Putting text on an image instead of below it doesn't make it "not a caption".
I like that idea, it is a mix of the humorous and descriptive approaches, any other ideas along those lines, or that?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan."Putting text on an image instead of below it doesn't make it "not a caption"."
The definition of a caption, in the context of illustration, is accompanying text. So it actually does make it not a caption, since the text would be part of the picture. It's the same reason dialog balloons are not counted as captions.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It wouldn't be part of the picture; the text is just being added on top of an image that originally didn't have any text. It would be every bit as much "accompanying text" in the picture as much as it would out of it.
Yes, text in a picture can be a caption. Sometimes a speech bubble is a caption in disguise. "Trope"/"Not a trope" on the Death Star attack plan image (page 1
) are captions. That image has three captions (two on the image, one below).
Caption (relevant definition): the explanatory comment or designation accompanying a pictorial illustration. E.g.: "Wailord used Body Slam!" is a caption within the image.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think it is between "Wood" (may require removing image from Fancruft) and "Godfather". Each is (imo) hilarious and appropriate:
...anyone know how to add a line break in a caption?
Not Tropes: People Sit On Chairs

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^Can you just add the \\ after the end of the third trope before starting a new paragraph for the next line?
EDIT: Yeah, that should work.
Not Tropes: Sitting In A Chair

Was trying to find a trope that is more directly chair/sitting-related than DIFGTBAG, to go with CC and So V. But couldn't find one.
Add?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.

Just add some of that to the picture so that the caption isn't doing all the work.
