I did too.
At least he died thinking he won.
I was kinda hoping for a full Heel–Face Turn. I knew it was unlikely, but it would have been a cool set of circumstances. The again, I was also hoping Gyro would survive, but that didn't happen either.
I was looking up the remaining volumes of the manga on Amazon as part of the Christmas shopping (eventually) and DEAR LORD! Even the used copies cost sixty dollars! Guess I'll have to look elsewhere to get them. Or maybe I should just ignore my moral sensibilities and look up internet scanlations, then hope it's as good as the official English release.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"YES!
Also, PILLAR FIGHT!

I like how Jonathan took that punch on the chin and just kept standing. Speedwagon's razor hat also looks pretty impressive when animated.
You could have said it was a raw...
And, well, the ads are as bizarre as the show. And the character designs... Only Dio can pull off wearing that suit without looking ridiculous, because he's freaking Kono Dio-sama.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Also, that voice might very well convince me the earth is flat if it needed to.
Yes, but they are Aztec things of pure Body Horror. They're allowed to have a fashion sense befitting of an Eldritch Abomination. Not so with Dio... and, really, half of the cast. I mean, green lipstick? On a man? Engraving your name on your teeth? Star spangled pajamas? A man corset? Kenshiro (or Mad Max)'s padded shoulders?
But, you know, I'll never get over that time where a mother asked Dio to spare her baby from vampirization. Fuck. What an asshole. I mean, qualitatively, that's the most disgustingly, needlessly evil thing a villain has ever done, ever, that I know of. It is a level beyond eating babies, or even putting them in a blender, or even common genocide. It's... despicable.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

I actually felt bad for Diego when he died, and that's a hell of a lot more than you can say about Dio.
