All the other Media fora are doing it, so why not?

Currently waiting for Kingdom Come to get its ass onto the holdshelf so I can check it out. Will it be worth the wait?

flip, flip, flip Ah, there it is. Can't believe I missed that before. Pretty neat. Does it show up in any of his other Marvel work?

Also, recently finished Armor Wars. Great stuff. With this and his Spider-Man run, David Michelinie has cemented his place as one of my all-time favorite Marvel writers. Also got Demon in a Bottle on the way.

Bahaha, right because I'm TOTALLY embarrassed to admit I like comics. Silly Microsoft!

Well, it makes sense regardless. Admitting to reading comics would narrow down the number of people who'd date you more than admitting to, say, reading books or magazines, or watching TV or movies.

Same thing with playing videogames.

[up] If there are people who wouldn't date you just because you read comics, then you shouldn't be considering dating them anyways.

Not the point.

Let's say that you have an unusual fetish (like furry, bloodplay, or no-limit BDSM). Is that something you immediately broadcast to every person you date?

Obviously you don't want to broadcast everything about you, but the point is that comics are not on the same level as some weird kinky fetish.

What? If we're talking about a perfect world, no perfectly health hobby/fetish would be snubbed.

Why should a "weird kinky fetish" be considered lesser than your love of comics?

I don't feel like getting into a debate. Point is, it made me laugh that Microsoft considered comics to be a huge source of shame instead of just a hobby. That is all.

Yeah, except that's hyperbole and grossly misrepresenting the situation at hand.

Just finished Welcome Back, Frank. It's my first exposure to the character outside of Spider-Man guest appearances and the movies, and I enjoyed it a lot. Now I'm considering reading the MAX series, even though apparently there's less polar bear-punching.

Also working on Demon in a Bottle. Great so far. David Michelinie's one of my favorite Marvel writers.

[up]If you're looking to get into The Punisher, check out Marvel Universe vs The Punisher. It's a four part story about Frank living in a post-apocalypse where all the other heroes have been reduced to the more primitive instincts. It was pretty good.

Lex Luthor took 40 cakes. And that's canon.

Oh DC...

Now they just need to make all those Hostess adverts canon.

Didn't the Hostess Fruit Pies feature in the very much canon Spider-Man / Human Torch miniseries from a few years ago ?

I'm wanting to read some Hulk, to get an idea of the character and his world, but I'm not sure where to start. Should I take it from the top with Lee, Kirby, and Ditko? Go with Peter David's run? Planet Hulk? Any suggestions, fellow tropers?

[up]Never read Hulk, but I've heard a lot of good about Peter David's run, so I'd guess that'd be a good place to start.

Read the first issue of the new Turok: Son of Stone series. It was decent, but it kinda feels like I missed an issue because it starts with Andar being rescued by his father and Turok from some other tribe. Also, the artwork was hit and miss.

Planet Hulk is also a very good jumping-on point, if you don't mind dealing with Continuity Porn. Though, Greg Pak does a great job keeping you abreast of what it's about.

Jumping in to second that yes, Planet Hulk is fantastic. Plenty of smashing and great art.

IDW seems to focus on licences, do they have any original series?

Well, they apparently had Tank Girl for awhile, but now I think Image is the owner.

It says near the bottom of that page that 30 Days of Horror is one of their own titles. I imagine that doing license works pays the bills really well.

IDW is probably best known for the Thirty Days Of Night series, having spawned film adaptations. Its creators, Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, have published various other works through IDW. Locke And Key is an IDW series. IDW's originals seem mostly to be horror miniseries.
