What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread
.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

You can see it here
. Be prepared for a good laugh. :)
I've seen it before.
I like Cinema Sins almost as much as Honest Trailers.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseLandlines are in use much more than you'd expect - and where they're not in use, they've largely been replaced by Vo IP phones.
Also, I found out that a comparison of value of the Venetian Lira was commonly against how much silk you could buy for it, because of how it was one of the last stops for silk, and how valuable it was in that period.
I knew about others, such as the Solidus, but I thought the Venetian Lira used others.

hashtagsarestupidThe English word 'Wiking' seems to be making an odd comeback as a sorta Internet joke. Yep, wiking is the English form of viking, or at least it was. I have no idea why it's suddenly started returning on odd parts of the internet.
In the usages I've seen it is unrelated to the panzer division.

Not dead, just feeling like it.

It was the Cinema Sins guy's idea.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!
