...How did this get so much attention?
On the topic at hand, I'm dubious as to the validity of this claim. He seems like a nice enough guy. That and no one who voices Alucard the way he does could possibly be anything but the incarnation of all that is good.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialYeah, and Crispin Freeman is awesome. So he was right, he was just wrong about who played him.

[[User Banned]]_ My Pm box ix still open though, I think? As I said, I Take a Third Option.
I don't like his fandom, and I don't like his hatedom.
I'll just sit around and make jokes about "if ego and penis size were inversely correlated, Vic would be hung like a raisin".
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.I will agree that my position isn't entirely rational. Really, mostly it's about not having to have the dissapointing "oh, wait he's straight outside the role" moments, and dislike of using gay roles as Oscar Bait.
But I would certainly not require it by law! That would just absurd. I just would personally prefer to watch movies and series with gay actor for gay roles, and boycott movies and series with gay roles given for actors who are unsympathetic to gay people.
And to counteact the seriousness, back on the Ouranwank. I don't know about the Manga, I haven't read it. In the Anime, Mori -> Hani is given some strong support, and there isn't any female interest for Hani. And the Kyoya -> Tamaki thing is teased a lot, and left to interpretation. Mostly, I just hope that the show isn't gonna pull the carpet under the fans and go LOLJK THEY'RE ALL STRAIGHT. Because I would find that a bit offensive. Haruhi's dad is treated with some respect,s ure, but other than that, doing that would leave the oonly LGBT characters to be the silly transsexual, and the villanous lesbian Zuka club, which would be really deppressing.

Well, an Affectionate Parody, it would seem.

"LOLJK THEY'RE ALL STRAIGHT"
This is pretty much the mangaka's feelings about it, I believe. But since it's her work, I respect her right to do whatever the heck she wants with it. I really need to watch the anime sometime though.
And yes, it's definitely an Affectionate Parody.
About the actors playing gay characters thing, I would strongly dislike an actor who does a gay character as a negative gay stereotype, regardless of what sexuality or gender the actor is. Meh, but if the show's good enough, I'd still watch it. Depending on how offensive the stereotype is.
That said, I'd still like straight actors and gay actors alike to play gay characters, and for gay actors and straight actors alike to play straight characters. As I said, if you're a decent actor, you should be able to handle it properly. I don't think your sexuality should stop you from auditioning for roles. Also I try to never conflate the character with the actor. Maa, that's my personal opinion. As a student myself I adore playing characters whom I'm not, including characters who are of a different sexual orientation than I am, so.
EDIT: But then you get awesome moments like finding out womanizer Barney is actually a laidback gay guy in real life.

Agreed.
I like RPing pervy straight guys. I think it's fun.

I think that statement is probably a bit extreme. From what I have heard and seen of him though, I don't like him. He seems to be against slash. It is one thing to not like or support percieved homosexual pairings in anime. It is another to be against them. People should have a right to ship who they want.
And the "villainous" Zuka club aren't really guilty of anything the Host Club isn't, other than not being seen from a sympathetic POV. I think the creator admitted as much.
CLAMP: It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye.
Then it's a ship.
Seriously, I'll buy that Ed's straight. I'll buy that he could conceivably be an angry-at-god Hollywood Atheist, though I like to think Arakawa-sensei has more class than that.
But CLAMP are manga-same-sex-intimacy's patron goddesses. When they put a male character in a furisode, that's barely subtext anymore.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!^Agreed. Personally, I think saying he's a "homophobic Bible-thumping asshole" is way untrue, but I feel I'm not exaggerating in the slightest by saying that he seems pretty uncomfortable with homosexuality.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.I'd say it's not a problem. He's not going to be able to deny all the Yaoi stuff with his newest role, though, at least not without losing any credibility he may have had left among the Yaoi Fangirl crowd still willing to put up with him (in all likelihood a pretty small group). With all the other shows he's done, it's a possibility his characters were straight, but this time around, it's literally canon (from what I've heard).
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.

Pika T, I suspect that you didn't even read the opening post. I quote:
"Apparently the general claims I hear is he hates gay people, is awful to people at cons and is generally a Fundamentalist Christian.
Having not been born yesterday, I suspect this is largely exaggeration and I just curious if anyone can fill me in on what the source of all this hate is?"
Nikkolas was just curious. He doesn't REALLY think that Mignogna is a homophobic bible-thumping asshole. He was exaggerating what he heard from other people on purpose.
