Angry Joe is my second favroute reviewer next to Linkara
Proveing 12 year olds are the filthist people aroundWow, this is actually the first thread on this? Well damn.
I like him quite a bit. While I like Yahtzee's fast paced vicious disembowelings of games Joe gets into the details of what works and what doesn't. He tells you the good and the bad in equal measure and comes out with a score that is overall pretty fair. I say pretty fair because for all Brink's flaws he still gave it a 5 which based off his review seems like it should be a 3 or less. I enjoy that he doesn't focus on one genre, RPG, RTS, FPS, fighting, Dancing games, etc. He plays and reviews them all and does a good job of it. And of course he keeps things entertaining enough that even games I have no interest in I'll still watch his review of them.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritI think it's fair if he's disappointed and gives it an average score. In the case of things like Sonic Free Riders and that Ghostbusters DLC game, he outright hated both of them. The scale seems to go, from lowest to highest scores, "angry < disappointed < pleased < happy"
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I like him because he always offers constructive criticism too, always suggesting ideas that would've made the movie/game much better. And when he's angry, the fun factor goes really high up
"We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty." - Malcolm ReynoldsWhoops, my post came out kind of redundant. I blame it on the necro (that I'm thankful for, I thought no one will reply...)
"We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty." - Malcolm ReynoldsThe fairness is why I like him. Most "reviews," are heavily biased based off "What do I like?" If something doesn't immediately give the reviewer what they want the game gets dinged hugely for it. Joe's interests seem to cover any platform, any genre, he just wants to play a good game.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritThat review was actually pretty good when he wasn't talking about sex.
Yeah it's a bit juvenile but he's reviewing a game with full frontal nudity and sex in it. The last game in the series had naked trading cards in it. He's not unjustified in making some fun of it.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritAngry Joe reviews Duke Nukem Forever
As expected* , he shreds it.
Though to be honest, his final verdict is fair and he did acknowledge the PC version being better.
I now go by Graf von Tirol.I don't think Joe likes the new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritWell it's basically a re-release of a game with new characters, stages, balancing, and features that could've been added as DLC. I mean really, if anything, this is Capcom insulting the intelligence of gamers or for those who bought the first and bothered to buy ultimate: validated that they're idiots. While his diatribe on the characters was a bit long and too subjective, he is right about everything else.
The Blog The ArtI dunno about the characters. If you break it down you've got things that should have been free, balance fixes and spectator mode, and things that should have been broken up DLC, the characters. So the only thing that you should be paying for are the characters. So you're being charged $40 for 12 characters. Ok, that's not awful especially if they're 12 big time characters. Except, they're not. You've got Phoenix, a couple low A to high B list guys, and the rest niche characters that probably excite a few people but not all that many, ie. they're filler.
Now if this was individual or even package offers no big deal, people drop money for who they really want to get and leave the others. This of course encourages the company to try and produce characters that people will want to pay for. Instead you have to take the filler with the few good and pay $40 for it instead of picking an choosing and spending $10 or $20 on just what you want.
It's an attempt to see if gamers will bite. Instead of going the DLC route and being forced to create things people will pay for each time the do the expansion pack thing, only incredibly stripped down, to see if people will put up with it. It's far more lucrative for the company to produce a couple big namers and then some filler and sell if for $40 than to produce each individually and sell them on their own merits for a few bucks each.
Yeah, I'll admit he hammers the point home about the characters but in this situation what else is the pack offering but the characters that you should be paying for?
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritSo, if I want to play this game, the smart solution would be to mooch off someone else's copy? [/Does not care about Angry Joe]

It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.I was very disappointed that there wasn't a "Reddler vs. Riddler" joke in there.
#IceBearForPresidentIs anyone else having problems playing his latest video?
One of the blip.tv servers is down.

Anyone likes his reviews? I think they are all spot on, in the sense that they always contain constructive criticism, and the bursts of anger are endlessly funny (for me anyways)
YMMV though, one of my friends feels disturbed by his attitude :-)
I think his latest rant about Star Wars 3D is priceless!
