Mellony: I've heard most law school applicants have degrees in history, political science, or English, though if you want to specialize in, say, Patent law, it may be useful to know engineering, or Environmental Law, it may be good to major in Environmental Science.
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeAOD: Eeeuch. I went to law to get away from engineering! I think I'd enjoy majoring in philosophy though. And Berkeley does have "legal studies" as a major, just found that out today. It overlaps a bit with philosophy. I wouldn't mind majoring in history either, I like history and I'm good at it.

The quote from Random Number God, a Code Geass reference, which actually became relevant once I started playing as a Kallen expy in the troper D&D game (to which the quote links). So Yeah.

Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuIt's a quote from something I'm writing. It cracked me up when I first thought of it.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.Currently, a line from Dead Leaves, since I Just watched it again yesterday.
Was, oddly enough, relevant to the conversation in the rename forums...
They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?if you want to study law go to legal studies.
it's intense. i took an upper div legal studies course and i felt much more versed in the ways of law than i did prior to it. it's a good immersion in the field. and that was just one class.
also, it's a good way to get a realistic view of the industry you're stepping into. so if you end up not liking the first few classes, it's very likely that law isn't for you.
this is good because that way if you start off in this and immediately notice that you love it, then it prolly means law is for you. if you feel any discomfort with it, then you should prolly steer towards another direction.
college isn't about doing what you want, it's about finding out what you DON'T want to do. ESPECIALLY at berkeley. or i guess at berkeley it's more about finding out what you thought you could do but you actually can't.
that's the benefit of berkeley being so competitive. it really flushes out whether or not you're cut out for what you think you're cut out for.
for example, i thought i wanted to be in toxicology. but once i was in there, i was up against kids who were SUPER PASSIONATE about toxicology, moreso than myself. this made it so that no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't keep up with them because my passion just wasn't there.
so i changed majors to public health and finally found my place in the world! i was so much happier and better at public health and more passionate about it that i was easily able to compete with the others in that major.
getting an intense look at what you think you want to do is a sink or swim affair. and sinking isn't always a bad thing, it just means that you're probably going to be happier doing something else.
in any case, don't be afraid to dive in. if you study history, and then apply for law school, get in, and then hate it, and aren't looking to be a historian or a history teacher, then you're shit outta luck with a bachelor's degree you're not going to use. go straight into legal studies and find out if law is for you and get it over with.
and TRUST ME. if you want to get into berkeley law, legal studies will thoroughly prepare you. and if you can't do well in berkeley's legal studies major, then you probably wouldn't do very well in their law program as it's MUCH HARDER. so i'd encourage you to start with your general requirements and feel out if any of those fields feel good to you and at the same time start with legal studies classes to see if you want to pursue that.
you could prolly figure out if you wanna do law or not by the end of your first year if you do it that way. and if you find out that you don't want to do law, well you've just been fulfilling general requirements and took only a few law classes in the meantime. not too many wasted credits/time.
idon'tknowshutup.Earlier this week I finished working through the lyrics of Five Iron Frenzy's "Cool Enough For You".
Currently, my sig is working through the lyrics of John Reuben's "Cool the Underdog".
Classic "Blind Idiot" Translation line from Final Fantasy... I believe the first one.
Ninja'd - yep, the first one.

Oh, I should probably add that even though it doesn't link to the character sheet anymore, it's even more relevant as I almost immediately rolled a one and was forced to face up to it. So it goes.

Mixed berry custard crepe... mmmm.
Oooh, another Asian UC Berkeley graduate! (The other one is AOD.) I'm going to undergrad, I don't know if I can get into Berkeley's law school. But if I still plan on going into law in 4 years I'll apply. Got any advice for this noob here?
