[up]HA HA HA—No.

It wouldn't fit thematically with the way I set up the pokemon- it is something people are terrified of, they aren't going to make snack foods named after it.

Edit: My post on the last page has already been linked on the full page. It's not done yet though, so can I replace it with a link to its own dedicated page when I finish it up and get it its own page?

Yeah.

EDIT: As another suggestion, perhaps you could look on Pokémon-amie and note where they hate being touched in Hazards.

[up]Inkay dislikes being touched in its tentacles.

And, weirdly, it seems to dislike when you touch its fin thing on its hat too.

I will go see where it dislikes being touched.

Edit: Oddly enough, it seems Malamar does not dislike having it's tentacles petted. huh.

Hay, folks thanks for the ideas and contributions,it's all very helpful and hopefully with this i'll be to get myself out the slump I've been in. I'll make edits to the post as when I feel like I've got more. Anyway in regards to Tauros as a source of meat, where should that be mentioned? I'm thinking Human Society but I'm not sure.

FYI, every individual Pokemon has a different place it likes to be petted, and a place it doesn't like to be petted.

Two Pokemon that are the same species will still randomly have different favorite places and least favorite places.

For the Inkay line, I'd go deeper into the cult info if you intend to add a Human Society section, then of course there's the human exploitation of the hypnotic powers. Which makes me wonder on a side note, do you think Malamar have rivalries? The squid's stepping in on Hypno's reputation after all.

For the Tauros, I think Human culture works as well. Maybe add a Bullfighting parallel as well. At least as a historical footnote if the League and activists outlawed the practice. Ooh, that also leaves the Running of the Tauros.

Inverting an Inkay might change its temperament due to the altered blood pressure.

Espurr Line

Morphs (Oak Catalog #)

Espurr (677)

Meowstic (678)

Physiology

Espurr is a small, feline-like Pokemon averaging about one foot in height and weighing an average of 7.7 lbs. It is bipedal, and possesses mainly gray fur with white points on its limbs and its ears. It has tufts of fur on its head, chest and the sides of its face and a stubby tail. Its ears themselves are almost always folded to their heads, and the insides contain purple, eye-like markings. Its most prominent feature is probably its wide, ‘soul piercing’ violet eyes and generally vacant and blank expression.

Meowstic, the adult form of the line, takes on one of two morphs depending on gender. Both are approximately two feet in height and weigh about 18.7 lbs. Neither is entirely different from Espurr physiologically, but it is rare to find gender morphs in Pokemon so different in coloration and behavior. Both morphs have two long tails and long, folded ears that stand half-upright to form triangular shapes, resembling that of a Meowth or Purrloin. The male form is mostly deep blue in coloration, retaining white points where it had them as an Espurr but also gaining white stripes on its tails and its ears. Its eyes have become almond-shaped and sky blue in coloration, with dark green pupils. It has a fluffy, white tuft of fur on its head and a ruff of white for around its neck. The markings on the inside of its ears are now blue.

The female form is dominantly white in color, with dark blue points where it had them as an Espurr. Its ears have a curled shape at their end, and its tails are also curled with blue points at their bases. The points on the legs are larger than the male form, resembling stockings. The fur near its legs is also longer, making it seem like the Pokemon is wearing some sort of dress. Its eyes are now almond-shaped and yellow with orange pupils. It has a curled, blue tuft on its head resembling a hat as well as a scarf-like blue ruff around its neck. The markings on the inside of its ears are now yellow.

Notable Biology

While it may physically resemble felines such as Purrloin or Meowth, the Espurr line is actually far more closely related to the Ralts and Abra lines, and other humanoid Psychic types. Its feline traits are an example of convergent evolution- the growth of similar traits in species of different lineage. In this case, its need for rich food and meats needed for the development of a large brain required the growth of sharper teeth, larger sensory organs for keen senses and a fast, sleek stature. Its most prominent feature is its ears- they contain smaller, auxiliary brains which double as powerful psychic weapons. Simply opening them has the power to knock a person off their feet. In Meowstic, the psychokinetic blasts they can fire are capable of throwing boulders around as if they were toys. The eye-like markings actually do have the rods and cones found in its true eyes- the pupils even move from its eyes to the markings when it attacks, confirming that it can see with these extra eyes. Due to the power of these organs, these Pokemon tend to always keep their ears folded and flinch if their ears are so much as touched. These Pokemon are highly intelligent as well as effective hunters in the wild. While many people often say that Espurr and its kin are incapable of emotion due to their blank, unchanging faces, nothing could be further from the truth. They are very sensitive Pokemon, and communicate their feelings through telepathy. These Pokemon can communicate a wide variety of emotions and messages with eachother and even people by sharing their feelings. These Pokemon, when treated with love and care, can spread feelings of joy, relaxation and even euphoria to its Trainer and other Pokemon. A Meowstic raised very diligently can even pick up on human languages and communicate silently with its trainer. This power has many handy abilities, from transmitting messages to their entire pride over the span of a few seconds to making would-be predators experience sudden panic attacks and run away in fear. This Pokemon is in the ranks of Gardevoir when it comes to intelligence, and like Gardevoir, some have become literate. A Meowstic is a lifelong partner, and a very loving one.

Habitat

Espurr and Meowstic aren’t so much rare as they are good at hiding in the wild. The only known settled population is on Route 6 of their native Kalos region. They tend to live in secluded areas with many places to hide, such as dense, overgrown forests and clearings with very tall grass. Wild groups roam and follow prey, so all other groups tend to migrate with their staple prey. In captivity, an Espurr or Meowstic can adapt to almost any environment. They develop deep bonds with their Trainers, and prefer to be wherever their owner or Trainer is.

Diet

Espurr and Meowstic are omnivores. They prefer only the richest food, and even then prefer meat. Female Meowstic in a pride are the ones who hunt for food, often bird Pokemon that they knock out of the sky using psychic blasts- they tend to prefer Pidgey, Starly and Bunnelby as prey, but groups of Meowstic are known to take down Staravia, Diggersby and even Tauros. Female Meowstic cook the meat for their young using electric shocks. They supplement this diet with sweet berries such as Pecha and Magost, as well as eggs stolen from nests. In captivity, they will eat nearly anything a person does. Standard Pokemon food is perfectly fine for them, but should be supplemented with cooked meat. Berries and sweets can be used as treats and rewards, and they tend to prefer chocolate candy best of all.

Social Structure

Espurr and Meowstic live in groups called prides. An alpha pair of the eldest male and female is the head of the group, and even if only one dies a new couple has to come to power. An Espurr caught in the wild will need to have it established that its Trainer is the head of its pride through a serious voice and stable emotions. Espurr develop greatly differing natures when they evolve based on their gender. Females in a pride are the ones who hunt, as well as defend territory from other predatory Pokemon, and are easily the more dangerous of the two morphs. They become armed to the teeth with offensive abilities, and are generally more aggressive even in captivity. They only take a break from hunting when pregnant or nursing a kit. Male Meowstic are recommended for less experienced Trainers, and in the wild protect and care for the young. They are more docile in temperament, but also very fiercely guarding of their Trainers. They tend to learn more supporting moves that they can use to guard and bolster themselves and their kits. In this way, their society vaguely resembles that of the Piplup line.

Courting and Childrearing

Meowstic are the only stage that mates in the wild. They will form pairs based on emotional and personal compatibility, and tend to experiment by spending time together before actually mating, making Meowstic couples somewhat similar to those of humans. While relationships both long and short have been observed, the alpha male and female always mate for life. Meowstic with cleaner fur and longer tails are generally considered more attractive as mates, though the ones sending out messages of negative emotions all the time are usually rejected no matter what. Meowstic in a couple tend to spend a lot of time with bodily contact with eachother, nuzzling and cuddling as well as sending intense telepathic messages to one another. Espurr are capable of surviving oviparous and oviviparous birth, the latter being more common in the wild. A Meowstic usually gives birth to only one or two Espurr kits, which are raised diligently and lovingly until they evolve. Even then, family ties are still very strong, with most familial groups in the pride sticking by one another.

Hazards

Espurr is a gentle Pokemon if not agitated, and can make for a very unusual but affectionate pet. But beware- the psychic organs in this line are extremely potent weapons, and can fire anything from condensed static electricity to blasts of concentrated umbrate to weapons of their own emotion. One angry Meowstic can knock out a human easily. Three of them can kill him through psychic telepathy and brain damage alone. A group of ten can tear him limb from limb using psychic telekinesis. Generally, if you see small claw marks on trees, scattered avian bones or smell a pungent odor in the woods of Kalos, it’s currently Meowstic territory. If you absolutely must pass through, bring a powerful Dark type such as Mightyena or Weavile- both of these Pokemon are natural enemies of Meowstic and females will scatter upon seeing them. While Espurr are mostly rather helpless and incapable of using their abilities properly except in self-defense, Meowstic aren’t such good pets and are recommended for Trainers only due to their emotional complexity and inherent dangers. A pet Espurr should always be given an Everstone. On another note, it is more humane to obtain an Espurr bred in captivity- wild Espurr and Meowstic suffer from depression and separation anxiety and are often despondent and gloomy if taken away from their families and prides. This also applies in captivity- it is not recommended to release or trade away a Pokemon in this line, or leave it alone for long periods. Never pull on or poke an Espurr or Meowstic’s ears- and especially do not forcibly open them. The ears are sensitive and powerful, and doing so agitates them and causes a lot of pain.

In Human Culture

Espurr and Meowstic, like Skiddo, were some of the first Pokemon to be befriended and tamed by humans. Espurr were comfort creatures, and even very far back in time there were paintings of families with Espurr at their sides and great battlers and knights accompanied by Meowstic. Espurr and Meowstic are very popular in the culture of Kalos, and are often characterized in fiction as being witty or smart- a famous fairy tale in Kalos concerns a cheeky but noble male Meowstic wearing boots. Their gender dimorphism and loving relationships make them popular symbols of love and commitment- often, toppers on wedding cakes are designed after a pair of Meowstic in a dress and a tuxedo. Espurr, being a popular pet, stars in many media. There is a book series popular among older children and teens dealing with four fighting clans of wild Meowstic and Espurr that need to work together to fight even bigger dangers. There is also a series of merchandise from the Kanto region starring a female Espurr wearing a red bow and human clothes that is popular among young girls. Yet another Espurr stars in an anime and manipulates young girls into making wishes and becoming magical girls, and became memetic for his blank expression even in serious and sad scenes.
