I had some sort of mean spirited observation about Eliza Dushku doing Cons with nothing in the pipeline, but such a snarl of double entendres and mixed metaphors ensued in my brain that nothing but this post could go stumbling out.

lockonlockon   North suburbs   black dress shirt with a waistcoat and a necktie

It'll be a real life Yack Fest! I'll probably be there early since it's a super short walk, so I'll let people know what I'm wearing so all y'all can look for me.

Hey, Chicagolanders: Mapquest says it's about an hour and half from Rockford to the meet. Does that sound right?

If traffic is light and the roads are clear, that's about the minimum. I usually allowed more like two hours — traffic starts to get heavy around Elgin.

Hmm. Might need to move the Ajbcool pickup earlier, to about 8:30AM. Was thinking of doing it about 9.

My sense of time is completely whack. I just grabbed the phone to call my sis and ask her — she still lives near Chicago — and then I realized it's 2:15 in the morning. Once I asked Mapquest to break it down to the Rockford-to-Elgin leg and the Elgin-to-Navy Pier leg, I'd say it's about right. But it's telling me 1:49, much closer to 2:00 than to 1:30.

I've lived around Rockford for a while, and when I was younger, needed to go to Chicago on a regular basis. Even do so now and yeah, TBH, giving us more time to get there would be a good idea.

Cool. Let's figure on 8:30, then. I might be a little earlier than that by a bit, even.

I plan on being there earlier as well, about 15 minutes.

I'd love a ride if someone wants to spare me the walk. Otherwise I'll hoof it. I just live over a mile from the pier.

That's about my distance too, Shima! If you're on the north side then we'd live pretty close to each other.

Gold Coast, up around Clark and Division. So yeah, not a bad walk at all!

Long time (wiki) lurker here: I was going to go to C 2 E 2 anyway, so I'll drop down to Navy Pier. I'm wearing a silly costume to C 2 E 2, but I haven't decided if I want to freak out the muggles or not.

Fast Eddie: I'd allow myself two hours. I'm about an hour west of Rockford, so I can't really say what the traffic will be like.

Two hours is a pretty safe precaution, but I've seen travel times for an hour and a half.

Yeah, I'm not going. It seems like no one is driving near my area, and I would feel a little too unconforable getting in a car with people I only met in the Internet.

In short, going would involve breaking one of the worst Stranger Danger rules.

Will you be recording the event? And can you hold it in a location more south next time, so I can hope you happen to pick the place that I live in?

Which you can do, at two o'clock in the morning on empty highways. It's only about 85 miles. And even though you'll be going less than 60 mph getting out of the city, you can easily make up the time once you're on I-90 and can go 65 (or 70, or 75).tongue
