Thing Right
. It's entirely written like someone half-remembering cartoons they saw years ago. I would've expected longer articles explaining why they were otherwise terrible, links to the thing they got right, and more description and demonstrations of specific scenes. Instead of feeling like I'm reading an article, I feel like I'm at a party hearing someone half-remember something.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Cracked's golden days was when it operated as a comedy website generally based around funny trivia and observations regarding history and pop culture. Largely the site was built around telling you stuff you probably didn't know.
Its current problem is that it seems that got to its head and now they think they're the heralds of hidden truth and want to lay down the law with every article, so they often have a condescending tone.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Its current problem is that it seems that got to its head and now they think they're the heralds of hidden truth and want to lay down the law with every article, so they often have a condescending tone.
That basically sums it up. Deadspin went the same way. They used to be a funny irreverent sports site that didn't play favorites with any teams or leagues. Unfortunately they went political a few years ago and it's been downhill ever since. Next to religion, politics is the quickest way to ruin anything cool or funny.

"If everybody is thinking alike, somebody isn't thinking"- George S. PattonSo in good news
I am fully in agreement with Lydia's post on the new Poirot's mustache. I am a big fan of Poirot stories and... yeah... How do you adapt Poirot and get Poirot's most distinctive feature so completely wrong. Johnny Depp's character in the same movie has a more book-accurate mustache! That and it seems like a puzzling movie to make. If you're a mystery fan, you know the ending either through watching the countless adaptations, or reading the original book, or the fact the story has been spoofed and parodied to death, so what's the appeal of watching a mystery you know the solution to. And if you're not... I doubt the concept of Murder on the Orient Express appeals to you.
I'm a mystery fan and Orient Express is one of my least favourites. Something about everbody stabbing the exact same guy in sequence and not noticing he's been stabbed before multiple times is just... not quite logical.
That and everybody and your mother did it is a really lazy end to it.
I wish they chose another book to adapt.
Do we need to spoilertag an 83 year old novel at this point? :-P
Also they noticed he's been stabbed multiple time. That's the entire point; that all 12 are working together (As a Jury / Executioner, hence 12 of them) and so no one can be sure who dealt the Fatal blow (which I am not sure what the later point accomplishes, they'd still all be guilty of murder no matter who landed the lethal blow if everyone didn't agree to cover it up). It's not 12 people all conveniently picking to stab the same guy at the same place and same time without realizing the other 11 are also on it.
I mean, I liked the book (Prolly one of my favorite of Christie's, and I usually don't care for her works), but it's literally such a Trope Codifier for so many stories I don't understand why they are making a new movie - what's the fun in a mystery where the solution is known.

I mean, yes? Because it's not just spoiling the novel, but also spoiling an upcoming movie. Especially since the article's point is "I know this plot twist, therefore I don't care about the movie."

Sad to see Soren go. Hopefully Seanbaby never leaves permanently. Wish he would get a column or article once every two weeks or something though.
