Kira and josuke have a big duality thing going on for all of part 4 so I could buy it, really.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I think the ambulance is more indicative of the fact that Morioh itself was trying to get rid of the person killing it so that it could finally begin healing. Which is basically what Koichi says at the end about the town being in the process of healing.
Since we're talking about part 4: I think the scene with Koichi throwing out Yukako with Echoes Act 2, and then cutting his hair was the first thing I ever saw of the Jojo anime. At least the first clip. It was either that or D'Arby catching Joseph using Hermit Purple to cheat. At least with Part 4 I wasn't certain if Koichi was the protagonist, or the plucky side-character. I don't even remember what I thought of the scene with D'Arby.
This was all many months, possibly years, before I sat down and read the entire manga, so I found it cool if completely weird and without context.
A fantastic hour and 15 minute video breaking Vento Aureo and its themes down, and explaining why the creator of the video considers Vento Aureo to be a perfect story. The video goes into each section of Vento Aureo like the story is a classic symphony and explores how each section deals with the central theme of overcoming fate with resolve and facing all challenges head-on without trying to cheat or skip to the end to get the results.
Oh that sounds interesting. Gonna save it so I can listen to it while I do my schoolwork.
One of my favorite lines from the video is "He(referring to Risotto), a mere jester, dares to sneer at the Crimson King in his own Court, in his own home-town!"

I remember seeing that video and not really bothering after a few minutes. Gave it another try cause of your recommendation and it's actually good. It neatly ties together fate and resolve and some personal themes.
Question: Would there ever have been a point after the Lovers fight in Part 3 where shrinking your Stand would have been useful? Nothing comes to mind. Also I don't know if any other Stand users after then would have been able to figure it out on their own (although there have been crazier leaps in logic/brilliant deductions by our astute characters).
Can't believe I missed this one!
- Stand User: SpongeBob SquarePants
- Stand Name: The Pencil
- Stats:
- Destructive Power: A
- Speed: E
- Range: E
- Durability: C
- Precision: E
- Development Potential: A
- Ability: A Stand bound a pencil. Capable of bringing anything drawn with it to life. Its eraser can be used to erase anything it touches, even real life objects. Breaking the pencil in half will not diminish the Stand's power, and both haves can be used to bring drawing to life. Any drawing created by the Pencil can be neutralized by binding it to a piece of paper.
Any stand focused on a special power would be OP if shrunk, since it would be hard to hit. Imagine the rat's stand except the darts are cell-sized. Imagine Koichi shrinking echoes and then crushing cells with gravity. Or Red Hot Chilipeppers shrunk to fit in microelectronics.
Shrinking is ridiculously powerful.
The weird thing is that shrinking wasn't even necessary for that fight, since Hierophant Green already had the ability to go inside other people's bodies and Star Platinum was precise enough to catch Lovers without it. They could have just removed Silver Chariot entirely (or had Polnareff do damage control outside, with Silver Chariot ready to cut Lovers the second it left), and just had the battle be mostly a dedicated Kakyoin fight.
That was fresh. XD
Pinkie Pie and flugelhorns are a bad combination. Also Silver Chariot is incredibly precise and fast as well. He could cut Avdol's flames and deflect them with ease, surely he could hit Lovers. He hit a lightspeed stand too, after all, despite said stand fitting into something as small as an eye or a coin.
It's pretty clear that Araki just wanted to do the old "shrink down for surgery" plot.
He didnt hit Hanged Man by outspeeding it. He hit Hanged Man by restricting its possible routes to a single line.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThat was the point of Kyokin throwing the coins, correct?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yeah, he basically just held his sword out in the exact path he knew Hanged Man would be going and let Hanged Man run his face straight into the blade.
I didn't mean that he was fast enough to hit a lightspeed stand. I mean that he was precise enough to know where a coin-sized (or smaller, it's not clear how big Hanged Man is in transit and his size varies) Stand would appear and hit it. Given how thin his sword is and how small the stand, that's already impressive based on a splitsecond decision.. He also cut the air to manipulate Avdol's fire. In other words, he's incredibly precise. So he probably could hit Lovers without shrinking.

Ah, yeah that makes sense, and it seems plausible. Stand Stats are mostly nonsense, but Silver Chariot's Precision stat is supposedly a B. That said, while Silver Chariot could cut Lovers after it's left Joseph's head, I don't know if I trust Polnareff's abilities to stab his sword straight into Joseph's ear and leave him unharmed.
I understand the logic of "smaller Stand = harder to hit", but wouldn't it be fair to assume that shrinking requires active effort and scales your power with it? I'd assume a 1cm tall Echoes Act 3 wouldn't be able to make things as heavy as the normal sized one (heavy, yes; but no an extra 50kg). Same with Ratt shooting bullets that are proportionally smaller in terms of what they jellify [sp?]. Same with The Hand being only able to delete as much as his hand can swipe. And so on and so forth.
I would assume that's how that would work.
Yes, actually. While shrinking their Stands, Polnareff notes that it takes a lot of Stand Power to do this. Still seems like something that shouln't be a universal ability all Stands have, like phasing through matter, but they do attempt to hand-wave why it's not used often.
Now we need someone to make their Stand huge.
Secret SignatureThe thing is that shrinking would both make the stand harder to see and counter, and also open up new venues of attack. it's one thing to target a hand with 80kg of force, it's another to use said gravity power on your gravity-sensing organ. Or to melt the flesh inside your brain. Or to swipe away some nerves (e.g. optic nerves) or some major vein. It's hard to get in range with big stands cause they're visible and the enemy is guarded. It's easy to get in range if the enemy doesn't even realize the stand is in range. Or that you have one. Or that they're being attacked.
So basically Strength?

Wait a minute... an ambulance killed Kira. Ambulances are used for saving lives and the equipment and people they carry have the ability to heal people, but the power of the vehicle itself is what killed Kira. Josuke's Crazy Diamond has the power to heal people and save lives, but Josuke uses it mostly for fighting with its raw strength and speed.
Was the ambulance actually a metaphor for Josuke?
