What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread
.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

It's a film about the invention of Tetris, not an adaptation of Tetris for the record.
Some people might thing this is a stupid finding, but there's an extended version of General Grievous' music from the animated Clone Wars (the original, not CGI). For many years I wondered if that music was uploaded on Youtube but never tried looking for it; imagine my surprise when I saw an extended loop!
"judgment" is apparently a valid spelling of "judgement" and that infuriates me on the inside in ways that I can't understand.

Eh, I found the spelling to not matter. Also, Jugment would be lacking the D, which does change it. It's not so much the E itself. Otherwise, we'd have to spell it as Judgeing. Which isn't really a correct spelling either. Judgment and Judgement both are pronounced the same mainly cause of the D overall.
That said, I didn't know that it was possible to change Dark Link's palette in Zelda II till recently. Which is amazing for anyone playing Zelda II Randomizer, as it breathes new life into sprite creation~

Lower salivary cortisol levels can point to mental disorders like PTSD and depression, as well as stress in a general sense.

I had to write a page for a mental health clinic that uses lab testing as a way to help with things like diagnosis and determining treatments, and in my research, cortisol levels repeatedly came up as something that can be tested. I have no idea why it's a thing, though, because I mostly just needed to explain that such a biomarker exists at all.
