Gush About Tropers You Like

Go To

(I'm not sure where this really belongs, so I'm putting it in YF for now. Mods, feel free to move it to Forum Games if you think it fits better there.)

The point of this thread is to list your favorite tropers and say what makes you like them so much. Please be specific; we already have Gushing About Shows You Like if you want to gush about TV Tropes or the Forums in general.

EDIT: Chopped the list because it's now quite outdated, and there are some comments in here that only made sense back in 2009 and may have even been a bit creepy.

If anyone proposed to me with Never Going To Give You Up, I would laugh my butt off.

Then again, someone insane enough to do such a thing might have other interesting quirks. Mind you, if they were sincere, I would know they were delusional.

If somebody proposed to me with a stealth Rickroll a la Glenn Magus Harvey, I would have to seriously consider their offer.

Well, everyone here seems to not be an asshole, and since this is [[GIFT the Internet]], that is quite a feat.

However...

  • I like the way Nornagest posts, especially when he argues about something. That's the way I'd like to do it myself.
  • Korgmeister is a great guy, whose cynicism makes me thinks he genuinely loves people and the world, though in a grumpy, head-shaking fashion.
  • Mad of Meat restores my faith in teenagers; I wish I were as great as Meaty when I was fourteen, but I weren't, and I'm not certain if I am there yet.
  • Fawriel and, in a different way, Matrix, are rather adorable people. If you were my Pokemon I'd constantly choose you.
  • trouserwearingbarbarian is another person who Impresses Me with a combination of erudition and charm.
  • C Trombley is a wise gentleman from a better age, gracing my brainless surfing habitats with his presence.
  • I miss Eddie van Helsing. ;_;

Edit: Oh, I forgot, or rather, I only thought of him/her as that thundercloud icon: I recently got impressed with Broken Chaos as some sort of serious debater, so whenever I see that little thundercloud, I go "Ooooh, I must read that!" Which means they are doing SOMETHING right...

I just realized I've been lurking in this thread for nineteen pages. Whoops. >_>

Well, like some other people have said, I'm horrible at describing people, so I'm just going to say that a majority of you tropers are awesome! And before anyone gets self-conscious, if I talk to you, you're probably in that majority. :D

and the gritty instrumentals are my passion.

So, your passion is represented by the most representative song of the most representative band of the reigning apathy of the nineties?

That seems off...

Wait, wasn't it the Eighties that Never Going To Give You Up was released? I did hear a bunch of nasty stuff said about that decade's music.

Oh wait, there's a Nirvana track interspersed.

Cliché: It's the lyrics of the Rickroll combined with the instrumental portions of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

This is also true of me, for the record.

Plus, I need praise, because I'm in a bad mood. >:(

I only thought of him/her as that thundercloud icon
Exactly as planned. No, seriously! This icon is an original creation, using bits of public domain icons, of mine – I made it with the intent in mind to be simple and clean enough to be easily recognisable and relatively unique. I also have an inverted (white-on-transparent) version for dark colour schemes. waii

This is a side-effect of my stated-earlier-in-this-thread situation, where I almost always identify tropers by their avatars – such as recognising you as the green-suited white/tan-hat guy (and my brain tells me that the green-suited guy is suitably awesome). I created mine with the intent to cause that association in others – I'm glad it's working. wink

I recently got impressed with Broken Chaos as some sort of serious debater, so whenever I see that little thundercloud, I go "Ooooh, I must read that!" Which means they are doing SOMETHING right...

*sweeping bow* Thank you, both. I do my best to interest, entertain, and provide food-for-thought. (And occasionally just make silly comments because it amuses me.)

It's my belief that discussions or debates are most worthwhile when those involved or observing are given something interesting to consider, and not based on some definition of 'winning'. I try to follow that wherever I can.
