Only up until he began to argue with Death, the rest was the Lich's doing.

Anyone else find it weird that Jake has no visable pupils?I know its part of the stylization of the show but it's something I realised while I was drawing Jake

I really liked this story. I went into it telling my girlfriend ilI really hope it's not the Lich again but you know what, I was actually really happy to see the story beat.

The series 1 parody at the begining was really well done, with the anarchisims clueing you in at just the right pace.

Really big fan of Life, would happily have her be a lasting part of the mythos (in comics I guess?)

Really continuity rich, I'll probably have to resort to a You Tube video explaining them all to me.

Being able to cycle through all your previous incarnations is pretty sweet.

The timing of Tree Trunk's voice actresses' death makes this story have a weird tone to it. Appropriately as well.

Honestly I'm glad he got a proper sendoff. A final confronation between him and the heroes as the grand finale seemed fitting so was suprised we didnt get that intially.

Yeah I was always kind of disappointed by the show Where The Lich was more of a Disc-One Final Boss. So him getting to be the true Threat of Finn and Jakes final adventure really fits

one thing That I do wish they did though was finally give us an Answer on what the Lich..is Exaclty, I feel it would have really fit if they confirmed he really was some Entity like Finn as Finns past incarnations was something mentioned repeatedly in the episode

She was actually introduced during the Show's run. I remember awhile ago There was a short or something about Death trying to find a good anniversary gift to give her or something.

Pretty sure the Lich has all but outright stated to be a non-natural malevolent spirit that wants everything to die for his pleasure and will violate the natural order for that. Not to mention pretty much immortal and eternal as proved here.

I do kinda wonder, was it like, deaths son was there and the Lich was pupeteering him, or was it like Billy all those years ago where it was a Full possession deal and was just mimicking him

What I mean is that there's a bit of Multiple-Choice Past with his origins. There's hints he was someone who became the Lich thanks to Golbs breath, there's also hints he was some Eldritch horror like Orgalorg, and hints he was a comet incarnation similar to Finn, having been the one to wipe out the Dinosaurs

I'm pretty sure the Lich wasn't "born" with the atom bomb, it merely gave him his humanoid shape. The Lich was once a Catalyst Comet with his malice eventually being used to make the Mushroom War Bomb that shaped OOO. It's less Multiple-Choice Past and more detailing exactly how something like the Lich came to be.

The Lich is like a zombie Terminator; a methodical, determined machine who lives for and won't stop until it achieves his purpose-the death of everyone. And I don't even think he's done here, because remember that the Lich hand fell into every dimension. There's also the fact that if the Farmworld wishworld exists despite Jake changing the Lich's wish, his original wishworld of the extinction of life should exist out there(only on a universal level, since I doubt Prismo would have power beyond that). So we likely have a Lich hand in many universes(just not the Dead World, main world and Farmworld), a Season 5 Lich ruling over a universe void of life, and Sweet P. Maybe the Lich and Finn's spirit are just destined to fight for the rest of time.

I want the last special to show what happened to the rest of the supporting cast, even though I know there's not enough time.

My personal theory is kinda mix off all of the above. The lich is as he says "the last scholar of Golb". He was originally one of the ancient monsters like orgalorg and worshipped Golb enough that as his scholar he found a way to reincarnate as the comet (which seems to be a way to change the date of things). Said comet crashed and was combined with the Mushroom bomb to allow him physical form once more

Golb is chaos and the comet itself is a bringer of change. Whether that change becomes malevolent or not is ultimately situational. Thus Finn likewise originating from the Comet and going through the cycle of life ever since he arrived.

Yeah Finn is his good counterpart. Their fates are linked So even if he isn't gone for good which seems likely. Finn and his reincarnations will be around to kick his ass

That one line has gotten me thinking of things ever sense I heard it.

Like, it gave me my theory that Hunson actually tried to live a life on earth with Marcelines mother, it's just that in Hunson Abadeer fashion, while he was legitmetly trying, he was...really bad at it. And largely ended up scaring people away, and maybe left Marcy with some emotional issues as well

As being compared to him / thinking she was becoming like him was apparently something that made Kid Marcy cry.

To summarise,in universe there's no real answer,out of universe though,Rule of Funny from season 1,that and the voice actress for Princess Bubblegum did know some germen anyway so they worked it into the plot.
