NGE is a good recommendation for anyone who knows what NGE is. If they don't know what NGE is, chances are they're proooobably not ready for it, especially not as part of an introduction to the anime industry (partly due to how NGE deconstructs a large amount of anime tropes that persist even to this day).
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Mae
Ah! So NGE isn't for beginners as it's a deconstruction no?
By the way.......Any good animes that has a Mainstream Obscurity effect that could be recommended to some people especially 2017 ones?

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."
I greatly enjoyed Urara Meirocho. However, I have two major gripes with it.
- Chiya doesn't get her own divination method until near the end.
- It's a "read the manga" style ending. This is particularly Egregious because there is one major plot thread that was given absolutely no progress to its conclusion.
Otherwise, it's a fun show that offers a unique culture, well-divided screen time, and some decent character development.
Heal the Cutie, then point the Laser-Guided Karma and Disaster Dominoes towards the Asshole Victim that had wronged her. I love this plot line!
If I knew about any of the rest, I would have included them in my commentary. It seems like you'll have to keep wondering.
- ACCA: a sedate, slow-burning political intrigue show with lots of food porn. Good if you're into that kinda thing.
- Zero blah blah Mahou no Sho: the two lead characters are great, but otherwise it's pretty mediocre and mostly notable for how it avoids a lot of the more obnoxious recent trends in fantasy anime.
- Princess Principal: Definitely starts out good. I personally found it declined in quality as it progressed, but that's not an objective statement. Enjoyable, especially if you haven't watch many other shows of its' kind.
- Shoukoku no Altair: A 'read the manga' situation, on the whole- not terrible, but it's a subpar adaptation of a story that was kind of a poor man's Arslan Senki to begin with. Worth checking out if you liked that and wanted more.
- UQ Holder: I haven't watched the anime, but I've read some of the manga- and you need to understand that it's a sequel to Mahou Sensei Negima. I have no idea how it would come across to someone not familiar with Negima. It's not thought of particularly highly around these parts, though.
And those are all the ones I have any first hand knowledge of. Though, I mean, given that we're talking about 2017 shows, it shouldn't be to hard to dig up the threads for the relevant seasons and see what people thought about them when they first started airing.

Sorry bout that. Just wanna make the thread a little bit active that's all. But yeah, Glad to give some of the opinions regarding those shows as I would plan to watch it in the future
Anyways, for a slightly older anime.....Thinking about Kanokon,Elemental Gelade and Kannazuki no Miko by the by. Are they decent for viewings?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."ACCA is good though the sole POC district is the only direct antagonist of the series, even if it is just one rich family from there using their power trying to take control, there's a whole host of messy implications there.
Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu is bad and you should only watch it if you like pretty action scenes done by ufotable. It's amazing how fast they manage to remove any sense of tension by the ending.
Also don't watch Kannazuki no Miko, it features a rapist portrayed as good even after sexually violating the main character and has some of the most garbage writing I've ever seen.

Just wanted to revive this thread cuz why naut,
I'm actually craving for some Shonen Jump mangas (The current ones...Not long runners like One Piece or MAH)...Is there any good Shonen Jump mangas that I need to read. From what I heard, Kimetsu no Yaiba and Yakusoku no Neverland is good no?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."My recommendation would be https://mangazuki.me/manga/tales-of-demons-and-gods/
It's a genius manga with an amazing story

Five Star Stories takes place in a universe that has technology far beyond our own, but whose culture is based more off the Dark Ages or the Renaissance. It's mostly about the God-King Amateratsu and his goal to become Emperor of the Joker system, but rather than playing it straight, the manga instead jumps around the timeline and tells the story in Anachronic Order, even focusing on other characters and their exploits from time to time. It also has Humongous Mecha.
Hey, Japanese light novels fall under this category too, right?
Anyway, I've recently been looking through the various Isekai genre light novels on Amazon, reading samples on Kindle and then buying some of them. However, I have one main issue with this particular selection of literature: The main protagonist is almost always a male who winds up with a harem of attractive girls practically throwing themselves at him, yet it ends up that either (A) the story treats it as a balanced harem where the guy takes practically forever (if ever at all) to choose the girl he wants, (B) he seems to show no romantic interest in any of them for various reasons, or (C) he winds up in an actual polyamorous harem.
So, first of all, can anyone recommend any with a female main protagonist? The only ones I've found so far are "Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!" and "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level." I am enjoying both of those series, especially the former, but I want to know if there are any more good ones out there.
Second, are there any with a good romance between one man and one woman? Not that there can't be strong competition for the main character (that's probably asking too much), but it needs to be clear from early on just who the main couple is intended to be even if it takes a while for them to actually get into a romantic relationship.
Got a pretty hard request for you guys:
Is there any manga, LN or anime where the MC's love interest turned out to be evil?
Heres the real kicker: The MC must be a guy and the love interest should be female. :P

Time to make this chat lively again:
What are your thoughts on Neon Genesis Evangelion? Is it good for anime recommendations or not. And if you're a Gundam beginner which Gundam series is the best start?
