Indexing updated. Charmander buffing... not so much yet. Still on my list, along with talking out the Pokéball issue, maybe finding a Pokéwalker compromise, and looking into setting up an external wiki, but they're all kinda buried at the moment.

Anyways, would anyone be too bummed if we were to hold off on Generation 5 entries until the games have hit the spoilers-off stage in English?

^ I thought we'd basically decided on that already.

Anyway, does anyone want to speculate on the amount of trainers that get injured or killed every year due to doing exactly what our entries tell them not to.

^^ No, I wouldn't be bummed at all. And rmctagg's right, I'm pretty sure we already agreed to wait until the games actually came out first.

I apologize for my tardiness with the Moltres article. It'll be here...eventually...

^^^^ I'd assume about the same as that get killed because someone was texting while driving. If the world is as inherently dangerous as we're making it, its inhabitants will have grown up having a pretty good idea of what constitutes extreme stupidity, and will have a few generic ground rules down about approaching wild murderbeasts.

Hell, their last year of school before they take off probably has a week-long unit of shock images of what happens when you do really stupid shit, just like high schools do for drunk driving.

@rmctagg: Napalm suggested waiting for the romanizations, yes; I'm suggesting we also give the spoiler-shy among us enough time to finish the plot, rather than jumping in on the translation's release day.

re: death: Exact rate varies with the species we're talking about, though probably more than one death a year for most species. But yeah, caution is part of the culture hopefully.

@Sullen: Any particular sticking points on the Moltres entry, or just simple lack of time?

Lack of time—I'm dealing with getting settled back into school (particularly difficult as it's my first semester of university) and I'm working on a number of other things as well, both on TV Tropes and elsewhere.

It'll get done—it won't take me long to write it up, as it'll be very similar to Articuno and Zapdos—it's just going to take a while to find time to do it.

Story of my life, trust me.

By the way, if anyone has a diplomatic solution to the Pokéball's operation, or a way to revive the Pokéwalker, I'd be much obliged.

I've grown fond of this thread. Gives a much realistic aproach to the Pokévesre, where Pokémon arent just automatons that obey orders but like animals that need to be properly taken care off and also be dangerous, like any other animal in our lives.

When you edit the Tyrogue article, a tip for spelling on the names if you have trouble with it: copy-paste the correct spelling into your word processor, right click it, and add it to the dictionary. I already do that because getting red text every time I mention anything Pokémon-related just bugs me me, but it can also help you pick out when you mess it up.

You can also go into your Auto Correct library and tell it to replace "pokemon" with "pokémon" (and so on for pokédex, pokéball) if you want to do that but hate having to hit Alt+130 every time.

Pokemon Special actually kinda feels like the most 'realistic' version of Pokemon now- you'd have to be pretty damn badass yourself to be able to train and command superpowered semi-sentient animals.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of domestic Pokemon were neutered, declawed, un-poisoned and otherwise made safer for children to be around.

That reminds me, did anyone do the Growlithe line? I imagine they might be a little better with kids. (heck, in Real Life dogs are often better babysitters than many teenagers)

I dunno, as Ash's Charizard goes, if Pokemon want to be violent to their trainers, they will.

I imagine it's a similar situation with poorly treated dogs- their instinct is to cow to their 'leader' even if they could easily kill them. Captive Pokemon are trained to be submissive and obey orders, and than can easily be abused.

Still, do you want to seriously abuse a creature that can Mind Rape you into submission, torch you to a crisp, steal your life force, or do a whole host of other nasty things to you? Do you really want to take that chance?

People abuse elephants, tigers, Dobermans, falcons, all kinds of deadly animals in Real Life. Not to mention each other, there's plenty of abuse victims whose abusers won't stand a chance against them.

The idea of abuse is to make the animal submissive to the abuser and hostile to everyone else. You hear things like "You're worthless! You couldn't hurt a fly!" and "You'd be useless if not for me!" for a reason.

And if you're of the mindset to abuse something you probably won't think of the consequences, or if you will, only how to avoid them.

Now let's not dwell on this subject for much longer, it's as unpleasant to write about as it is to read.
